The First Family of WCW

Sting - What a troubled year for Sting, as he has warred with old rivals and overcome major obstacles, only to have WCW purchased by Ted DiBiase, his reputation tarnished by Raven's revelations and most of his friends turn their backs on him.

Raven - Love him or hate him, but the last half of 2000 has revolved around him. Raven set the bar to new extremes when he crucified Sting with barbed wire at Clash of the Champions. Raven screwed Vader out of the WCW World Title, and has fended off every challenger since. His destiny awaits him at Starrcade.

Vampiro - Sting's "Brother in Paint", Vampiro joined Sting back in the spring, and has helped him fight Hogan, The Horsemen, Insurrection, The Elite, Raven's Nest and Daniels' Church. Current Tag Team Champion with Crowbar, Vampiro has disassociated himself with Sting after the revelation that Sting is Daffney's father.

Crowbar - Vampiro's young partner and Daffney's fiancee, Crowbar has made great strides in proving that he is, in fact, ready to be a major player in WCW.

Daffney - This young lady has been the focus of a lot of controversy. Raven's sister and Sting's daughter...and soon to be Crowbar's wife...Daffney has had everything she's believed ripped away from her, and only Crowbar and Vampiro have remained by her side. She has also found herself as the object of an obsession by Christopher Daniels.

Onryo - The Vengeful Spirit emerged from the ring the night after Fall Brawl and brutally assaulted Sting, and has remained by Raven's side since. Never explaining his actions, Onryo has proven to be surprisingly popular with the fans, even as he has at times fought their heroes.

WCW's Heroes

Booker T - Sting's stalwart ally, Booker T shocked the World by emerging as a top man in 2000, winning the WCW World title and picking up huge wins over Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage. Booker T was recently given an endorsement by Hogan, after the Hulkster credited Booker for his Halloween Havoc return to the Red-and-Yellow. Booker T has been targeted by recent WCW arrival The Undertaker.

The Patriot - People make mistakes, and The Patriot has made many in his short return to WCW. Originally aiding Sting in his war with Insurrection, The Patriot was bought by Ted DiBiase, only to ask the fans for forgiveness after his short-lived partnership with Scott Steiner came to a violent end.

Riki Anoia - Another former Elite member, Riki Anoia seemed to come to his senses after the untimely death of his cousin Rodney.

Diamond Dallas Page - The People's Champion returned to WCW after The Wolf-Pac's harassment of Kimberly. Finding himself allied with Jim Duggan and Chavo Guerrero Jr., Page is seeking Nash's blood.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. - Drawn into the Wolf-Pac feud after a routine match was signed between him and Sean Waltman, Chavo has excited the fans with his passion in battling the Red-and-Black.

Chris Benoit - Returning to WCW at the World War 3 PPV, Benoit has made a huge impact, getting the Wolf-Pac's way and even battling Raven the night after his return. Benoit is driven and focused on one thing: The WCW World Title.

Sexton Hardcastle - Perhaps the most popular man in wrestling, Sex has won the New Mexico title, the TV title and the U.S. Title twice! Originally brought to WCW by Stacy Keibler, Sex has since found love with Pamela Paulshock.

The Evil

The Undertaker - The Dead Man walks again, this time in WCW. After nearly a month of warnings, The Undertaker emerged at World War 3, driving Booker T to Hell in his title match with Raven. With Jake Roberts by his side, there could be no end to his path of destruction.

The Wolf-Pac

Kevin Nash - The frontman for the Wolf-Pac, Big Sexy started off the year as Commissioner, but is ending the year in a violent feud with Diamond Dallas Page. Despite having problems with Scott Hall along the way, Nash and Hall have reconciled and, with Waltman, have reformed the heart of the former nWo's red and black attack.

Scott Hall - The Lone Wolf...or Nash's right hand man? Hall and Nash have had their problems, but they're also more like brothers than friends. The Outsiders are back on the attack, representing anti-establishment in WCW.

Sean Waltman - Originally returning to take up his issues with Eric Bischoff, Sean Waltman and The Wolf-Pac showed their true colors by betraying Kane and sending him straight back to Hell! Waltman's return to his old self has helped Chavo Guerrero Jr. get a lot of fan approval as he has been the one to stand up to Waltman.

The Former Commissioner Cat

Ernest Miller - The Cat returned to WCW as the "World Champion of New Mexico", with his ever-popular bodyguard Mr. Joshua in tow. After Sex won that title, Cat and Joshua had a falling out, and The Cat found himself arbitrating Ted DiBiase and Eic Bischoff's ownership disputes. Gaining the fans' approval with some of his decisions, The Cat has recently returned to the ring since DiBiase removed him from the Commissioner's position.

Reno - The Cat's bodyguard is a Power Plant original, a rough and tumble bruiser who favors the kendo stick as a weapon. Reno's never afraid to fight, and he never leaves The Cat's side.

The Man of 1,000 Names

Sid Vicious - Enak. Sid Flair. Sidberg. SidSting. El Santo Del Nacho.
Sid has had an interesting year, what with his multiple personalities and all. No one's quite sure what snapped inside Sid or when, but before he ever makes a run at the World Title again, he may need a therapist first.

The Church of Darkness

Christopher Daniels - The Leader of a demented church, Daniels seems to be fashioning himself as a Latter-Day Raven, even as Raven seems to be rejecting his own cult. Daniels has tried to cripple Onryo and has been stalking Daffney, invoking the ire of Raven and Sting for his actions. But his biggest fear may be the return of the Vengeful Spirit.

The Hardy Boyz - Jeff Hardy arrived in WCW as part of Ted DiBiase's Elite, and reunited with his brother Matt when Matt Hardy posed as Sting's partner. Matt and Jeff seemed to withdraw from The Elite, though, and have found themselves under the sway of Christopher Daniels in his Church. Their sites are set on Vampiro & Crowbar and their WCW Tag Team Titles.

The Elite

Ted DiBiase - The Owner of WCW, Ted DiBiase used help from Eric Bischoff to purchase the company after Berlyn made the product a liability for Time-Warner shareholders and then double-crossed Bischoff to remove him from World Championship Wrestling. Trying to simultaneously juggle The Elite, The Church and The Nest, DiBiase is in the middle of a delicate balancing act that would have blown up a LONG time ago without the help of Smooth.

M.I. Smooth - Ted DiBiase's limo driver has had his hands in everything, from helping Buff Bagwell harass Stacy Keibler to helping Raven uncover the truth about Sting and Daffney to screwing Hulk Hogan out of his career and Eric Bischoff out of his share of WCW. Now...just who in the Heck is he on the phone with?

Goldberg - The Machine. The Cyborg. An unstoppable monster. Goldberg turned his back on the fans earlier this year, and has never looked back. From costing Hogan his career to trying to destroy Sting, Goldberg is building his legacy on the bodies of heroes. Goldberg can also hold the claim of never being beaten for the WCW World Title, since Magnum T.A. stripped him of it instead.

Andrew Martin - The former Test made his true mark in WCW by demolishing Kane and locking him in a burning casket. Martin and Goldberg have formed the new core of the Elite, kicking tail and taking names. Martin's recent damage was against El Santo Del Nacho, after brutalizing Sid with a chair at Halloween Havoc. Martin's current goal is the U.S. Title held by Sex.

Scott Steiner - Big Poppa Pump is nearly insane these days, destroying anyone and everyone he can get his hands on. But Steiner's current assignment is to crush his former teammates, The Patriot and Riki Anoia.

Psicosis - While not technically a member of The Elite, Psicosis asked for a "spot" and has been told by DiBiase to prove that he's worthy of being "Elite". What will it take?

Raven's Nest

Maxx Payne & Hugh Morrus - Since the summer, Morrus and Payne have been compatriots, whether battling Rey Misterio & Konnan, Vampiro & Crowbar or The Hardy Boyz. Feeling rejected by Raven and the attention he shows Onryo, Payne and Morrus still fight their leader's enemies nonetheless.

Gangrel - The vampire warrior emerged, reincarnated, as a wildman from the woods...facial hair, scruffy look, dirty clothes, Gangrel is more animal than man these days.

Luna Vachon - Brought in as an equalizer against Daffney, Luna hangs on Gangrel's arm in Raven's Nest, helping her man out whenever she can.

My Two Doinks

Big Josh - WCW's favorite lumberjack returned to WCW earlier this year, but found his past haunting him as this evil clown began stalking him throughout the country and even into Australia! The mindgames are getting to Josh...but to what end?

Doink the Clown - The identity of Doink remains a mystery, as does his motivations. Why would someone try to gaslight Josh in such a way? And what happens when Doink succeeds and Josh DOES snap?

Vandenburg's Collection of the Bizarre

James Vandenburg - The sinister Vandenburg is guiding his collection of freaks and psychos, which some fans in WCW hate and which some are oddly compelled to watch. Vandenburg has even recruited his former enemy Glacier into his ranks!

Glacier - Vandenburg's old enemy joined forces with James last summer, and has followed his dark ways ever since.

Black Blood - The former WCW hatchetman was brough back by Vandenburg as well, and he's enjoyed moderate success in WCW since then.

La Parka - How bizarre does this collection look? The Skull Captain was left behind when Psicosis bailed out on the team and he fell before Psicosis when Vandenburg tried to exact revenge.

Magnum T.A.'s Plan for the Future

Magnum T.A. - The former WCW commissioner has resurfaced as the manager of Mark Jindrak and Sean O'Haire, a powerful pair of WCW Power Plant members. T.A. hasn't shyed away from taking his men to war, even sending them after Goldberg and Steiner!

Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire - Content to let T.A. do most of the talking, Jindrak and O'Haire have impressed fans with their speed and strength, and could well rack up quite the tag team record!

Mercenary for Hire

Steve Blackman - Blackman has no friends in WCW any longer, as he simply works for the highest bidder. Not concerned with feuds or titles, Blackman is simply in it for the money, and the pleasure he gets from breaking bones.

An Island Unto Himself

The Giant - Brought back to WCW by Jeff Jarrett, The Giant was left without any friends when Jarrett bailed out on WCW. He got outdone by Sex at World War 3, but instead of being angry, he seems to have gained respect for Sex. Whoever gets The Giant on their side will have a powerful ally.

The Angry Man

Big T - Former Harlem Heat 2000 member Big T arrived at World War 3 and threw one-night returnee Stevie Ray out en route to winning his battle royal. Big T demanded a shot at Sex the following night on Nitro and got wiped out by a belt shot from Sex. Guess how happy he is.

The Texas Outlaws

Barry Windham & Dustin Rhodes - These guys are having problems most tag teams couldn't dream of when Rhodes went after Windham and tried to KISS him...to prove he's not gay. This is bleeding over in-ring, keeping them from having much success as a team.

Once a Horseman...

Dean Malenko - Another recent WCW wrestler to return, Malenko's biggest claim to fame since returning has been to eliminate Goldberg at World War 3 and then lay an ominous taunt the following night about not messing with a Horseman...

The Disenfranchised

Berlyn - Arguably the most controversial man in WCW, Berlyn joined Insurrection and stole the U.S. title, painting a Swastika on it. Then he torched the American flag, forcing WCW off the air. After The Patriot joined The Elite, Berlyn masterminded a Dark Patriot scam that drove The Patriot up the wall before unmasking and joining forces with DiBiase's business partner Eric Bischoff. After all, Berlyn made it possible for DiBiase and Bischoff to buy WCW.

Justin Credible - After emerging with an impact by attacking Booker T and then capturing the U.S. title, Justin Credible has been caught in the political backlash of being on the wrong end of the Bischoff-DiBiase power struggle. He and Berlyn are still young, however, and have time to salvage their situations.

Buff Bagwell - Kind of associated with The Elite in the sense that he and Smooth seem to have struck up something of a friendship, Bagwell has had his tag team partner (Billy Kidman) ran out of WCW, lost his girlfriend (Stacy Kiebler) and just can't seem to catch a break.

Juventud Guerrera & Konnan - When Juvy got in over his head with Reese the Freak, it was Konnan that saved the day. The two men are representing Mexico now, as they take on all comers in the Tag Team division.

Wrath - A big man with a ton of potential, Wrath has made some missteps by joining The KISS Army and later a team with Chris Daniels. He was last seen getting squashed by The Giant.

Stacy Keibler - The gorgeous former Nitro girl has been spurned by Sex, used by Smooth & Bagwell and rejected by Sting. It's okay. She's pretty. She'll land on her feet.

The Cruiserweight Division

Blitzkrieg - The man with the photographic reflexes just can't get a winning streak together to match his incredible skill.

Kaz - Beat Kaz, if you can...survive, if he lets you. Kaz is the cruiserweight master of submission, and the master of the Kazplex!

Tajiri - The master of the deadly mist and the Buzzsaw Kick, to say nothing of the Tarantula, Tajiri entered WCW at Vader's side, but has struck out on his own since.

Kendo Ka Shin, Air Paris & Julio Sanchez - Heels trying to get ahead in the cruiserweight ranks, these three men only care about winning.

Danger!

High Voltage - The official Jobber Tag Team of WCW, Rage and Kaos put over team after team in WCW dark matches.

Pin Me, Pay Me

Barry Darsow - The official singles jobber of WCW, Barry Darsow does for singles wrestlers what High Voltage does for tag teams.

Pretty good summary Tommy.
