Interview:
Paul Heyman welcomes the crowd to the return of ECW where it all started in the ECW Arena in Philadelphia. It's been a long journey but ECW is finally back thanks not to Vince McMahon or himself but due to all the rabid and loyal ECW fans who wouldn't let the promotion go away quietly. Because of the fans, once again ECW will revolutionize and revitalize the sport of professional wrestling just like it did back in the 1990s. Paul Heyman continues by mentioning that while ECW was put on the map because of its unorthodox style of hardcore wrestling, this ECW will also feature some of the best technical wrestlers in the world today. The biggest example of ECW's commitment to technical wrestling was the signing of "The Wrestling Machine" Kurt Angle. The fans cheer the signing and start an "Angle" chant. Tonight, the ECW Arena will get to see Kurt Angle wrestling his first match in ECW as he and 19 other extremists will try to become the ECW World Champion! There will be two, ten man battle royals. The winner of each battle royal will square off next week in a match to determine the first ECW World Champion of the relaunched promotion.

Melina, Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury, collectively known as MNM, are standing backstage. Melina talks about how her men have been signed to ECW to be the cornerstone of the tag team division. They are too good for a vile place like ECW. Instead of wrestling neanderthals like Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney, they should be out in Hollywood partying with the likes of Kevin Federline and Paris Hilton. Melina admits that MNM has no idea who their opponents are tonight. It doesn't worry Melina because MNM are former WWE Tag Team Champions and they are the class of ECW.

10-Man Battle Royal:
Kurt Angle won a 10-man Battle Royal:
        x S. Richards threw out B. Mahoney in 0:00:05
x L. Storm threw out Sabu in 0:01:54
        x S. Richards threw out L. Storm in 0:03:06
x Snow threw out C. Haas in 0:05:01
x K. Angle threw out Vampiro after a side headlock in 0:06:26
x Swinger threw out S. Richards in 0:12:56
x Swinger threw out Snow in 0:14:40
x Swinger threw out Anderson in 0:14:43
x K. Angle threw out Swinger in 0:18:59
Rating: ** 1/4

Johnny Swinger looked very impressive in this battle royal, eliminating three other participants and lasted until the end where he had to face "The Wrestling Machine" Kurt Angle. Johnny Swinger gave Kurt Angle a decent challenge to keep the outcome of this match in question. However, The Wrestling Machine was too much for Johnny Swinger and would be eliminated when Kurt Angle ducked a superkick attempt and countered with a clothesline, knocking Swinger over the top rope. The fans cheered Kurt Angle, who can now rest and watch the next battle royal to see who he will be wrestling in next week's ECW World Title Match.

Interview:
An unknown blonde woman, beautiful for sure, but maybe out of place in ECW, identifies herself as Kelly Kelly. More importantly, she divulges that she's an exhibitionist, which means she likes to take her clothes off in public. Not only that but Kelly Kelly admits that she has a crush on an ECW wrestler she has admired for quite some time. Kelly Kelly tells us that she is coming to ECW very soon and that not only will she show it all when she does but that she will also finally get to meet her crush.

The Eliminators (John Kronus and Perry Saturn) defeated MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro) when Saturn pinned Mercury after the Total Elimanation in 0:00:28.
Rating: *

MNM made their ECW debut by doing their usual entrance which seemed very out of place. It certainly didn't make them crowd favorites. The first ECW match for MNM was one to forget. They were taken totally surprise in this one as The Eliminators made their shocking return to Extreme Championship Wrestling. As MNM was in the ring awaiting their mystery opponents, Perry Saturn and John Kronus jumped over the guard railing and entered the ring. Perry Saturn hit a superkick on Johnny Nitro from behind. When Joey Mercury turned around, it was too late to do much of anything as The Eliminators hit Total Elimination to get the three count.

Interview:
A video is shown hyping the debut of "The Prince of Punk" Shannon Moore to ECW.

10-Man Battle Royal:
Rob Van Dam won a 10-man Battle Royal:
x RVD threw out Tajiri in 0:01:36
x Sandman threw out Kash in 0:03:29
x RVD threw out Credible in 0:03:38
        x A. Rotten threw out S. Benjamin in 0:03:41
x Little Guido threw out Crazy after a snap mare in 0:04:04
x RVD threw out Little Guido in 0:07:33
x A. Rotten threw out Sandman in 0:11:31
x Dreamer threw out A. Rotten after a swinging neckbreaker in 0:13:35
x RVD threw out Dreamer after a legsweep in 0:18:07
Rating: ***
[Bill Alfonso interfered against Little Guido.]

Rob Van Dam proved to be the star of this battle royal as he eliminated four other participants. The battle royal and a chance to face Kurt Angle in next week's main event match for the ECW World Title came down to Rob Van Dam and Tommy Dreamer. Before the action started again, Rob Van Dam and Tommy Dreamer shook hands and wished each other luck. Rob Van Dam countered out of a Dreamer DDT and spin kicked Tommy Dreamer over the top rope to win the battle royal. What an incredible, hard fought victory this was for Rob Van Dam. It cannot be said that Kurt Angle and Rob Van Dam did not earn their spots in next week's main event for the ECW World Title.

After Rob Van Dam is declared the winner, Kurt Angle walks up on the stage and is shown smiling and clapping his hands. Rob Van Dam stares Kurt Angle down from the ring, his opponent in next week's ECW World Title Match.

Cool first card, Angle/Van Dam should be cool.  Definitely a clash of styles.  No matter what people think/thought of The Eliminators they had one of the coolest finishers of all-time.  Totally badass.

Should be a fun circuit, looking forward to reading more.

;D

Nah, it's cool. Due to Benoit, my interest in my ECW fed is pretty much nilch at the moment. That's why I'm working on launching a Lucha fed.

It's not really since I've been going back and forth about running an ECW promotion since last July (check the Smackdown! vs. ECW folder). It's basically a mix of that ECW and a circuit I posted on here briefly called WRX. With ECW only having a one hour timeslot, it shouldn't be too hard.

Looking forward to the lucha circuit though. I also don't think Benoit should affect your enjoyment of ECW or wrestling in general.
