LIW Showdown In Buffalo - 5/6/06

Critic of the DawnPosted on 04/20/05 at 07:19:04

Looks like I discovered a little bug in the Captain's tag team rules and the way it integrates with the match scheduler.  Apparently stables are automatically placed in alphabetical order for the introductions, and this order carries over into who is appointed the captain of the team.  Even if you put someone first when you schedule the match, the person with the first name alphabetically will be considered the captain if everyone is a member of the same stable.  Can I have a cookie for figuring that out?

Rating: ** 3/4

Showdown in Buffalo started off with a bang as Snuka and Son took on Lance Storm and Kid Kash.  Storm and Kash haven't had much success here in LIW, so right from the beginning they attempted to get a win using any tactics they could.  After using the ropes for leverage and pulling the tights a half dozen times in just a few minutes, the referee had seen enough and called for the bell, giving Snuka and Son a DQ victory.  Still hoping to make an impact, Storm and Kash immediately jumped Jimmy Snuka after the decision, but Solo rushed into the ring and clotheslined Kid Kash out of the ring.  Lance Storm walked right into a huge backbreaker by Jimmy Snuka, then Solo sailed across the ring with the Superfly Splash, putting the exclamation point on the first victory of Snuka and Son.

Rating: *** 3/4

The crowd really didn't want to see Sean Waltman when he made his way to the ring, but after just a few minutes of his match against Wataru Sakata the fans were absorbed in what turned out to be an extremely solid strong style bout.  Waltman and Sakata exchanged a number of stiff kicks to a tremendous ovation from the crowd, then Sakata was finally able to ground Waltman with a series of submission holds which had the fans screaming for him to tap!  At length, Waltman fought his way free, but both his arms and his legs were weakened to the point that a later attempt to climb the ropes took far far too long, allowing Sakata to toss him to the ground once more and lock in the Single-Leg Crab Hold for a tap out victory!

[Lamont interfered against Masato Tanaka.]

Once again, immediately upon the entrance of Ernest "The Cat" Miller, the fans in Buffalo exploded into boos.  As he made his way to the ring, being introduced by his butler Lamont, they even started a "Please Don't Dance!" chant.  Miller ignored it, of course, and had just removed his sequined cloak when Masato Tanaka came running to the ring and proceeded to stiff the hell out of Miller for 15 minutes, much to the fans' delight.  Miller lasted far longer than expected due to the timely intervention of Lamont, but even that couldn't save him from Tanaka's wrath, and in the end a Roaring Elbow knocked him senseless for long enough for Tanaka to gain the victory.

(As Masato Tanaka departs in celebration, Lamont grabs the microphone.)

Lamont: Ladies and Gentlemen, while I cannot protest enough how terrible what
just happened to the Most Entertaining Man in Professional Wrestling History
was, I have good news for all of you!

(A few wiseguys in the crowd shout something about car insurance.)

Lamont: No, The Cat didn't just switch to Geico, but you're close.  You see,
Ernest Miller is known as the Hardest Working Man in Sports Entertainment for a
reason, and even though he has been unjustly battered, the show must go on!
So it is my pleasure to present to you, ERNEST "THE CAT" MILLER!

(The crowd explodes into boos as a notably battered Ernest Miller grabs the
microphone.  After taking a moment to catch his breath, he speaks.)

Ernest Miller: Owwwww!  Somebody call my momma, 'cause that bastard just beat
the blacks and blues into me!  But I'm Paid the Cost to be the Boss, so Hit the
music!

("Paid the Cost to be the Boss" by James Brown hits, and Miller dances around
the ring with more than a slight limp, much to the disgust of the fans, who boo
him wildly.  After several minutes of this lame dancing act, "Loser" by Beck
kicks in and Buffalo's own Mikey Whipwreck dashes to the ring.  Whippersnapper
to Lamont!  Whipwreck clotheslines Miller out of the ring, and he and his
manager beat a hasty retreat.)

Spurred on by the cheers of his hometown crowd, Mikey Whipwreck only looked mildly alarmed when the music of Johnny B. Badd hit.  Whipwreck attacked Badd with the same fire that he had used against Lamont and Ernest Miller, but Johnny B. Badd simply would not fall!  Eventually, growing frustrated at his inability to get any meaningful offense in, Badd shoved down the referee.  Whipwreck spun him around, and... Whippersnapper!  Senior Referee Ted Blandford runs to the ring... 1-2-3!  Mikey wins!  Mikey wins!

Rating: ** 1/2

Chris Jericho's opponent in this exhibition match turned out to be none other than Horace Hogan!  Horace has worked with LIW briefly in the past, and returned here tonight for one night only at the request of the booking committee.  Horace has quite the wrestling pedigree, and has much of the power displayed by his famous uncle.  It was thus remarkable that Jericho was able to come back after an early Full Nelson Slam, to lock in the Walls of Jericho, and finally to gain the victory with a crucifix roll up!  If Jericho maintains this sort of momentum, he will quickly advance here in LIW!

Randy Orton's mystery partner turned out to be none other than former New York State Heavyweight Champion (albeit for only one week) Erik Watts!  Cactus Jack and Kevin Nash appeared unimpressed... then proceeded to demolish Watts, with Cactus Jack eventually getting the pinfall with a Double Arm DDT.  As he turned to celebrate his win, Orton (who had snuck up behind him) spit right in his face.  Cactus Jack wiped the spittle off his chin, then charged Orton... only to be seperated by LIW officials!  Cactus Jack and Kevin Nash are forcibly removed from ringside while Orton waits in the ring.  Erik Watts stirs and rises... and is taken down by the RKO by Orton!  Orton screams that next time, he's going to find a REAL partner, and that he has just the man in mind for the job...

Simon Diamond came here desperately looking for a victory, because he simply hasn't been able to capture a major victory since he took over the International Thug Syndicate.  Unfortunately, his opponent tonight was none other than "Violent R" Ron Harris, who essentially shrugged off Diamond's offense before catching him with a quick Cobra Clutch Slam for the easy victory.  Better luck next time for Simon Diamond.

(We go backstage now, where the New York State Heavyweight Champion Arn
Anderson is posing for a promotional photograph.  Suddenly a high pitched voice
rings out.)

Voice: Get out of my way, you little (CENSORED)!

(The formidable figure of Scott Steiner shoves his way into the camera's line
of sight.)

Arn Anderson: What are you doing here, Scott?  Can't you see that I'm busy?

Scott Steiner: I don't care if you're busy or not, Double A!  The problem here
is that *I* am not busy!  Once again, the booking committee overlooks the one
real legitimate star that they have on their roster in favor of giving MY
opportunity to an old (CENSORED) like you!  I know that if we were in the ring,
I could beat my rightful spot out of your wrinkled grey ass!  HOLLA!  IF YA
HEAR ME!

(The camera guy and Arn Anderson both stare at Steiner.)

Arn Anderson: First of all, I'm right here.  Of course I hear you.  I'm not
deaf, you know!  And second... what exactly are you trying to say?

Scott Steiner: I'm saying that I want your ass in the ring!

(Again a long uncomfortable silence.)

Camera Guy: That sounded pretty gay, dude.

Scott Steiner: I'M NOT (CENSORED) (CENSORED) (CENSORED) GAY!  BOOMSHAKALAKA!

Arn Anderson: Riiiight.  Anyway... I HOPE that you mean you want a match.  If
that's what you're attempting to say...  Then I'll see you in the ring.  But...
no gay stuff, okay.

Scott Steiner: AARRRRRGH!  I'LL SHOVE MY SEMI-FUNCTIONAL FOOT UP YOUR
(CENSORED) ASS YOU (CENSORED) (CENSORED) (CENSORED) (CENSORED)!!!

(Everyone stares at Steiner again.)

Camera Guy: Dude.  You have problems.

(Fade out.)

Scott Steiner goaded New York State Heavyweight Champion Arn Anderson into a match when he wasn't prepared for one, and did he ever take advantage of the fact!  Steiner simply pummeled the crap out of Anderson, using almost no technical finesse in favor of utilizing pure power.  Since Anderson had not been able to warm up, he proved unable to escape from Steiner's power moves, and in short order landed in the Steiner Recliner, a hold that he would spend over two minutes in over the length of the match before finally tapping out!  Scott Steiner has defeated the champion!  You have to think that with this victory, he will be a shoe in for inclusion in a Top Contender's Match in the near future!

Another fantastic match!  Octagon and Too Cold Scorpio faced off in a fast paced battle pitting two of LIW's top high fliers against each other, and the contest was even from the beginning.  Scorpio went for the 450 early, but Octagon managed to escape the attempt and another that followed.  Octagon then turned things around by locking in the Octaclutch.  Scorpio escaped, but Octagon quickly took him back down and locked the lethal hold in once again!  Somehow, Scorpio managed to escape once more, and one moonsault later, he had become the top contender for Arn Anderson's New York State Heavyweight Title!

(New Europe and The Usurpers are backstage facing each other with several
referees in between them.)

Jonny Storm: Well Frank... here we are.  How does it feel to know that your
little experiment is about to come to an end?

(Frank Shamrock simply smiles smugly.)

Frank Shamrock: Skip the false bravado, Storm.  New Europe has been on its last
legs for months now.  This isn't going to be a battle... it's going to be a
mercy killing.  And when I make you tap out... You will THANK me!  THANK me for
saving you from seeing your hopes and dreams for the future of European
wrestling destroyed by the subpar wrestlers you've surrounded yourself with!

(Jonny Storm scowls.)

Jonny Storm: Perhaps you haven't been paying attention, but I have been at the
top of this company from the very beginning!  New Europe has fought you off
before, Frank, and tonight we will end the threat you pose... permanantly!

(The two groups jaw with each other, but neither makes the first move, as both
realize how serious their match will be.  Finally, Storm backs off a step.)

Jonny Storm: C'mon guys... it's time.

(Fade out.)

What a dramatic match!  The fans were totally torn as to who to support, so in the end they came out behind all of them, cheering each and every participant in this 45 minute long battle!  The match started out with each side tentatively feeling the other out, but it quickly picked up.  Both sides seemed fairly evenly matched... then The Usurpers tagged in "The Monster" Edward Chastain!  Chastain totally dominated New Europe, and it took Jonny Storm himself to take the big man down.  Even after the Super Rewind Huracanrana failed, he managed to hit a backspin DDT for a quick pinfall.  Frank Shamrock took Chastain's place, and he and Storm embarked on quite a fastpaced battle full of high risk maneuvers and brutal submissions.  In the end, Shamrock took Storm down with a single leg takedown, transitioned it into a leglock, and then into the Ankle Lock Submission, a combo which forced Storm to pass out.

Thinking they had won, The Usurpers began to celebrate... until the referee announced that the match would continue until the leader of New Europe was defeated!  That sneaky bastard!  Knowing he would be a target, Jonny Storm must have signed the leadership of New Europe to one of his partners in hopes that he could save New Europe!  El Mephisto and Stevie Knight immediately jumped Shamrock and Sabin, but without Storm's leadership they were eventually overcome.  Sabin hit his Future Shock on El Mephisto, and the referee announced The Usurpers as the winners!  Mephisto must have been the new leader!

Ladies and Gentlemen, New Europe is no more!

Match of the Evening: Scott Steiner vs. Arn Anderson

*****

Shaun SindelmanPosted on 04/20/05 at 18:09:15

Hard Knox officials were seen around the building during this event. One thinks that it has something to do with the upcoming supershow that Hard Knox is putting on and the likelihood of it being another joint promotion between Hard Knox & LIW.

Comments from Hard Knox officials about this evening's proceedings were as follows:

* Interesting to see Lance Storm, who happens to be ONE HALF of our tag team champions, gracing the ring of an LIW event. Such a shame that he chose Kid Kash as a partner not knowing how much of a liability Kash can be in the ring, hence the DQ loss his team suffered. It's no wonder that Kash was recently let go by NWA:TNA and had no where else to land but LIW.

* Sean Waltman obviously not too happy with the fact that Hard Knox did not grant him a title shot after he defeated their champion in a Non title contest and he was chased off to LIW to face Sakata who HKW will admit is an impressive competitor. I'm sure Sakata will be offered a chance to compete at the interpromotional event, should it end up being between HKW and LIW once again.

* Despite being interested in Masato Tanaka, HKW officials just could not bring themselves to sit around and watch Ernest Miller stink up the ring for a second, let alone 16 minutes.

* Nice to see that Mikey Whipwreck has finally gotten the hang of things and isn't the whipping boy he once was back in ECW. Also good to see that the referees are capable of making 3 counts here in LIW. Mikey's win tonight may surely have impressed us enough to put him on the card if we decide to hold our supershow in conjunction with LIW.

* Hmm, Y2J is forced to face the nephew of that washed up fool, Hulk Hogan. Horace did hold his own but Y2J was alot more impressive, in our eyes.

* Orton chooses Erik Watts to face Cactus & Nash...hmm, not sure if that was the best choice but then again, how many good choices has Orton made if he's wrestling for LIW? =) Orton's fury after the match did interest us quite a bit though.

* Grr - Ron Harris...YUCK! That's all we have to say on that subject.

* Haha - gay Steiner RULES!!! Arn Anderson is also amazing with the fact that he held his own despite Steiner's submission moves.

* We were very impressed with the styles of Octagon & Too Cold. Both are in line for a spot on the interpromo show.

* HAHA, That Johnny Storm is a brilliant man being able to turn leadership over to someone else in order to play with the minds of Sabin's Usurpers. Shame that New Europe has to disband - maybe some of them will jump ship and join their former leader, Alex Wright over in HKW.
Critic of the DawnPosted on 04/20/05 at 23:40:59

Actually, Lance Storm has been a member of the LIW roster since the first show waaaay back in January of 2005.  And amusingly, he's consistently been at the bottom of the rankings for his entire tenure in LIW.  Just goes to show something about the quality of tag teams in HKW if he can take the titles there.

If Sakata does end up competing against HKW again, I'm sure that he and his tag team partner Masato Tanaka will once again prove why Dangan is the top tag team in North America today.

I must admit to a certain twisted enjoyment of Ernest Miller's lame antics in LIW.  Well, not so much the antics themselves as a sadistic glee that people have to sit through it.  I understand why Wrestlecrap is so prevalent - because it's so satisfying to unleash it upon your hapless viewers and cackle as they squirm!

Orton chose Erik Watts mainly because he is so universally hated in the locker room that nobody else is willing to team up with him.  Watts had a moment of glory, but ever since then he's been all but ignored - clearly this was an attempt to get the attention of the fans again.  And not a very successful one if you ask me.

Bah.  You're just jealous that you couldn't get the Harris Twins over if you tried.

That's NOT Gay Steiner!  Because he's definately NOT gay!  Honest!  I enjoy writing goofy gimmicks like that, although I doubt I'll be topping "Racist" Johnny Ace any time soon.  NOT Gay Steiner and Whiny Goth Vampiro might have potential though.  We'll have to see.

Actually, what happened came as a surprise to me because of the bug I mentioned before the beginning of the post.  Still, Jonny Storm trying to weasel out of the stipulation seemed to be very in character for him.  Unfortunately for New Europe, it didn't work out well.  Oh, and just so you know, Alex Wright was never the leader of New Europe.  He was brought in by Storm to take the Title, and he did just that, running with it for over 220 days until he tried to take it back to Europe with him.

Big win for Snuka and Son.. those early DQ finishes are a pain in the butt, though.

I wonder whether Miller's heel heat is proper heat, or Jeff Hardy-heat. It seems to me that Miller is a little out of place in LIW, but as long as he gets beat up I'm happy.

Randy Orton picks Erik Watts.. I guess that's because neither has any friends. I was hoping for Bob Orton, but one father and son tag-team is probably enough for one show.

A surrealistic pre-match interview between Steiner and Anderson..  I'd never picture Steiner as a comedy wrestler.. more as a tragic wrestler... but hey, 4 stars?? Man, Arn Anderson must be proud of himself. The 4 stars I mean, not losing. That's not cool. Now Big Poppa Steroid has earned a title shot.

Another 4 star match? This one a little more expected, as Scorpio is the top contender! Double AA's title reign may very well be over soon. I doubt he can keep it going as long as Wright did anyway.

Stable vs Stable! Goodie!
Chastain is the first to go? Oh no, the Usurpers have lost their cookie monster. Then Shamrock makes Storm pass out, just as promised! Great action here. And Sabin pulls
the trunks, eliminating El Mephisto... the Usurpers are not beyond cheating I see.

Too bad the Captain's thing didn't work out.. I gather El Mephisto suddenly was the captain? Well, all in all it didn't change anything, as Storm already had been eliminated.

LIW Newsline - 5/16/06

Showdown in Buffalo attracted a huge crowd as fans clambered to see which stable would survive the Showdown.  In the end, despite Jonny Storm's best attempts to cheat fate, New Europe was totally crushed at the hands of The Usurpers.  With a new faction on top of LIW, a new Top Contender, and several other people who deserve title shots, things have just gotten very interesting in LIW!  So be sure to be there on May 20 for our return to Long Island with a show we are calling The Day After.  We certainly hope that some resolution can be achieved.

Before we begin announcing matches, however, we would like to bring you an injury update.  Don Juan, who dislocated his shoulder in his match against The Amazing Red at The Battle of Long Island, has been medically cleared to return to the ring after doctors determined that there were no complications from his injury.  He already has most of his strength back, and is looking forward to competing at The Day After.  "The Ironman" Mark Jindrak has thus far amazed doctors with his recuperative ability.  He spends hours every day rehabbing his slowly recovering neck, working to build up the muscles there and therefore make it less likely that the injury will come back to haunt him in the future.  As a result of his hard work, he may well be back as early as July!

Frankie Kazarian has reportedly been very dissappointed ever since his partner Michael Shane retired from the sport of professional wrestling.  Kazarian has indicated that he intends to continue specializing in tag team wrestling, but without a partner he is extremely limited in what he can achieve.  The booking committee has promised that they will provide a partner for him for a try out match against Lance Storm and Kid Kash.  Kazarian has stated that if he and his new partner can get a win, he will be thrilled to form a permanant tag team with them no matter who they are.  If they are defeated, however, he will keep looking.

New Europe's old manager MsChif, who has recently acquired a new New York State Manager's Liscence with the help of Hard Knox Wrestling, has spent much of the last week picketing the LIW offices in Long Island (by herself), claiming that she was wrongfully terminated.  She has stated that she will not leave until she is given a chance to prove that she belongs in LIW.  After several days of this, she started to smell pretty bad, and we're convinced that she's going to the bathroom in the alleyway behind the building (yuck).  So, in an effort to get her to go away and leave us alone, she has been granted an opportunity to redeem herself.  If she can defeat another women's wrestler of LIW's choice, she will be re-instated as a manager in LIW.  If she fails, she has to go away and take a shower.

Scott Steiner was extremely impressive at Showdown in Buffalo, forcing the New York State Heavyweight Champion to tap out to the Steiner Recliner.  In doing so, he definately earned himself a spot in the next top contender's match.  For now, however, he has attracted the attention of another Submission specialist - Chris Jericho!  Jericho has challenged Steiner to a Submission Match at The Day After, and Steiner has readily accepted, claiming that he will make an example out of Jericho as the next step on his road to the New York State Heavyweight Title.  And said Boomshakalaka... or something like that.  Jericho promptly fired back that Steiner was an Assclown and sang a song about him being gay.  CLEARLY this is a match that can't be missed.

LIW Top Five
Champion: "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson

1) Too Cold Scorpio - Too Cold Scorpio becomes the newest official Top Contender with a victory over Octagon in a fantastic match.  Scorpio represents the International Thug Syndicate, and brings a high flying talent that has seldom been matched to the game.  When he gets his shot against the champion in June, the champ will be in for a hell of a challenge.

2) Frank Shamrock - Frank Shamrock earns a huge victory at Showdown in Buffalo by not only destroying longtime LIW staple New Europe, but by forcing their leader, "The British Sensation" Jonny Storm, to tap out!  Shamrock has a huge amount of momentum on his side, and it seems as if it's just a matter of time until he gets another opportunity to become the Top Contender.

3) "The Monster" Edward Chastain - The largest man in LIW maintains his dominance by tossing around New Europe like ragdolls for thirty minutes before Jonny Storm scored with a lucky DDT and took the big man out.  Chastain has been the key to The Usurpers' strength since they formed, and he maintains his number three spot due to his dominant performance in the Showdown.

4) "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton - Randy Orton busts into the Top 5 after fighting Kevin Nash and Cactus Jack to a standstill, only to suffer a defeat as Erik Watts fell to Cactus Jack.  With a RKO to the former New York State Heavyweight Champion, Orton once again spit in the face of the entire locker locker room.  With a rematch of some sort likely coming, Orton has more than earned his spot through his sheer audacity.

5) "The British Sensation" Jonny Storm - Jonny Storm's world must seem to be crumbling around him.  In the past few months his longtime friend Alex Wright has been forced to leave LIW, his manager MsChif has been fired, and finally his plans for New Europe have been crushed before his eyes.  Storm is barely clinging on to the top five by his fingernails, and he must be about to snap after all the strain he's been under.  His opponents would do well to remember that he's still a very dangerous wrestler, and in the emotional state he's in now, he might be even more deadly!

LIW Newsline - 5/18/06

We are just two days removed from The Day After, and already the hype is building towards what looks to be a very strong show.  The card lineup has been finalized, and believe us when we tell you that on Saturday in Long Island, you are in for a hell of a night of wrestling.  Tickets are on sale online, at ticketmaster, and at the door, so be sure to check it out.

Chris "HAIL" Sabin has impressed a lot of people backstage as of late, and the fact that it was him hitting the Future Shock and pinning El Mephisto which finally buried New Europe once and for all has not been lost on the booking committee.  Therefore, they have decided to bypass standard procedure and signed literally hours ago a match where Chris Sabin of The Usurpers will face off against New York State Heavyweight Champion Arn Anderson - with the title on the line!  Too Cold Scorpio's title shot will come in June.  How does Sabin match up against Anderson?  Find out later in the Newsline!

Randy Orton has officially requested and been granted a rematch of Showdown in Buffalo's tag team match against Cactus Jack and Kevin Nash.  This time, however, he claims that he has located a MUCH more dangerous and influential partner, and that together they will totally dominate Cactus and Nash.  Cactus Jack reportedly welcomes another chance to beat the hell out of Randy Orton, and promises that he will make Orton suffer!  Kevin Nash seemed less focused when we talked to him, but stated that whoever Orton brought up against him would fail just as fan favorite "The Ironman" Mark Jindrak has never been able to defeat him.

Former New York State Tag Team Champion Paul London will be in action as well, but instead of teaming up with Don Juan, he will be in singles action.  DCW has requested that Long Island Wrestling host a Lightweight Title match for them, and therefore Paul London will be putting another promotion's title on the line against none other than Ernest "The Cat" Miller.  Miller has not made any fans since his debut, but since he also works for DCW, DCW management requested that he be given the shot.  If you're a fan of DCW, be sure to catch The Day After, and if you're not perhaps this match will give you a taste of what they have to offer!

As mentioned several days ago in the Top Five, Jonny Storm has been highly emotionally unstable for the past few weeks due to the destruction of the New Europe faction.  El Mephisto and Stevie Knight claim that he has not returned any of their calls, and instead seems to be withdrawing into himself.  Storm contacted the booking committee yesterday and claimed that New Europe's problems all started when "Violent R" Ron Harris tossed former New York State Heavyweight Champion and New Europe member Alex Wright around like a ragdoll.  Though Wright retained his title, he was so battered in that match that he could not hold onto the title long enough to leave LIW with it.  Having fixed Ron Harris in his mind as the start of his troubles, Storm claims that he will "Redeem the Dream" at The Day After by destroying Ron Harris!  A normal match simply won't do, he claims - something far more brutal is required!  Therefore, this match will be a Table Match, and the first man to put his opponent through a table will be victorious!

As promised, here is a detailed look at the New York State Heavyweight Title match scheduled for The Day After:

The Challenger:
Chris "HAIL!" Sabin
5'11" 220 lbs
Signiture Move: Future Shock

The challenge presented by Chris Sabin is very much in the same mold as that presented by Paul London.  Sabin is slightly less experienced than London, but still brings a wealth of speed and technical ability to the match.  Unlike London, however, Sabin works a more grounded style and thus specializes more in the mat wrestling than London does.  Against men like London this can frequently prove to be an advantage, but against a man as experienced and technically gifted as Arn Anderson, Sabin just might be outclassed.  In this match, Sabin will have to count on his youth to pull him through.  Anderson is quite a bit older than Sabin, and accordingly he doesn't have quite the stamina he used to.  If Sabin can keep things moving fairly quickly for a while, Anderson may be less able to defeat his matwork in the long run.

The Champion:
"The Enforcer" Arn Anderson
5'11" 243 lbs
Signiture Move: Spinebuster

Arn Anderson has a small size advantage once again in this match, and brings a great deal of technical and brawling ability to the ring with him.  Some might question whether he has the stamina to compete with Sabin, but Anderson claims that he's in excellent shape.  He's still hurting from Scott Steiner's beating at Showdown in Buffalo, however, so he needs to get this match finished as soon as he can if he hopes to win.  If it goes long, he WILL be vulnerable to submissions and offense targeted at his neck and back, and the Future Shock is just such an offensive move.  Therefore, Anderson needs to immediately wear down Sabin, take him to the mat, and keep him there until he's ready for the Spinebuster.  If Arnderson can control the pace of this match, he has the advantage.  If not, he could be in trouble!

Matches confirmed for The Day After:
* Lance Storm & Kid Kash vs. Frankie Kazarian & A debuting partner
* MsChif vs. A women's wrestler of LIW's choice
If MsChif wins, she will be reinstated as a manager.

* Ernest Miller vs. Paul London for the DCW Lightweight Title
* Chris Jericho vs. Scott Steiner in a Submission Match
* Ron Harris vs. Jonny Storm in a Table Match
