ECW Hardcore TV - June 13, 2006
HugeRockStar760 | Posted on 05/22/06 at 06:46:35 ECW Hardcore TV Date: June 13, 2006 Location: Trenton, NJ Interview: Joey Styles welcomes everyone to the return of ECW Hardcore TV. He announces that he will be interviewing the new ECW World Heavyweight Champion, Rob Van Dam, in the ring. However, instead of Rob Van Dam, Rhino storms the ring and confronts Joey Styles. Rhino tells Joey Styles that if he wants to talk to the real World Heavyweight Champion of ECW, he better talk to him! Rhino talks about how when ECW folded as a promotion, the reigning ECW World Heavyweight Champion and World Television Champion was him! No one ever defeated Rhino for either championship. Rhino says that Rob Van Dam can defeat John Cena and throw down the WWE Championship and have Paul Heyman declare him the new ECW World Heavyweight Champion all he wants. All it proves is that Rob Van Dam is a paper champion. If Rob Van Dam wants to legitimize his ECW World Heavyweight Championship, he will have to defeat Rhino and he doesn't think that will happen in ECW. The reigning ECW World Heavyweight Champion, as recognized by Paul Heyman, Rob Van Dam, makes his way to the ring to confront Rhino. Rob Van Dam acknowledges that Rhino was the last ECW World Heavyweight Champion. However, Rob Van Dam poises the question about if there is any coincidence to Rhino being World Heavyweight Champion and World Television Champion and ECW folding? Rob Van Dam also reminds Rhino that no one defeated him for the World Television Title as he had to vacate it due to an injury. He was the longest reigning World Television Champion in ECW and he definitely doesn't believe Rhino could've taken the belt away from him either. Rhino tells Rob Van Dam that ECW couldn't provide him any competition for either belt so that is why the promotion folded. It's not his fault that Paul Heyman could do nothing but write bouncing checks. As for Rhino not being able to defeat Rob Van Dam for the World Television Title? Rhino tells Rob Van Dam that the best way to settle their dispute is to wrestle tonight for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship! Before Rob Van Dam can answer Rhino's challenge, Paul Heyman walks to the ring looking irritated. Paul Heyman says that the last thing Rhino will get is a World Heavyweight Title match. Paul Heyman informs Rhino that this isn't Universal Studios, and there is no six sided ring in ECW. If Rhino wants to prove himself as a worthy contender for Rob Van Dam's World Heavyweight Title, he's going to earn it. In fact, Rhino can even win back the ECW World Television Title tonight. Paul Heyman says that Rhino will compete in a gauntlet series of matches. There will be three matches and if Rhino can win all three matches he will be declared not only the ECW World Television Champion, but he will be declared the number one contender for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. However, Rhino will have no idea which wrestlers he will be facing. The first match starts now! [ECW World Television Title Gauntlet - Match 1]: Rhino pinned Mikey Whipwreck with the Gore in 0:00:36. Rating: * The first match in Rhino's gauntlet to reclaiming the World Television Title was against Mikey Whipwreck. The former ECW World Heavyweight Champion, Mikey Whipwreck, looked less than enthused to be wrestling someone like Rhino, who wasn't exactly in the best of moods. Luckily for him, this match did not take long and he was not subjected to much punishment from Rhino. It appeared Rhino wanted to waste as little energy as possible going into this gauntlet series of matches as he is determined to become the ECW World Television Champion. Rhino whipped Mikey Whipwreck into the ropes and charged into him with the Gore for the three count. Interview: Paul Heyman takes the time to personally thank each and every one of the loyal ECW fans that stayed true to the company and had faith in its return. He thanks all those who are watching an ECW show for the first time, as well as everyone that watched One Night Stand the past two years and those who bought the ECW DVDs. They are the ones that kept the ECW spirit going. Paul Heyman then goes on to say that ECW has many critics in the wrestling industry that didn't want to see the company back on television. While they may be on the Sci-Fi Channel, Paul Heyman says that he is proud to be associated with the network. Unlike TNN and Spike TV, The Sci-Fi Channel is firmly behind the ECW product and concept and will be a partner in the growth of the promotion. Paul Heyman concludes by criticizing The Dudley Boyz for their negative comments against ECW recently. Paul Heyman says that they would be welcomed back into ECW anytime, as well as any ECW alumni. However, Paul Heyman makes it clear that ECW does not need the Dudley Boyz, Raven, or any other wrestling talent if they are going to be critical of the promotion that made them into stars, who put them into a position to make a lot of money with the WWE and WCW. Either they come back to ECW or they can continue to wrestle in six sided rings while ECW will move on to create new stars. [ECW World Television Title Gauntlet - Match 2]: Rhino pinned Al Snow with the Gore in 0:11:36. Rating: *** 1/4 The gauntlet increased in difficulty as Rhino next had to face Al Snow. Both had a lot on the outcome of this match as Rhino had the opportunity to go on to face the third wrestler in the gauntlet while Al Snow, if he won, also had the same opportunity as Rhino to go on to wrestle for the ECW World Television Championship. This match featured many weapons like barbed wire, chairs, and even a ladder. The ladder, in particular, would play a role in the outcome of the match. Al Snow attempted to power bomb Rhino, but Rhino countered out of it and whipped him into the ladder that was laying against one of the turnbuckles. Rhino immediately charged into Al Snow against the ladder. Rhino went for the pin and got the three count. With the victory, Rhino advances to the main event and the third and final gauntlet match where the ECW World Television Title will be on the line. Interview: Tommy Dreamer talks about how happy he is to see ECW back in business. At One Night Stand, Tommy Dreamer was also happy to team with his mentor Terry Funk and even happier to see him make Edge, that hardcore wannabe wrestler, submit to the Spinning Toe Hold. As for Cactus Jack or Mick Foley, whichever persona he goes by, Tommy Dreamer says that nothing has been resolved between them. Tommy Dreamer talks about brawling with Mick Foley through the crowd and he could see firsthand that Mick Foley still had that hardcore gleam in his eye. Tommy Dreamer know that while Mick Foley might be on his anti-hardcore, anti-ECW crusade right now, there is still some of that hardcore icon, Cactus Jack that loved ECW that just wants to come through again. With that said, Tommy Dreamer throws out an open invitation to Mick Foley for a match. Beulah walks up to Tommy Dreamer, looks him over and makes out with him. Before leaving with Beulah, Tommy Dreamer smiles and says that he's hardcore and she loves it! The Impact Players, Lance Storm and Justin Credible, are with their manager Francine. Neither Lance Storm or Justin Credible are happy that The Eliminators made their return to professional wrestling by costing them the match against the BWO. Justin Credible says that the fans better enjoy the return of The Eliminators at One Night Stand because if Perry Saturn or John Kronus decide to show up to an ECW event again, The Impact Players will make sure to make The Eliminators return to ECW a "one night stand." The camera shows The Sandman backstage smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer. The Sandman notices the camera and spits out the beer in the cameraman's direction. The Sandman laughs and says that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Lance Storm mentions to Justin Credible that Perry Saturn had been out injured with a serious neck injury. Lance Storm thinks Justin Credible should make good use of his piledriver finisher on Perry Saturn. Justin Credible tells Lance Storm that That's Incredible. Francine doesn't remark about The Eliminators, but instead takes the opportunity to insult Beulah and call her a slut. Justin Credible laughs and says his catchphrase about "that not just being the coolest, that's not just the best, that my friends is Justin Credible." While Lance Storm managed to get the line in about Calgary...Alberta...Canada. Joey Styles announces that next week will be a rematch from ECW One Night Stand II as Masato Tanaka takes on Sabu! Also, Paul Heyman promises to announce his decision on how new ECW World Tag Team Champions will be decided. [ECW World Television Title Gauntlet - Match 3]: Match for the vacant ECW World Television Title: Rhino pinned The Sandman with the Gore in 0:19:05. Rating: *** 1/2 (Rhino won the ECW World Television Title.) If Rhino wanted to become the ECW World Television Champion and with it, the top contender to Rob Van Dam's ECW World Heavyweight Title, he would have to beat the hardcore icon, The Sandman! The feud these two had in ECW in the late 90's is well documented. In fact, it was Rhino who took the ECW World Heavyweight Title from The Sandman after he had just won a three way dance earlier in the ECW Guilty as Charged pay per view. The advantage in this match had to start out with The Sandman considering he was well rested while Rhino had just wrestled two matches, with the last one being highly competitive with Al Snow. This was another highly competitive match that is ECW is known for. It appeared that The Sandman had this match won and was going to become the new ECW World Television Champion. Rhino attempted to the Gore on The Sandman, who was in the corner of the turnbuckle laying against a table. However, before Rhino could hit the Gore, The Sandman moved out of the way, which caused Rhino to hit and break the table! The Sandman went to the outside of the ring and grabbed a trash can and brought it back into the ring with him. He picked Rhino up and executed a DDT onto the trash can! The Sandman went for the cover, but from out of the crowd came none other than C.M. Punk with a steel chair. He entered the ring and broke the pin up with a chairshot to the back. When The Sandman got back up, he was promptly met with a chairshot to the face. C.M. Punk picked The Sandman up and set him up for a move he calls the Pepsi Plunge, a top rope Pedigree style maneuver. C.M. Punk executed the move on The Sandman onto the folded steel chair on the mat. The Sandman was obviously out cold from this surprise attack from C.M. Punk. The crowd was livid with Punk and he merely made an X motion with his arms before leaving the ring. Rhino got back up to his feet, but he was obviously unaware of the outside interference from C.M. Punk because he picked The Sandman up and laid him against one of the turnbuckles. Rhino went for the Gore and went for the cover to get the three count. Rhino is the new ECW World Television Champion and he has earned the right to be the number one contender to Rob Van Dam's ECW World Heavyweight Championship. As the show came to a close, Rhino stood in the ring holding his ECW World Television Title while the ECW World Heavyweight Champion Rob Van Dam walked out to the ramp with his manager Bill Alphonso to stare Rhino down. americamamushi | Posted on 05/23/06 at 03:58:39 CM Punk in the new ECW. You've officially hooked me. |
rey619 | Posted on 05/23/06 at 08:45:19 Me too... I actually haven't marked out like this in a TNM circuit for like... ever.. I mean.. Sandman vs Punk makes so much sense it hurts to think about it. I also dig the fact that you try to adjust the shows to 1 hour slots. There are too many who doesn't pay attention to timing around here, creating tv-shows that last for hours (and who can forget Superstar JimiC's Puro show that lasted for well over 7 hours). I also like the fact that you bring up points and storylines that took place in the old ECW. I never paid much attention to ECW back then, so it's nice for an ECW noob like me. Much, much better than your Smackdown work.. can't wait till the next installment. |

That interview segment near the end was supposed to be similar to those Pulp Fiction segments on the old ECW shows. As close as I can get using a summary style. And thanks for the comments about Sandman/C.M. Punk. That's exactly why I brought CM Punk in against Sandman. His straight-edge lifestyle is such a different one compared to The Sandman. I could even use the Raven/CM Punk feud from the indys as a throwback to the issues The Sandman had with Raven in the 90's. It does make the most logical sense. I wonder how close One Night Stand will be to what I booked? Rhino is definitely a wild card as I am hoping his contract is bought out or some kind of deal can be worked out for him to appear. SuperStar Jimi C is the King of Extreme, the Commish of Extreme, capish, or something. ECW never had that many hardcore matches. ECW was so much more than hardcore wrestling too, something he never grasped. What I definitely need to do is study up on C.M. Punk. I've seen a few matches and I've seen a few promos from OVW and I can tell you I'm a fan of his mic skills and his ring skills aren't shabby either. Heyman and Dreamer will have so much fun booking his character. This will definitely be their Raven to an extent. |
