[King of the Ring Opening Round Match]:
Booker T pinned Rey Mysterio after a roll up in 0:14:21.
Rating: *** 1/2

Chavo Guerrero watched this match from the announcers table to cheer his good
friend Rey Mysterio on. Apparently, Chavo Guerrero does not blame Rey Mysterio
for his loss against Randy Orton last week and actually appreciated the attempt
by Mysterio to help out. Last week, Booker T all but guaranteed to be the King
of the Ring winner but received a spear from Bobby Lashley who thought
otherwise. However, if Booker T could not defeat Rey Mysterio, all his talk
would be for nothing and all he would have to show for the King of the Ring
would be a spear from Bobby Lashley.

Booker T had plenty of help from his wife Sharmell in this match. However, Rey
Mysterio still had the opportunity to win and advance in the tournament. After
Booker T had just hit the Book End on Rey Mysterio, he decided to do the
Spinaroonie instead of going for the pin. When Booker T attempted the Scissors
Kick, Rey Mysterio avoided it and dropkicked Booker T into the ropes. Rey
Mysterio followed that with the 619. Rey Mysterio went for the pin but it only
got a near pinfall. Sharmell immediately got up on the ring apron to distract
the referee. Rey Mysterio went over to argue with Sharmell and she slapped him
hard across the face. Rey Mysterio grabbed Sharmell and threaten to punch her.
Rey Mysterio was totally caught by surprise as from behind Booker T rolled Rey
Mysterio up and got the pinfall victory!

After the match, Rey Mysterio looked very disappointed at the result of the
match. Interesting note, Chavo Guerrero did not go to help Rey Mysterio in his
match. Chavo Guerrero entered the ring and picked a dejected Rey Mysterio up
and offered him some words of encouragement, pointed up to the sky and the two
left to "EDDIE" chants from the crowd.

Interview:
Josh Matthews interviews Jamie Noble and Kid Kash before their match against
Funaki and Scotty 2 Hotty. He asks the two if they are going to apologize for
their remarks against The Mexicools last week. Noble and Kash laugh at Matthews
and tell him they won't apologize for their comments because they aren't saying
anything most Americans are thinking about illegal immigrants. Josh Matthews
interupts and says that Psicosis and Super Crazy are not illegal immigrants but
Jamie Noble interupts him by saying that Josh Matthews has been brainwashed by
the "liberal media". Kid Kash says that ever since they beatdown The Mexicools
a few weeks ago, Psicosis and Super Crazy have not been heard or seen since.
Kid Kash thinks that they were sent packing back to Mexico.

JBL walks up to the interview area and shakes their hands. JBL tells them that
indeed they have nothing to apologize about and they are Great Americans. In
fact, Kid Kash and Jamie Noble would make a fine addition to JBL's
Administration. He tells them to watch his United States Heavyweight
championship cage match against Chris Benoit, another border hopper, and after
the match he will discuss a possible role for them in his new Administration.

Jamie Noble and Kid Kash defeated Funaki and Scotty 2 Hotty when J. Noble
defeated Scotty by disqualification in 0:06:42.
Rating: ** 1/4
[Psicosis interfered against Jamie Noble.]

Jamie Noble and Kid Kash wondered where The Mexicools were after they attacked
them backstage two weeks ago. They didn't have to wonder for too much longer as
The Mexicools ran down to the ring and attacked Jamie Noble and Kid Kash. This
caused the disqualification, but the two teams continued to brawl anyways. The
Mexicools wanted to take more of their anger out on them, but Kid Kash and
Jamie Noble were able to leave the ring and away from them.

Brian Kendrick pinned Carlito in 0:10:46.
Rating: *** 1/4

This was Carlito's first singles match on Smackdown! since last year when he
was apart of the draft lottery that sent him to RAW. Carlito didn't seem to
take Brian Kendrick seriously. In fact, Carlito was so confident, he told Chris
Masters to stay in the lockerroom because he didn't need help to defeat Brian
Kendrick. Brian Kendrick took advantage of the lack of respect to give Carlito
a serious challenge that he was not expecting. However, Carlito was able to
take the momentum back when Brian Kendrick missed with a Sliced Bread #2 and
knocked into the referee. Carlito followed with a reverse neckbreaker to Brian
Kendrick. Carlito went for the pin, but the refere was down on the mat.

This brought out Paul London who charged into the ring and dropkicked Carlito.
Paul London followed that with a backbreaker. Then, Paul London went to the top
turnbuckle and executed the Calling London Shooting Star Press to Carlito. Paul
London put Brian Kendrick on top of Carlito and shook the referee until he was
able to wake up from being knocked down earlier. Paul London left the ring and
watched as the referee made the three count. Chris Masters ran down to the
ring, but Brian Kendrick and Paul London managed to avoid him as they ran past
him. The Hooliganz are able to get one up on Pretty Cool on Smackdown!

Interview:
Randy Orton and Kurt Angle, surprisingly, both storm into Teddy Long's office
together. They both demand to know what Teddy Long is thinking in teaming the
two of them together in a tag team title match against the champions MNM. Teddy
Long seems shocked that anyone would complain about receiving a tag team title
shot. Teddy Long says that he is going to make sure that the tag team division
remains competitive, and he thinks Kurt Angle and Randy Orton could provide MNM
with a challenge for those belts.

Randy Orton tells Teddy Long that he refuses to team with Kurt Angle because at
WWE MAYhem, the only belt he will be winning is Kurt Angle's World Heavyweight
Championship. Teddy Long warns Randy Orton against not showing up for this
match or interfering against his tag team partner Kurt Angle. There are many
reasons for this. One, Teddy Long will suspend Randy Orton. Two, Teddy Long
will strip Randy Orton of his title shot against Kurt Angle at WWE MAYhem.
Three, as Kurt Angle almost did last week, he'll break his ankle. Kurt Angle
snaps his fingers and starts laughing with Teddy Long. Randy Orton slowly backs
away but before leaving the office tells Kurt Angle that he better bring his A
game tonight because if they don't win the titles tonight it won't be Randy
Orton's fault.

Cage Match:
John Bradshaw Layfield defeated Chris Benoit by escaping the cage in 0:21:33.
Rating: **** 3/4
(John Bradshaw Layfield retained the United States Heavyweight Title.)

Chris Benoit decided to use his rematch clause against JBL for the United States
Heavyweight Championship in the confines of a 15 foot high steel cage! This kind
of match would prevent any outside interference from Mr. Kennedy. Or so we
thought. This was a hard hitting match that was well suited for these two
wrestlers. Chris Benoit definitely looked like he was going to regain the United
States Heavyweight Championship. He had the advantage in this match throughout
and a bloody JBL even was begging Chris Benoit at point, but he would have none
of it. Chris Benoit was able to hit the Rolling Germans when JBL went for a
clothesline. Chris Benoit got all three Rolling Germans and JBL laying on the
mat.

At this point, Chris Benoit could've escape the cage through the door but
instead of leaving the cage, he pointed to the top turnbuckle. Chris Benoit
climbed to the top turnbuckle but before he could land the flying headbutt, Mr.
Kennedy got out from the bottom of the ring and jumped on top of the ring apron
and knocked a surprised Chris Benoit down hard to the mat. JBL got back up to
his feet and awaited for Chris Benoit to stagger back up. When Chris Benoit
managed to get back up, he was hit with the Clothesline from Hell from JBL.
Instead of going for the pin, JBL decided to escape the cage to get the win and
retain his United States Heavyweight Championship.

After the match, JBL re-entered the ring with a steel chair and locked the cage
door. Mr. Kennedy and JBL started to beatdown on Chris Benoit. When Chris Benoit
got back up to his feet, JBL slammed the chair to Chris Benoit's head. JBL
motioned to Mr. Kennedy and he smiled in response. Mr. Kennedy picked Chris
Benoit up and took him up to the top turnbuckle. Mr. Kennedy hit the Green Bay
Plunge on Chris Benoit onto the steel chair! Mr. Kennedy and JBL unlocked the
cage and left Chris Benoit laying on the mat.

The Great Khali pinned Jimmy Jacobs with the Giant Choke Slam in 0:01:25.
Rating: 1/4*

The Great Khali continued to look impressive in another easy victory. With The
Undertaker traded to RAW, is there anyone on Smackdown! that can stop The Great
Khali?

Paul Burchill and Bobby Lashley defeated William Regal and Finlay when Lashley
pinned W. Regal with the Dominator in 0:08:31.
Rating: ** 3/4

The London crowd received a surprise when William Regal and Finlay decided to
team up to face their rivals Bobby Lashley and Paul Burchill. William Regal and
Finlay had a rivalry back in World Championship Wrestling, but it appears they
have put aside their differences in wrestling and their heritages to combat
their current rivals. Usually, the London crowd would cheer William Regal, but
since he aligned himself with Finlay tonight, they booed him!

They worked well as a team and their gameplan of isolating Burchill from Bobby
Lashley worked, but only for awhile until Burchill was able to slide out of
Finlay's Tombstone Piledriver attempt and made the tag to Bobby Lashley. Bobby
Lashley entered the ring and proceeded to clear the ring of William Regal and
Finlay. William Regal and Finlay argued on the outside of the ring and a
frustrated Finlay hit Regal with the Shalalee from behind and threw him back
into the ring where Bobby Lashley was awaiting. Bobby Lashley picked William
Regal up and hit the Dominator for the three count. So much for that tenuous
alliance between William Regal and Finlay.

MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro) defeated Randy Orton and Kurt Angle when
Nitro pinned K. Angle in 0:19:26.
Rating: ****
(MNM retained the World Tag Team Titles.)
[Melina interfered against Kurt Angle.]

Surprisingly, Kurt Angle and Randy Orton worked well as a team in this match
against MNM. Of course, they didn't have much of a choice as Teddy Long warned
against not being a cooperative tag team partner. It looked as if Kurt Angle and
Randy Orton were going to become the World Tag Team Champions. Kurt Angle hit
the Angle Slam on Johnny Nitro and Randy Orton entered the ring and clotheslined
Joey Mercury out of the ring and away from a possible pin breakup. Kurt Angle
went for the pin, but Randy Orton decided to break it up! Randy Orton executed
the RKO on Kurt Angle and put Johnny Nitro on top of Kurt Angle for the pin and
left the ring with a smug look on his face. The confused referee made the three
count, giving MNM the victory.

The show ended with Randy Orton arrogantly posing on the Smackdown! stage. Randy
Orton did not listen to Teddy Long's demands about being a cooperative tag team
partner. Will Teddy Long follow through with suspending Randy Orton next week?

Hmm.. not too happy with Rey losing, but hopefully something good will come out of the angle involving Chavo.

I like the Noble/Kash vs Mexicools feud, because you're using topical issues like immigration. Makes it easy for the fans to appreciate.

Carlito is knocked down a peg by Kendrick.. seems that both you and the WWE creative feels he is ready for a push.. the Brian Kendrick on my Smackdown must be really jealous of other Brian Kendrick's  :P

Hoss vs Huss as Khali squashes Jacobs.. again, I'm excited to see who you pick as Khali's first feud. Lashley?

The England crowd has obviously a new fan favorite now in Burchill as the traitorous Regal sided with the Irish guy... ouch.. the shillelagh is a dreaded weapon, and Regal felt it firsthand.

Randy Orton seems to get himself into trouble no matter where he is... I'm definetely looking forward to what Long will do about this.
