DarkAndEvilBastard | Posted on 05/05/04 at 23:59:59 (A video package recaps Nitro, including Hogan taking the ball bat to Sting; Steiner's return and his attack on Flair; The brawl between KISS; Norman Smiley; The Mamalukes & Disco; The Wall laying Crowbar out; Sean P. Nile beating Jim Duggan; Buff Bagwell, Kidman, Candido and Booker brawling; Jarrett shattering a guitar over Bret's head; Vampiro saving Sting from Hogan & Hennig.) We are TAPED inside the Wicomico Civic Center! Backstage, Symphony is arguing with Sean P. Nile, then she storms away. She bumps into Norman Smiley, and begs Norman to fight Sean for her. He won't agree to it at first, but she lays her charm on him and he reluctantly agrees. Nile walks up and asks if she's serious, then starts laughing at Norman. Smiley gets ticked and cheap shots him! Nile tackles him to the ground and they start brawling! Match #1 Team 2000 vs The Mamalukes w/Disco Inferno Johnny the Bull continues to impress as he overpowers Chono and turns him into a rag doll, despite double-teaming from Chono and Super J. Chono gets victimized by a Bull-Vito double-team setup, but he knocks Vito down with an elbow. Super J complains of a slow count after he tags in and covers Vito, and proceeds to dismantle Vito with a brainbuster and a flying clothesline. Johnny tags back in and he overruns Super J, holding the advantage until a Mamalukes' double-team attempt backfires. A low blow sets up a Super J powerbomb that gets two, but Johnny turns a lariat attempt into an armbar submission to take control. The KISS Army comes down to ringside and Disco backs away to Vito's corner, and their presence allows Super J the upper hand again. Starbearer jumped up on the apron, distracting Johnny the Bull who took a swing at him. Turning his attention back to the match, he walked into a Super J jumping DDT for the win! Team 2000 defeated The Mamalukes when Super J pinned The Bull after a jumping DDT in 0:06:37. Rating: 1/4* (commercials) When we return, we are backstage with David Flair, Daffney and Crowbar. Cro wbar is lacing up his boots when he pointedly asks David Flair if he can count on him tonight. David looks stunned (insert joke here) and asks what that's supposed to mean. Crowbar says that David hasn't exactly been a supportive tag team partner lately, and then mutters something about him never having been. David takes offense and shoves Crowbar, which sets Crowbar off. They nearly come to blows, but Daffney tries to intervene and one of the two shoves her pretty roughly over a bench, causing her to hit her head against a locker. Crowbar immediately feels bad and begins to check on her, while David starts screaming at Crowbar and claiming it is his fault. Daffney says she'll be okay and Crowbar and David take her to the trainer, when Mike Graham tells them it's time for their match. Match #2 XS vs David Flair & Crowbar David actually attacked Rave like a madman, keeping him on the defensive with an aggressive assault. Lane tagged in and Crowbar actually came in for a double-team, but when David Flair started yelling at him, it allowed Lane the opportunity to German Suplex the young Flair! Lane hit some big moves and started getting cocky, and ran into a Flair clothesline! Flair tagged in Crowbar, who fought off both members of XS and then tagged Flair back in! David looked ticked, but Crowbar blew Flair off and started walking away! Lane & Rave began beating him down, and Lane drove him down with the Memory Lane! XS defeated Crowbar and David Flair when Lane pinned D. Flair with the Memory Lane in 0:04:48. Rating: -* 1/4 David Flair called Crowbar back into the ring, and they nearly came to blows! A shoving match started and David Flair started to swing when The Wall grabbed him! As the Wall chokeslammed him, Crowbar lunged at him and got a chokeslam of his own! The Wall picked up Flair's crowbar and smashed it into David's ribs! Then he smashed Crowbar over the back of the head with it! The Wall set a table up and laid David on it...and then Chokeslammed Crowbar on top of him! (commercials) Match #3 "The Chairman of WCW" La Parka vs The Great Muta Muta and La Parka hit a quick exchange from the get go, but Muta was quicker ducking those spinning leg lariats, though he walked into a spinning backbreaker. La Parka blocked a scorpion attempt, and after a brawling sequence, hit a powerbomb! They took it outside and Muta ate him alive, but La Parka blocked a piledriver and delivered a Jack-knife powerbomb! Wearing Muta down with a pair of double chickenwings, La Parka hit a spinning backbreaker for a near fall. La Parka used a drop toehold and then went up top, blasting Muta with a Twisting Bodyblock! La Parka was frustrated to see Muta's foot on the ropes...but he didn't see anything else following a jet of green mist being spit in his eyes! La Parka managed to feel his way around and get ahold of Muta to lock on submissions, but Muta took him down everytime, and after a Frankensteiner, Muta delivered the Moonsault! The Great Muta pinned La Parka with the Moonsault in 0:12:55. Rating: **** (commercials) ***The rest of the summaries will be kinda crappy from here on*** Match #4 Juventud Guerrera & Psicosis vs Rey Misterio Jr. & Jyushin "Thunder" Lyger More great action like we have come to expect from these four, with several insane spots like Juvy attempting a slingshot plancha and Rey side-stepping. Rey spent the middle part of the match playing Ricky Morton, but during the "hot tag" sequence with Lyger, a blown spot seems to have taken Juvy's knee out. It was Psicosis with a dropkick to set up the Flying Legdrop and the clean win over Lyger & Rey! Juventud Guerrera and Psicosis defeated Rey Misterio Jr. and Jyushin Lyger when Psicosis pinned Lyger with the Flying Legdrop in 0:12:42. Rating: *** (commercials) Booker was backstage and he made it real clear: He was sick of screwin' around with Kidman and Candido and he was tired of messin' with that punk Bagwell. So Booker offered to put the US Title on the line at Spring Stampede in a 4-Way Dance against the three of them! The Horsemen came to the ring and took charge. Flair promised Big Poppa Pump that he would go to school and Dustin Rhodes says that no one messes with the Horsemen like that and gets away with it. Goldberg went off on Steiner and Sid, but Luger and Liz stood in the corner, conspicuously quiet. The Horsemen finished their extended rant and we went to... (commercials) Match #5 Starbearer vs Disco Inferno The match had barely started when the KISS Army came down to ringside. The Mamalukes followed, though, but they let Starbearer and Disco fight it out for a good while. King of Beasts got involved first, and that prompted Vito to smash Starbearer with a chair. Disco couldn't yet finish him off, and before he could, Starbearer landed the Falling Star! Starbearer pinned Disco Inferno with the Falling Star in 0:10:03. Rating: * The Mamalukes and Disco started brawling with The KISS Army when Norman came down and joined in the battle! They brawled into the break. (commercials) Scott Steiner, DDP, Bam Bam and Kimberly are in the ring - Kim noticeably standing with Page between her and Steiner - and Bam Bam tells Steiner right off that they have his back tonight against The Horsemen. Steiner goes off on the Horsemen in his own unique manner, and inadvertently seems to anger Page. Page and Steiner have a few tense looks, as bad blood seems to have not died completely, but nothing comes of it and they finish out the interview. Match #6 King of Beasts & The Demon vs Diamond Dallas Page & Bam Bam Bigelow w/Kimberly King of Beasts dominated both men for some time, and tonight was "formula night" on the Thunder tapings as DDP became Ricky Morton for the evening. Page kicked out after the KISS Army hit their tag finisher, KoB using the Death Penalty to set up a Demon flying kneedrop, and Dallas made the hot tag! Bam Bam was a house afire, hitting the Greetings from Asbury Park to pin the King of Beasts! Diamond Dallas Page and Bam Bam Bigelow defeated KISS Army (King of Beasts and The Demon) when Bigelow pinned Beasts with the Greetings from Asbury Park in 0:07:42. Rating: 3/4* (commercials) The Mamalukes, Disco and Smiley come out, laughing at the misfortune of Demon and King of Beasts. Disco then issues a challenge for Spring Stampede: 8-Man elimination match, The Mamalukes, Norman Smiley and The Disco Inferno vs The KISS Army! Symphony comes out and reminds Norman that he agreed to fight Sean P. Nile, and The Mamalukes look miffed. They tell him to take care of that and be ready to kick some KISS ass, while Disco tries to calm them down, telling them Smiley will handle it. KISS makes their way back out and an 8-man brawl breaks out! Nile hits the ring and ambushes Smiley, pulling him out of the ring! They start brawling down the aisle, leaving Disco and The Mamalukes outnumbered! Starbearer and Celestial isolate Vito, and they use a chair to break his arm! KISS leaves Disco and The Mamalukes laying! (commercials) Match #7 The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Iaukea w/Paisley vs Sabu Things looked bad at the beginning, as The Artist dominated Sabu. Using a little help from Paisley, The Artist held the advantage on Sabu until he went for a senton and no one was home! Sabu brought a chair in the ring and slammed TAFKAPI on it a couple of times and then used it for a moonsault! He brought the steps in the ring next, and after a stiff head shot with the steps, Sabu hit the Triple Jump Moonsault to avenge the pinfall from Monday Night! Sabu pinned Prince Iaukea with the Triple Jump Moonsault in 0:09:18. Rating: * The Outsiders headed to the ring and start laughing at the problems being had by Jarrett and Hart, or rather, Jarrett's aim. Hall comments that those guitar shots can't be good for a concussion, and Nash mentions that one would think that someone with as much practice swinging a guitar as Jarrett would be able to hit who he's swinging at. Nash and Hall then exchange a funny look. (commercials) Match #8 Ric Flair w/Arn Anderson vs Scott Steiner Steiner was all-offense in the opener, suplexing Flair around and clotheslining him to the mat. Flair fought back with eye gouges and low blows, and Dustin Rhodes made his way out. Steiner got brutal out on the floor, whipping Flair's back into the ring steps and guardrails. Some akward spots in the ring followed, and Steiner continued his assault, until Rhodes pulled him out of the ring and started laying into him. Scott Steiner defeated Ric Flair by disqualification in 0:10:57. Rating: 1/2* Rhodes threw Steiner in the ring and start smashing him in the face with the cowbell, drawing blood. Rhodes continued his assault as DDP and Bam Bam took off on a mad tear to the ring! Flair started putting up a weak offense when Goldberg hit the ring! Goldberg speared Bam Bam, but DDP hit the Diamond Cutter on him, laying him out!! It was when Luger hit the ring that the tide shifted, as he brutalized Page from behind with a baseball bat and applied the Torture Rack!! (commercials) Match #9 Curt Hennig & Hulk Hogan vs Vampiro & Sting The big story in this match seemed to be that Sting was struggling through most of it and Vampiro was busting his ass, fighting both men off and saving Sting. Both teams used a lot of team work and seemed to click together, but the crowd just wasn't into it. Vamp got some nice support for his offense against both guys and Sting gut a big pop for the Scorpion Death Drop, but Hogan pulled the referee out of the ring to save Hennig. Sting went for a snap suplex at the end but Hennig blocked it, and Hogan smashed him in the back with the baseball bat! Hennig hit the Hennig Plex, and Sting lost it! Curt Hennig and Hulk Hogan defeated Sting and Vampiro when Curt Hennig pinned Sting with the Hennig Plex in 0:13:24. Rating: -* Vampiro came in only to get nailed by Hogan as well, and Hogan started hammering Vampiro with the bat further! Hennig applied the Scorpion Death Lock to Sting, and Hogan dropped the Big Leg Drop on the back of Sting's head as Thunder went off the air. |
Snabbit888 | Posted on 05/06/04 at 01:16:33 OPENING SEGMENT *** Norman Smiley better kick Nile's ass. Match #1 Team 2000 vs The Mamalukes w/Disco Inferno Team 2000 defeated The Mamalukes when Super J pinned The Bull after a jumping DDT in 0:06:37. Rating: 1/4* *** Not sure what I think of this one. Just getting a little tired of all this KISS Army stuff I guess. BACKSTAGE: FLAIR/CROWBAR/DAFFNEY *** Don't break up the greatest team in history! Match #2 XS vs David Flair & Crowbar XS defeated Crowbar and David Flair when Lane pinned D. Flair with the Memory Lane in 0:04:48. Rating: -* 1/4 *** I figured this result was coming, but I still don't like it. :( And The Wall is like mean and stuff. Match #3 "The Chairman of WCW" La Parka vs The Great Muta The Great Muta pinned La Parka with the Moonsault in 0:12:55. Rating: **** *** Good match. That's about it. Good match. Match #4 Juventud Guerrera & Psicosis vs Rey Misterio Jr. & Jyushin "Thunder" Lyger Juventud Guerrera and Psicosis defeated Rey Misterio Jr. and Jyushin Lyger when Psicosis pinned Lyger with the Flying Legdrop in 0:12:42. Rating: *** *** Not quite the match rating I'd expect, but I'm glad to see the tag push continue for Juvy and Psicosis after their big win Monday. Psicosis should be in line for a CW Title shot I would think. Match #5 Starbearer vs Disco Inferno Starbearer pinned Disco Inferno with the Falling Star in 0:10:03. Rating: * *** I love Kanyon, but God I hate this gimmick. :) Match #6 King of Beasts & The Demon vs Diamond Dallas Page & Bam Bam Bigelow w/Kimberly Diamond Dallas Page and Bam Bam Bigelow defeated KISS Army (King of Beasts and The Demon) when Bigelow pinned Beasts with the Greetings from Asbury Park in 0:07:42. Rating: 3/4* *** Right result here... thank God. Match #7 The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Iaukea w/Paisley vs Sabu Sabu pinned Prince Iaukea with the Triple Jump Moonsault in 0:09:18. Rating: * *** Sabu gets his heat back. Good match. Match #8 Ric Flair w/Arn Anderson vs Scott Steiner Scott Steiner defeated Ric Flair by disqualification in 0:10:57. Rating: 1/2* *** Ack! Decent match until the DQ hits. Match #9 Curt Hennig & Hulk Hogan vs Vampiro & Sting Curt Hennig and Hulk Hogan defeated Sting and Vampiro when Curt Hennig pinned Sting with the Hennig Plex in 0:13:24. Rating: -* *** The baseball bat o' doom strikes again. Sting has taken two pinfall losses in a row to guys quote/unquote "below" him. |
DarkAndEvilBastard | Posted on 05/06/04 at 02:16:59 Yeah, everyone accuses me of pushing Sting over everyone, but I job him out like ALL the time to midcarders, and he rarely holds gold in my feds. I still spend most of my storyline efforts on him, though...=) Tommy |
