ARGHSJDKSOSERLSDGH! I hate contract time! It always messes with continuity and stuff... SO ANNOYING WHEN...

...

;D

Actually, that hasn't happened yet. You can hear me whinge about that next week. For now, we have the all important final card before Tag Team Turmoil 2005, and I think it went fairly well all things considered. Enjoy.

Edge and Ron Killings defeated Xavier and Alex Wright when Edge pinned A. Wright
after a spear in 0:10:22.
Rating: ** 3/4

Quite a match to start things off with. Though neither team was used to working together, both seemed to click fairly well. Killings and Edge dominated through the early minutes of the match, giving quite a beating to Xavier (and that isn't easy). However, Xavier and Alex Wright turned things around, working together like a veteran team, tagging out quickly while wearing down Edge, clearly the strong link on his team's chain. It looked like it might be over when Wright hit a flying cross body press off the top, but Edge somehow powered out, then in short order laid Wright out with a Spear out of nowhere for the three! The crowd goes wild! What a way to start an evening!

(Following his victory, Edge remains in the ring. One of the men at ringside
passes him a microphone.)

Edge: Now that I got that out of the way... it's time for business. It's time
to talk about why I haven't gotten my title shot yet. It's time to talk about
why nobody in management has even told me when I can expect a shot at the
title. Now, I don't mind waiting a few weeks for my shot. Dinero had to wait
for a couple months. But at least he knew when and where he was going to
fight. He had time to plan, time to get ready. And he used that time to come
up with a plot to steal the title. That's not for me. When I get my shot, I'm
going to win the title fair and square for the third time. That doesn't mean
I won't need to get ready, though. Every damn wrestler on this roster, even
our champion, is too dangerous to underestimate. And it's irresponsible of me
to go into a match without a plan. So come on. I need something to work with
here! The fans want it! You know it'd be a big draw. So make the
announcement already... before I begin to get impatient...

Rating: *** 1/4

Prince Nana's new servant is... Trent Acid! Apparently Acid impressed Nana during his brief stay with NDW so many months ago, to the point that Nana purchased his contract! And, as Legend falls to a Yakuza Kick out of nowhere, it would seem that this was a very wise investment by Nana. Snuka and Legend have been heavily favored to do well at Tag Team Turmoil 2005, but with the likes of Trent Acid on his side, Nana would seem to have an excellent chance as well!

The fastpaced evening continued with an exciting luncha-style bout between two of NDW's noted high fliers, Psicosis and Insane Dragon. This one was back and forth and all over the place, with chairs, tables, and all sorts of other violence, and by the time it was over the crowd had to take a few minutes to catch their breath. The match ended shortly after a powerbomb through the Spanish announce table at ringside by Psicosis. Rolling Insane Dragon back into the ring, he picked up an easy three.

Rating: *** 3/4
[Nunzio interfered against Johnny Ace.]

Billy And Chuck were hoping for a victory here to boost their momentum going into Tag Team Turmoil 2005 next week, and for a long time it looked like they'd get exactly that. They even managed to score with a double powerbomb they call the ChuckaBilly Bomb, but Douglas and Ace worked too well as a team, and the pinfall was broken up. Just minutes later, Shane Douglas scored with the Franchiser, knocking Chuck Palumbo out cold and giving Overpower a hell of a boost going into the tournament next week.

Ron Simmons pinned Doug Basham with the Dominator in 0:16:38.
Rating: *** 1/2

This was a hell of a stiff, brutal brawl between two men who excel at the art. Doug Basham and Ron Simmons went back and forth for over fifteen minutes, but in the end the veteran Simmons was able to take control of the match with his brutal spinebuster, then finish Basham with the Dominator. This victory comes as a direct result of Simmons' recent change in attitude. Ever since he stopped playing to the fans and teamed up with Balls Mahoney, he's been a major force to be reckoned with in NDW. Will his luck hold into Tag Team Turmoil?

Triangle Match:
Slash drew Marcos and New Jack in 0:20:00.
Rating: ** 1/2

Draw. How dissappointing. In past matches such as this, Slash and New Jack have worked together against their common foe, defeating them in short order. Each seemed determined to gain the victory for themselves here tonight, however, to the point that in the final minutes of the match Marcos tagged out while Slash and New Jack battered each other senseless. When the bell rang ending the match, referees had to rush the ring to seperate these two partners... not a good omen, given the importance of next week!

We have chaos here in the arena as the scheduled eight man tag team match between the four top teams in the tournament spills out of the ring and into the aisle. This seems to be every team for itself, with no regard for alliances or friendships! Just like next week, the riot that has broken out here is every tag team for itself!

(While referees try to restore order, we go backstage to Overpower's locker
room. Julio Dinero sits quietly, studying his title as the others laugh as
they witness some of their fiercist competition destroying each other.)

Shane Douglas: Look at those (CENSORED) mother(CENSORED)! They're (CENSORED)
(CENSORED) each other the (CENSORED) up! Talk about a cluster(CENSORED)!

A-Train: I don't think I've ever heard that word said so many times in a single
breath in my life...

(The group laughs)

Ahmed Johnson: AUGH, AUGH DAUGH NAUGH! SHAWGH AUGHWAUGH DAWGH HAUG A BAWGH
PAUGHAUGH MAWGH!

(The group laughs again, with the exception of Johnny Ace.)

Johnny Ace: ...excuse me?

(Sudden silence. They all stare at Ace.)

Shane Douglas: Dude. That's (CENSORED) (CENSORED) up right there.

A-Train: Seriously. Why do you keep messing with Ahmed? He's a good guy, and
an asset to the team.

Ahmed Johnson: AUGH BAUGHCAWGH AUGH BLAWGH, AUGHN AUGH?

Johnny Ace: ...no, seriously. I can't understand a word you're saying. I'm
sorry. Maybe I've been hit in the head a few too many times and my hearing is
bad... or something...

A-Train: What the hell? Your hearing is fine! Why the hell do you keep
messing with Ahmed, man?

Shane Douglas: Seriously dude. Chill the (CENSORED) out. What are you, some
kind of (CENSORED) racist? Because that's (CENSORED) (CENSORED) right there.

Johnny Ace: I'm not a racist! I just can't understand what Ahmed Johnson is
saying!

(Ahmed Johnson looks hurt, then walks away without another word.)

A-Train: Aw, now look what you did! Our match is next! Ahmed, waaaaait!

(A-Train departs after his tag team partner.)

Shane Douglas: I don't believe it. My own mother(CENSORED) partner is a
(CENSORED) racist.

Johnny Ace: I'm telling you, I'm not a racist! Are you trying to say you can
understand him?

(Shane Douglas suddenly looks uncomfortable)

Shane Douglas: ...Yes.

Johnny Ace: Then what the hell did the man say? Can you really tell me that?
Or are you just full of bull-

(Julio Dinero interrupts)

Julio Dinero: Enough! I have to defend my title tonight, guys! I need to
concentrate because no matter what, I *will not* lose to that fatass Nana!
"Oh, look at the new fire in him," they say! "He broke away from the
Undertaker, how bold!" I got news for all of you out there. That ain't fire
in Nana's belly. That's gas. I am the real deal in NDW, the Global
Heavyweight Champion, and if Nana thinks that standing up to a zombie is enough
to take the title from me, then he's never felt the Power of the Dollar!
Because nobody can stop me! Not Bob Sapp, not Edge, not Psicosis, and
certainly not that fatass Nana!

(Douglas and Ace stare at each other as Dinero rants, and seem unsure as to
what to say as we fade out.)

when A-Train pinned Red after the Derailer in 0:05:50.
Rating: 3/4*

Red and Funaki were doing exceedingly well here in this match, until BOOM, Red met A-Train and A-Train came out on top. All it took was A-Train's Derailer, and Red was out like a light. Considering that this match was a preview of an actual first round match next week, Flying Tigers had best work on their game plan if they hope to advance in the tournament!

Danny Basham defeated The Undertaker via pinfall in 0:09:48.
Rating: *** 1/2

Danny Basham upsets The Undertaker here to win a huge high profile victory! Two weeks ago, these two athletes faced each other, and when Danny Basham attempted to outbrawl The Undertaker, he met with predictable results. This week, Basham fought smarter, relying on submission holds right off the bat to wear down his foe. Undertaker, for his part, didn't seem to have his heart in it, and was lacking some of the fire he had as the leader of the Royal Court. Perhaps Nana's success without him is weight on his mind. Regardless, 'Taker managed to kick out of the Brain Damage through pure instinct, but after such a strong blow to the head, all it took was an elbowsmash to finally knock the Prince of Darkness out cold for a pinfall victory.

The winner is Bob Sapp. Time of match: 0:12:39

Bob Sapp pinned Balls Mahoney with the Diving Headbutt in 0:12:39.
Rating: * 1/2

It's rare for Bob Sapp to face a wrestler who he doesn't have a major size advantage over, but in the case of Balls Mahoney, this was exactly what he faced. In Mahoney's credit, the two went at each other from the start, trading stiff powerbombs with neither seeming able to gain an advantage. Then Sapp switched his strategy, and it went downhill for Mahoney. Punch after punch after punch smashed into the face of poor Balls, eventually battering him down long enough for Sapp to finish him off with his devestating Diving Headbutt. Chalk up one more victory to Bob Sapp.

(AMW's music hits, and James Storm and Chris Harris make their way to the
ring.)

James Storm: Ladies and gentlemen, I just have to tell you... I'm incredibly
excited about next week's Tag Team Turmoil 2005. Chris Harris and I have
been teaming for a long time, and ever since we started, we've ruled the tag
team division. With what's at stake in this tournament, you can bet we'll be
coming out on top.

Chris Harris: Ya might wonder what exactly is at stake. Well, besides proving
to the world that you are the official best tag team in NDW today, the winning
team will receive a contract to appear in a major texan wrestling company's
shows.

James Storm: Now if... when we win this thing, it doesn't mean we're going
anywhere. We're not leaving NDW any time soon if we have anything to say
about it. What it is, though, is guaranteed work, and an opportunity to show
yet another part of the country that America's Most Wanted is the hottest team
out there today! So tune in, cos we promise you won't be disappointed!

Chris Harris: And we guarantee a victory!

(Julio Dinero retained the Global Heavyweight Title.)
[Alexis Laree interfered against Nana.]

Dinero once again pulls off a tainted victory, this time evading Nana's devestating Elevated DDT with a kick to the groin. This, along with some interference by Alexis Laree, allowed Dinero to hit his STO, but it wasn't enough! Desperate, Dinero jumped on Nana's back as he started to rise, locking in a cobra clutch. After two matches this evening and taking a stiff STO just moments before, Nana was unable to escape and eventually tapped out to the hold, allowing Dinero to hold onto his title for at least one more week.

As we go off the air for the last time in 2004, Julio Dinero once again celebrates with the Global Heavyweight Title. His methods may not be honest, but they seem to be brutally effective.

Until next time, goodnight.

Match observations:

Match of the Night: Overpower vs. Billy And Chuck

Tag Team Turmoil. A year ago, it was the first major show held by NDW, and Jamie Noble and Sean O'Haire were crowned as the first tag team champions. These two men would go on to rule the tag team division for months to come, feuding with America's Most Wanted and only leaving the title hunt because Jamie Noble left NDW. Whichever team can come out on top will almost certainly experience a similar degree of success, both in NDW and with the Texas promotion that has expressed its interest. It is said that the promoter of that territory will actually be backstage next week, but he has asked that his identity not be revealed. Will he play a factor at all? Tune in to find out.

Here, once again, are the brackets for Tag Team Turmoil 2005 - once again, next week will see all first and second round matches from the tournament.

Team USA
vs.
Ron Simmons & Balls Mahoney

Billy And Chuck
vs.
Hardcore Hell

Flying Tigers
vs.
A-Train & Ahmed Johnson

America's Most Wanted
vs.
The Undertaker & A Partner TBA

The Basham Brothers
vs.
The Future

Best of the Best
vs.
Johnny Ace & Shane Douglas

Ron Killings & Psicosis
vs.
Legend & Jimmy Snuka

Prince Nana & Trent Acid
vs.
Project Wunderkind

In addition to all of this, Julio Dinero will square off against Bob Sapp in a non-title rematch of the main event of The Big One. Sapp is definately looking for revenge, but Dinero has proven himself to be an extremely effective cheater.

Who will win? And who will advance in the tournament? Tune in to find out!

Ha ha.  Johnny Ace rules.  That interview was golden.  The highlight of a good card.

:D poor little Ahmed... Johnny Ace is such a bastard sometimes... ;)

It's funny, every time Ahmed says something I picture him sounding exactly like Strong Mad from homestarrunner.com.
Rick GarrardPosted on 09/25/04 at 16:20:17

It's either Chuck and Billy or Simmons and Balls that will walk out the winners of Turmoil.  :)  At least that's my prediction on the swervability of TNM for this one.

And yes Aughmed Jughson.. quite the talker in NDW.  Johnny Ace is so gonna get he and Shane in trouble with Ahmed and ATrain ... should be quite a fight if it ever happens.  I just hope that going into next week, we don't lose Dinero, as his title reign is very old school cowardly heelish right now.  And it's very effective because when he does finally lose the title, it is going to be a BIG moment in NDW history.

Hah!  I never thought I'd see the day when Ahmed Johnson was getting such a wonderful reaction from people on the internet.  Thanks a bunch.  I really get a kick out of writing those scenes, and I think I've still got quite a bit of mileage in the whole thing.  It's definately NDW's funniest running gag, in my opinion.

I'm not sure who'll win the tournament, obviously, but that's because I haven't run it yet.  I've got a feeling it might be Undertaker and his partner, though.  Just feels right to me...

As for Contract renewals and the like... there were 5 wrestlers (6 if you count Sgt. Slaughter) who declined to renew their contracts.  I won't say which ones yet, but they cover a wide cross section of the card and include at least one highly placed wrestler.  You'll see which ones it was soon enough.

In case I hadn't made this clear beforehand, you've found a way to make Ahmed Johnson entertaining. That by default makes you smarter than Stephen Hawkings and Kevin Costner put together.
