[GCW] Monday Night Explosion - 4/26/04

Snabbit888Posted on 05/10/04 at 06:21:23

* * * * *

[GCW President Ryan Niemiller is wearing a suit sitting behind the desk of his office.]

RN: Last night, John Cena defeated Hardcore Holly to become the first North American champion in Global Championship Wrestling history. However, as of this morning, due to a contractual dispute, John Cena is no longer associated with Global Championship Wrestling. Therefore, John Cena has been stripped of the North American Title. Not wanting to have the title vacant for too long, myself and the GCW Championship Committee has declared that tonight on Monday Night Explosion, there will be an Elimination Four-Corners Match to crown the new champion. The four men in the match are last night's North American Title challenger Hardcore Holly, Lance Storm, Randy Orton, and Rob Van Dam. Everyone, enjoy the evening.

[Fades into the opening credits for Monday Night Explosion.]

* * * * *

[After the opening pyro for Explosion goes off, the camera pans the cheering Milwaukee, Wisconsin fans. Standing in the center of the ring is GCW President Ryan Niemiller. He is wearing a nice suit and is holding the Global Championship Wrestling World Heavyweight Title.]

RN: Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to introduce to you the man who outlasted 29 other superstars in the Deadly Draw to make history. He is the first ever GCW World Heavyweight champion... ladies and gentlemen... "THE CRIPPLER" CHRIS BENOIT!

["Whatever" by Our Lady Peace blares over the sound system to a nice pop. After a moment, Chris Benoit emerges from the back, and he is all smiles, which is very uncharacteristic of the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada native. Benoit soaks in the cheers for a bit before he makes his way into the ring.]

RN: Congratulations, Chris. I present to you the World Heavyweight Title.

[The crowd cheers as Niemiller shakes Benoit's hand and hands him the championship belt. Benoit holds the belt over his head which gets a nice pop from the standing Milwaukee crowd. Niemiller goes to one of the corners after handing the microphone to Benoit. Benoit throws the title over his shoulder before he speaks.]

CB: I have been in this business for over 18 years. I have poured my heart and my soul into professional wrestling. I have shed blood, sweat, and tears to make it to this point. I've been all over the world, working several nights in a row, often for no more pay than a hotdog, a soda, and a pat on the back. Now that I've climbed the mountain, now that I'm holding a World Heavyweight championship belt in my hands... it's surreal. After all this time, I didn't come up short. For everyone who said I couldn't win the big one, that I was overrated... you don't think I deserve this? PROVE ME WRONG!

[The crowd is starting to get on Benoit's side now. Benoit looks as intense as he ever has in an interview before.]

CB: Now I know all the boys in the back are just waiting for me to implode, waiting for me to collapse, waiting for me to be shown as a fluke. There's no fluke here. I am the World Heavyweight champion. That means I am the best in the world today. And I'm going to prove that I'm the best wherever we go. I'm going to prove...

[Benoit is cut off as "Medal" begins playing over the PA, causing a big commotion to scatter across the crowd. Out from the back steps the Sensationals, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, and Randy Orton. There is a certain amount of distance between Angle and Orton after their altercation in the Deadly Draw last night. The Sensationals hop into the ring and play to the crowd for a bit. Benoit is in a defensive positions, and rightfully so. Angle grabs a mic from ringside.]

KA: Whoa, now, Benoit. Relax. Trust me... if we were going to kick your butt, we'd have done it already. Chris, we're out here to congratulate you, that's all. You don't believe me? It's true!...It's true. You outlasted 29 other wrestlers last night, some of the best in the world. Heck, you even outlasted all three members of the Sensationals.

[The crowd pops as Benoit smiles a bit, knowing that he won the title last night while Angle, Jericho, and Orton didn't.]

KA: And you're completely right, Benoit. Right now, you're the World Heavyweight champion. You're the number one guy, you're at the top of the mountain. And you'll be the top dog until, like you said, somebody proves you wrong. Well Benoit, I'm here to prove you wrong! I'm not just going to prove you wrong... I'm going to make you tap! I'm offering a challenge to you right now. I want the first shot at the World Heavyweight Title. If it weren't for tubby over there [points at Niemiller] setting me up with being #1 in Deadly Draw, I'd be holding that title right now, and not you! So be a man, Benoit... step up...

[Chris Jericho snatches the mic away from Angle, which gets a loud "OOOH!" from the crowd. Angle looks at Jericho funny as Jericho smirks at Angle.]

CJ: Kirk, I think you're slightly mistaken here, sparky. Somebody's going to prove toothless wrong here, but it's not going to be Kirk Angel. It's going to be the Ayatollah of Rock n' Rollah, Y-2-J! Kirk, while I was busy being in the final four last night, fending off Benoit, Shawn Michaels, and Eddie Guerrero valiantly, you were sitting in the locker room. You're going to prove Benoit wrong? You couldn't even prove Christopher Nowinski wrong!

[The crowd oohs again as Angle gets in Jericho's face, obviously quite upset that Nowinski eliminated him from Deadly Draw last night.]

KA: Don't you worry about Nowinski, Jericho. He'll get his tonight. And if you...

[Before Angle can say anymore, he is interrupted by the sounds of "Sexy Boy" and a huge pop from the Milwaukee crowd. "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels dances out to the ring, slapping hands with a few fans as he gets in the ring. HBK stands on the side of Chris Benoit, evening the sides.]

HBK: Do I sense a little trouble in paradise? I was sitting back there listening to this and listening to that, and you can all say what you want. If anyone deserves the first shot at the World Heavyweight Title, it's "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels! First of all, I was there at the end last night. It came down to Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, and myself and Benoit got the better of us. Last night, Benoit was the better man. Can I beat Benoit 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring? I'd like to think I can, but one thing I'm sure of is that I can pin the both of you. I've already pinned you Angle in a 6-man tag and I pinned you Jericho in a tag match. So why don't you [points at Angle], and you [points at Jericho] take your nancy-boy friend there [points at Orton] to the back, so the good President Mr. Niemiller can name Shawn Michaels the number-one contender?

[Michaels temporarily turns his attention to Niemiller and is about to speak when he is nailed from behind by a Jericho forearm. HBK turns and fires back at Jericho, but he is soon overwhelmed by Jericho and Orton. Benoit grabs Orton and nails him with a hard chop, but Kurt Angle gets behind him and nails him with a hard shot to the back of the head, knocking Benoit to the mat. The Sensationals have the 3-on-2 advantage, and they take it pounding on the World champ and the Showstopper. The crowd explodes into cheers as Eddie Guerrero and Rob Van Dam sprint to the ring, causing the Senstionals to scatter immediately. We cut to commercial as Guerrero, RVD, HBK, and Benoit stand in the ring, calling for the Sensationals to come get some more.]

Match #1
Triple X (w/ Daffney) vs. The Amazing Red/Rey Mysterio Jr.
We started off with a fast-paced tag team contest pitting Christopher Daniels and Elix Skipper of Triple X, along with Daffney, taking on two of the finest cruiserweights in the business today, The Amazing Red and Rey Mysterio Jr. Last night, the third member of Triple X, Low-Ki, defeated The Amazing Red to become the first Cruiserweight champion with the help of his Triple X stablemates and the Television champion AJ Styles, but Rey Mysterio Jr. made the save for Red, thus setting up this tag team match. If there's one thing that Red keeps proving week after week is that no matter how banged up he is, he is going to come out here and give it 100%., and tonight was no different. The Amazing Red is already being compared to a young Rey Mysterio Jr., so it was amazing to watch these two team up and work very well together. Daniels and Skipper have been teaming for awhile though. Triple X is a very tight knit group, and know what each other is thinking at all times. What that resulted in was a fantastic opening contest. A lot of people don't like Christopher Daniels attitude, but he is one of the best workers in the business. GCW could finally be this talented athlete's chance to shine. There's not too much to be said about this match other than it got the crowd going and was exciting to watch. In the end, a bruised up Red just couldn't withstand Daniels' attacks, falling victim to the Last Rites.

Triple X (Christopher Daniels and Elix Skipper) defeated Red and Rey Mysterio Jr. when Daniels pinned Red with the Last Rites in 0:12:46.
Rating: *** 1/2

Things were just getting started though, as the Television champion AJ Styles hit the ring and once again started in on Red. Styles looks as if he's not going to be happy until he's put Red out of GCW. Styles picked Red up for the Styles Clash, but Mysterio Jr. broke it up attacking Styles with a dropkick. Before Mysterio could do much, Cruiserweight champion Low-Ki had hit the ring and he blasted Mysterio with a hard kick to the face. Low-Ki scooped Mysterio up and planted him with the Ki Krusher. We cut to commercial as Triple X all made an X with their arms as Styles slowly backed out of the ring.

Match #2
Kurt Angle vs. Christopher Nowinski
Last night, Christopher Nowinski surprised everyone by eliminating Kurt Angle from Deadly Draw after an unexpected and unintentional (or was it?) assist from Randy Orton, and Angle was none too happy about it. Angle doesn't like being embarrassed, and he taught the rookie Nowinski a lesson tonight. Angle was toying around with the Harvard graduate in this one, hitting him with many suplexes and locking on various submissions just to play with him. Angle would lock on the Ankle Lock and picked up the easy victory.

Kurt Angle defeated Christopher Nowinski when Christopher Nowinski passed out in the Ankle Lock in 0:05:50.
Rating: ** 1/2

Needless to say, Angle was impressive tonight. Angle feels like he deserves to be Chris Benoit's first title defense, and if he keeps wrestling like he did tonight, it'll be hard to argue with the guy.

* * * * *

[We are backstage where Justin Credible is standing with Chris Jericho. Credible is pleading his case.]

JC: Listen, Chris. Just give me a chance. That's all I'm asking! Let me be your apprentice. I'll come to the ring with you, help you out, all that good stuff. C'mon... what's it gonna hurt?

CJ: Why should I let you be my lackey, assclown?

JC: Because I'm not just the coolest and I'm not just the best, but I'm... JUSTIN CRED...

CJ: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll tell you what, dish bag. I'm feeling good today. I feel like the king of the world! Niemiller's going to make me the number-one contender. Because tonight, it's Monday Night Jericho. I'll tell you what I'm going to do for you, Chip. I'm going to give you a trial run tonight. I just found out that I have a one-on-one match with Eddie Guerrero tonight. You come out with me, and you show me what you can do. You prove yourself worthy, you can hang around with this sexy beast!

JC: You won't regret it, Chris!

[We cut to the ring for our next match.]

Match #3
Billy Kidman/Paul London vs. The Basham Brothers (w/ Shaniqua)
The World's Greatest Tag Team made a deal with the Basham Brothers a couple weeks ago, promising them a World Tag Team Title shot if they helped soften up Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore. The Bashams did so, but at the same time, Shaniqua has fallen for Shelton Benjamin of the WGTT. From what we understand, she keeps writing him notes and leaving messages on his cell phone, which is leaving Benjamin a little shaken. And on top of that, the Bashams are looking for their title shot. The Bashams showed everyone how serious they were as they absolutely obliterated Billy Kidman and Paul London, who have proved to be a very competent tag team. Doug and Danny are on a mission though, and they tore right through their opponents when Doug Basham nailed Paul London with Shaniqua's riding crop while Danny Basham had referee Petey Pluck distracted.

The Basham Brothers (Doug Basham and Danny Basham) defeated Billy Kidman and Paul London when Doug Basham pinned London after hitting him with the riding crop in 0:01:21.
Rating: **

If the Bashams keep this intensity, we could be looking at the next World Tag Team champions.

Match #4
Shelton Benjamin (1/2 World Tag Team champions) (w/ Charlie Haas) vs. "Ironman" Rob Conway (w/ Nick Dinsmore)
Speaking of the World Tag Team champions, one-half of the champions, Shelton Benjamin, was in singles action against one-half of the team that's been breathing down the champions' necks, "Ironman" Rob Conway. Each man had heir tag partners down at ringside with them, but neither got involved as the other canceled out their counterpart's presence. Not a bad match at all here. The only thing that left this match a little unspectacular is that both of these men are far more accustomed wrestling tag matches, but they both worked hard. The end of this one came seemingly out of nowhere when Conway hit a front-layout suplex hanging Benjamin stomach first on the ropes. Conway quickly following up with the swinging neckbreaker maneuver he likes to call the Iron Maiden, scoring a huge victory over one-half of the tag team champions.

Rob Conway pinned Shelton Benjamin with the Iron Maiden in 0:08:32.
Rating: ** 3/4

Benjamin was quickly pulled out of he ring by Charlie Haas as Conway and Nick Dinsmore celebrated in the ring. This win could put Conway and Dinsmore in line for another World Tag Team Title shot.

Match #5
Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Kimberly) vs. Brock Lesnar
Diamond Dallas Page made his GCW debut last night during the Deadly Draw match, making a huge impact by nailing the man who has thus far looked unstoppable, Brock Lesnar, with the Diamond Cutter. Lesnar got his revenge, hitting the F-5 and spoiling DDP's debut, eliminating him from the contest, but that wasn't quite enough to ease the embarrassment, and he looked to extract the revenge one-on-one. Everyone was curious to see how well DDP would hold up after being out of the ring for almost 2 years, but he has obviously been keeping himself in great shape as he was very crisp, not backing down from Lesnar in the least. Lesnar showed just how malicious he can be, focusing primarily on DDP's damaged neck, seemingly doing everything he could to break it! Kimberly looked worried as her husband was being pummeled in the ring, but DDP fought back, catching Lesnar in a sidewalk slam. DDP fired Lesnar up, and went to nail Lesnar with the Diamond Cutter much like last night, but Lesnar pushed DDP off into the ropes. When DDP came back, Lesnar scooped him up and just like that had hit the F-5. Three seconds later, Lesnar remained undefeated.

Brock Lesnar pinned Diamond Dallas Page with the F-5 in 0:14:05.
Rating: ** 3/4

Lesnar wasn't done yet though. Lesnar picked DDP up and dropped him with another F-5. Lesnar towered over Page and was picking him up for a third when Kimberly jumped in the ring and begged Lesnar to stop. Lesnar did stop, only to grab Kimberly by the hair. Kimberly was rightfully scared out of her mind as Lesnar pulled her into a corner. Before Lesnar could do whatever his sick mind was thinking, Goldust sprinted to the ring and walloped Lesnar in his broad back with a steel chair. The crowd was on its feet as Lesnar turned around and caught the chair right between the eyes, causing him to stumble through the ropes to the floor. Goldust went to check on DDP and Kimberly as Lesnar stormed to the back a bit shaken up.

* * * * *

[After a commercial break, Goldust is standing in the backstage area with the chair still in hand.]

G: Lesnar, this craziness has gotta stop! Trying to break a guy's neck is one thing, but when you try to beat up a woman... that's low. Why don't you show up next week and try to beat... [inhales deeply and looks down towards his crotch] ...a real man? I'm challenging you to a Streetfight, next week here on Explosion. You will feel the Golden Touch, and I guarantee you Lesnar that you will never forget the name of... [inhales deeply again, rubbing his chest] ...GOLDUST.

[Goldust bites towards the camera. He kisses the chair he's holding before he walks away.]

* * * * *

Match #6
Television Title Match
"The Role Model" AJ Styles (c) vs. The Hurricane
This match promised to be a good one as AJ Styles defended the Television Title against The Hurricane. Styles has made it his mission to make the Amazing Red's life a living hell, but he needed to be focused to get past The Hurricane tonight, who is capable of beating anybody on any given night. These two work very well together in the ring. Styles had the advantage in this one as halfway through the contest, Matt Hardy Version 1.0 and his tag-along Shannon "All That And" Moore stood in the aisleway, watching this contest. The Hurricane saved Teddy Hart last night from a beating at the hands of the Followers of Mattitude, so this didn't look good for everyone's favorite superhero. Luckily for the sake of his good match, the MF'ers never got involved. The end of this one came as Styles showed why he's one of the smartest wrestlers in the world today, reversing The Hurricane's Eye of the Hurricane attempt into the Styles Clash. I don't are who you are, but you're not kicking out of that.

AJ Styles pinned The Hurricane with the Styles Clash in 0:07:25.
Rating: *** 1/2
(AJ Styles retained the GCW Television Title.)

Hardy and Moore headed to the back without incident as Styles celebrated a successful title defense. Styles is an arrogant man, but thus far, he's been able to back it up in the ring.

* * * * *

[Tommy Dreamer is in his locker room putting things into a gym bag. The World Heavyweight champion "The Crippler" Chris Benoit comes in and pats Dreamer on the back, getting his attention.]

TD: What's up, Chris? Hey, congrats on the win last night. World champion, eh?

CB: Thanks. How's the head feeling?

TD: I've been better. They say it's a mild concussion. I should be cleared to wrestle again by next week.

CB: Good, because I talked it over with President Niemiller, and you're getting the first title shot against me next week. You had the balls to take it to me last night with a kendo stick. That shows just how bad you want this title; you know what it means. And you're going to have your chance next week to prove to me how bad you want it.

TD: Benoit, I have all the respect in the world for you, and I appreciate this opportunity. But just know that I'm coming at you full steam, and I will do anything, and I do mean ANYTHING to become World champion.

CB: I'd expect nothing less.

[Benoit and Dreamer shake hands and engage in a brief staredown before Benoit takes his leave.]

* * * * *

Match #7
"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels vs. Matt Hardy Version 1.0 (w/ Shannon Moore)
Shawn Michaels came within an eyelash of taking the World Heavyweight Title last night, and he feels as though he should be the number-one contender because of this. Matt Hardy knew that he would move far up the card if he could get a win over the legendary Heartbreak Kid. Hardy wrestled a very aggressive match, knowing that if you let HBK dictate the pace, more often than not, he's going to beat you. Hardy got a lot of offense in this match, but HBK is a veteran and knows how to pick his spots, never letting Hardy get too much of an advantage. Late in the match, HBK went for the Sweet Chin Music, but Hardy ducked, catching Michaels with a hard clothesline. Hardy immediately screamed out in pain, holding his left arm. In an awkward sequence, HBK got back to his feet and quickly hit the Sweet Chin Music, giving him the pinfall victory.

Shawn Michaels pinned Matt Hardy with the Sweet Chin Music in 0:08:34.
Matt Hardy tore his left triceps. He will be out for approximately 3 months.
Rating: *** 1/4

Medical personnel came down to the ring to check on Hardy, who was obviously in a lot of pain. We found out later that Hardy suffered a torn left triceps muscle and is going to be out of action for around 3 months. We wish Matt Hardy a speedy recovery.

Match #8
"Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero vs. "Y2J" Chris Jericho (w/ Justin Credible)
These two men do not like each other, plain and simple. They wrestled each other on the debut show back on March 29th, where Jericho took the win by making Guerrero submit to the Walls of Jericho. Guerrero didn't want that to happen again, as he took it straight to Jericho. This wasn't the best match these two have ever put on, but what made it special was that the rivalry that these two have developed made this a hard-hitting affair. By the end of this one, Jericho could barely lift his left arm after how relentlessly Latino Heat attacked it, and Guerrero was bleeding from the forehead after Jericho slammed Guerrero head first into the ringpost. The crowd was giving these two a standing ovation by the end, and rightfully deserved. In the end, Jericho brought Guerrero down after a double power bomb. Jericho played to the crowd before going for the Walls of Jericho. Guerrero fought Jericho off, kicking him hard into the turnbuckle. Jericho stumbled out into a Guerrero dropkick. As Jericho got back up, Guerrero hit a brain buster. Guerrero, being the veteran he is, didn't waste any time jumping up to the top turnbuckle and hitting the Frog Splash on Jericho, earning a hard fought victory!

Eddie Guerrero pinned Chris Jericho with the Frog Splash in 0:09:18.
Rating: ***

A bloody Eddie Guerrero celebrated as Milwaukee gave him a standing ovation. Jericho and Guerrero now each have a victory a piece over the other in singles competition. I'm not sure if that gridlock is going to sit well with either of these two fiery athletes.

* * * * * [Mario Riviera stands backstage with a microphone.]

MR: Throughout the night, I went and got some pre-match comments from all of the participants in tonight's main event Four-Corners Match for the vacant North American Title. Let's here what they had to say!

[LANCE STORM]

LS: Tonight I have a huge opportunity. Our World Heavyweight champion is a proud Canadian, Chris Benoit. I can make it two when I bring back the North American Title to Calgary......... Alberta, Canada. It still says 'wrestling' on the marquee, and I might not be the flashiest guy in the world, but I will put my wrestling ability against anyone in the world. Tonight I will leave as the champion.

[RANDY ORTON]

RO: Everyone's so quick to say that there's dissension in the ranks of the Sensationals, trouble in paradise. Well there's nothing that eases troubled waters like a little championship gold. John Cena wants to pack up his things and go home? Boohoo. Whatever. Just a window left wide open for the third-generation superstar, the soon-to-be legend, the man with the biggest upside in wrestling today, Randy Orton. And on an even brighter side, I get to take out that poor hippy wannabe Rob Van Dam at the same time. You're looking at the next North American champion, folks.

[HARDCORE HOLLY]

HH: Who the hell does John Cena think he is? He gets lucky and gets past me last night, and then he just up and leaves? He thinks he's a big shot? Well I got news for you. Hardcore Holly is the Big Shot around here, not Cena, and not anybody else! And I'm going to prove it tonight when I become the new North American champion!

[ROB VAN DAM]

RVD: Everyone's making a big deal about the North American Title being vacant. Hey, it's cool. It happens. And it just turns out that it's a good opportunity for R-V-D. I gotta beat 3 other guys? Hey, no big deal. I'm Mr. Monday Night. I'm the Whole F'n Show. And tonight, you're gonna here Willy Buck saying, "The winner, and new North American champion... [points to himself] Rob... Van... Dam." Peace.

Match #9
MAIN EVENT
For the VACANT North American Title
Elimination Four Corners Match
"The Whole F'n Show" Rob Van Dam vs. "The Big Shot" Hardcore Holly vs. Randy Orton vs. Lance Storm
John Cena's departure from Global Championship Wrestling has opened the door for these four individuals, as we were going to see a new North American champion crowned. It was either going to be Rob Van Dam, Randy Orton, Lance Storm, or the runner-up in the original North American Title Tournament Hardcore Holly. Although this match was elimination style, for much of this match, none of these individuals would allow anyone else to get a pinfall. Call it pride, call it stubbornness, but what I'll call it is exciting, and I think the reaction the Milwaukee fans gave this match would support my claim. It would be almost 20 minutes into the match before we'd see our first elimination as none of these four wanted to give in. The first to go down though would be Hardcore Holly though, as Lance Storm caught him out of nowhere with the rolling Maple Leaf, and Holly, whose leg had been worked over thoroughly in this match, had no choice but to submit.

Lance Storm was immediately jumped from behind by Randy Orton though. Orton nailed the Canadian with a low blow while referee Jimmy Appleseed was getting Hardcore Holly out of the ring, and thus, had his back turned. Orton followed by bringing Storm down with a modified reverse neckbreaker. Not much longer after that, Orton hit his finisher, the RKO, and Lance Storm joined Hardcore Holly in the dressing room.

This brought us down to just two men, and it was what everyone wanted to see. Randy Orton and Rob Van Dam. These two have been at each other's throats since Day One here in GCW, but they haven't been able to duke it out one-on-one yet... until now. The two locked up, and Orton went right for RVD's eyes. Orton went on the offense, bringing RVD down and locking him in a bodyscissors. RVD fought back out with some forearms, and went for a boot to Orton's midsection, but the Sensational caught it. RVD countered by hitting a stepover spinning kick that caught Orton right in the temple for a nearfall. RVD hit a standing moonsault which also got him a nearfall. RVD would go for the Rolling Thunder, but Orton got his knees up, causing damage to the Whole F'n Show's back. Orton went to work on RVD's back, taking him down with a powerslam which got a 2 count. Orton became cocky as he wore RVD down, heading to the top rope, but RVD crotched him, causing Orton to fall to the canvas. RVD followed up with a split-legged moonsault, but Orton managed to et his foot on the bottom rope to break up the count. RVD pulled Orton out to the center of the ring before heading to the top, presumably for the Five Star Frog Splash. Orton had enough left in the tank to crotch RVD on the top. Orton got up and locked RVD up, and took him down with a top-rope RKO! Needless to say, RVD wasn't getting up. In a hard fought battle, Randy Orton was the new North American champion.

Four Corners Match for the vacant GCW North American Title:
Randy Orton defeated Hardcore Holly, Lance Storm and Rob Van Dam:
x L. Storm beat H. Holly via the Maple Leaf in 0:19:55
x R. Orton beat L. Storm via the RKO in 0:21:08
x R. Orton beat RVD via the RKO in 0:26:05
Rating: ***
(Randy Orton won the GCW North American Title.)

We went off the air with an exhausted Randy Orton holding the North American Title high in the air. The Sensationals now own some gold. Will they be able to right the ship now? Also, who will GCW President Ryan Niemiller declare the number-one contender? Tune it next week to find out!
DarkAndEvilBastardPosted on 05/11/04 at 01:05:44

I hate quitters.  Cena should be strung up for quitting while champion.

Love the whole "presenting of the title" bit...and "Prove Me Wrong" is the only good attempt at a Benoit catchphrase, like, ever.

Good stuff, though.  My favorite story has to be the continuing Brock-Goldust feud.

91Posted on 05/11/04 at 19:15:44

I really liked this one actually. Good presentation - the match details were long enough for me to get the gist of what went on without being so long that I just scrolled past them for one, but also the way the matches and storylines were structured, I liked.
Snabbit888Posted on 05/11/04 at 19:30:01

Thank you.  I hope you continue to read GCW. :)
JoshiQPosted on 05/21/04 at 02:04:52

Normal excuse: Internet has been funny.

Here's your reply. :)

Looking good in the main event scene. I like Benoit as a champ, but I don't see him holding onto the title for long. Angle or Jericho will probably take it which will eventually lead to their feud, but for now I like it. :)

Oh, and BTW, you are still doing an awesome job with the interviews. You have always been one of the better interviewers in TNM.

I'm a fan of Daniels, and the whole Triple X concept so I like seeing them go over. Rey Rey is one of those wrestlers I never know what to do with.

I like the complete jobbing of Nowinski. He doesn't deserve to be in the same ring as Angle!

I'm one of those guys that actually kind of likes Credible. He wasn't too bad as the top heel of a fed. But at the same time you are doing such a good job with turning his "I'm just incred..." that I'm laughing most of the time. In other words, good job.

I would say something about the Bashams/London&Kidman, but I really don't care.

I wonder how often the tag team champs lose singles matches, but win the tag title match has been used? I would bet a lot. I still loving doing it. Good old-school wrestling there.

Not a big fan of DDP so I'm glad to see him squashed. Now make him go away.

Dreamer has about as much chance of becoming World Champ as I do.

What's up with all the squashes? Not many of these matches I couldn't predict.

Sounds like a great match between Guerrero and Jericho. Interesting build-up and I am really looking forward to the final pay-off match.

Mario Rivera? For a second there I thought you had the Yankees closer as your interviewer.

Anyways, good stuff all around. I'm liking most of what's going on. A lot of these wrestlers don't seem like they would mesh very well, but you are making it work. So far, so good.
