Ring of Honor's Final Battle

SporadicoPosted on 12/14/06 at 00:48:18

(OPENING MATCH):
Team SAT (Joel Maximo and Jose Maximo) defeated
Los Ice Creams (El Hijo del Ice Cream and Ice Cream Jr.) when Joel pinned
Ice Cream Jr. with the Maximo Explosion
(0:11:06 ; ** 3/4)

-This one was a strong opening match. Lots of pops tonight for the
Ice Creams. Pretty fast paced back and fourth battle with Team SAT
dominating near the end. Once El Hijo pulled out the bag of sprinkles,
Ice Cream Jr. got hit with the Maximo Explosion and was down and out
for the 3-Count.
=============================

(OPEN CHALLENGE):
Masahiro Chono made Doug Williams submit to the STF
(0:14:15 ; **** 1/4)

-Masahiro Chono came out and issued an open challenge to anyone
in the building to face him (one of the fans ACTUALLY tried
to jump over the barricade and face him, luckily security pulled
him out and escorted him out of the place). The challenge was
answered as soon as "Song 2" by Blur was blaired over the speakers,
which got a huge pop. The match was stiff as HELL, and definatly
was not a letdown. Chono slapped Williams in the STF to win the match.
=============================

(WINNER WINS THE MATCH):
Nick Dinsmore pinned Matt Cappotelli with the German Suplex.
(0:09:15 ***)

- lol, yeah I really didn't have a special match name for this fight.
Whoever won, won. Dinsmore hit a cheap shot with a chair early on in
the match, which got a huge pop from the crowd because we knew that
Matt Cappotelli had a brain tumor less than a year ago. The match
ended quickly short after, with Dinsmore and a rushed finish. Cappotelli
seemed to be in pain... legit pain.
=============================

(RoH Tag Title Match):
The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) defeated
Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli) when J. Briscoe pinned
Castagnoli after a side suplex
(0:19:45 ; ****)
(The Briscoe Brothers retained the RoH Tag Team Titles.)

-Holy cow. This was a really intense match, especially with what happend
at the end of the match (which really broke my heart). The Briscoe Brothers
showed the KoW what the definition of "tag team" was because they tagged at
least 10 times. They double teamed on the KoW like no other, and in time
they worked them down to the core. Claudio was in the ring for about
7 minutes or so, and was desperatly urging for a tag. he dove to the corner,
and Hero moved his hand out of the way and stepped off the apron! He went
on to the announcer and took a microphone and demanded it be turned on.
"I brought you in... I brought you to America. I brought you to a life
of fame. You came from the shit hole of a country, Switzerland, to here and teamed
with me and I brought you to the top! We were named the Kings of Wrestling
becuase there was not a god-damned tag team that could beat us in the world!
We've beaten the best, we've ruled the worst. From Generation Next... all the
way to the way to Quack and Reckless Youth. As of late... we've been
fuckin' up."(Keep in mind that Claudio is still trying to fight
off the Briscoe's 1v2...) "We lost the CHIKARA Tag Team Titles... because
of you. We lost the CZW Tag Team Titles... because of you. And we lost
the RoH Tag Team Titles... because of you. You see, the problem here is
you've gotten to cocky. You've been worrying to much about yourself. You've forgotten
that the only reason why you are such a success here in the states is because
I brought you to work with me as a team-mate. And you have done nothing
to help me for the past 3 damn months! I'm sick of it, I'm sick of you,
and I'm sick of losing. Claudio..." (Hero walks into the ring and the
Briscoe's move to the corners of the ring.) "Claudio... we're done.
We're through. You and me, are finished." (Hero got a big boot on Claudio,
knocking him out.) "The Kings of Wrestling are as dead as the fans after
one of your singles matches buddy." Hero then threw the microphone, which
landed on Claudio's head, and Jay nailed a sweet side suplex to make
sure he would get the 3. After the match, Claudio was in tears walking away
from the ring.

(3-Way Elimination Match for the RoH Pure Title):
Jimmy Rave defeated Nigel McGuinness and Christopher Daniels:
x C. Daniels beat N. McGuinness via a backslide in 0:12:41
x J. Rave beat C. Daniels via
a spinning headscissors into a cross-face submission
(0:19:17 ; *** 3/4)
(Jimmy Rave won the RoH Pure Title.)

-I definatly did not expect the finish I saw here. I was expecting
Daniels to go over big... and I thought that was guaranteed when he
was left alone w/ Rave. But boy... was I wrong. McGuinness was eliminated
after his ricochet clothesline was reversed into a backslide to make
this a 1v1 bout. Rave stepped into the ring fresh as day and clocked
the hell outta Daniels with a spinning heel kick. This finish came out
of nowhere... and was really my favorite finish of the night. He
got the spinning headscissors... and then locked on a crossface submission
in the MIDDLE OF THE RING... and with nowhere for Christopher Daniels to
go... he had to tap.

(Ring of Honor World Title Match):
Bryan Danielson made Homicide submit to the Cattle Mutilation in 0:44:44.
(0:44:44 ; ****)
(Bryan Danielson won the RoH World Title.)

-This was the potty match. Definatly one of the best matches of the night,
but it went so long that there was 10 people at a time having to go to the
bathroom during the rest-holds so they didn't miss any of the blood
pumping action... which there was plenty of. Homicide hit the double
stomp on Danielson when he was all the way in the front row of the crowd...
this got a HUGE holy shit chant. Danielson nailed a series of chops and
stiff kicks and this got over with th crowd big time, but when Homicide
reveresed a slap into a tazplex... wow. I never heard a bigger pop in
person. Homicide had the crowd behind him the WHOLE match. The ending came
quick. Homicide was playing to the crowd and had both his hands raised when
he thought he knocked Danielson down for good. But Danielson got right back
up and executed the stroke to him 'Cide, and slapped on the Cattle
Mutilation. 'Cide didn't tap for a good 1 minute... but then finally gave
in to all of the pain and yelled "I QUIT". Danielson is your new RoH World
Champion. Short after Danielson walked out of the
ring, Masahiro Chono's music hit and he met Danielson at the stage. Chono acted very friendly to Danielson, and put his arm around his shoulder and brought him to the ring. Chono asked for a microphone, and proceeded to speak (in american) to Danielson.

Chono- First off Bryan, I just wanted to say congrats on your big win tonight. I wish you all the luck in the future. Becuase thats what you are going to need. Lots of it. When I came to America... I came here to become one of the biggest International stars in the world. You think I just came to America for the fun? For a tour? No. I came here for the most prestigious title in USA right now... and I believe its the one that is slung over you shoulder right now. I just wanted to warn you... somehwere down the line... we will fight. And I will make you tap out.

Chono extendedis hand and waited for a handshake. Danielson smiled, extended his hand and pulled it back. He spit in Chono's face and waited for a brawl to spark. Instead... nothing happened. Chono laughed. He clapped his hands and motioned the RoH belt around his waist. Chono walked to the back and that was the end of the show.

Been anxiously awaiting this card.  Let's see what happens.

The SATs get a victory ending their little schnide.  Good opening tag match, which I'm always a fan of.

Chono shows who the man is by whipping up on Doug Williams it what looks like an excellent match.  Chono rules so hopefully we'll see more of him.

You're doing a good job with Dinsmore and I'm happy to see him used in such a way.  Hopefully he'll stay on a roll.

Nice match with a helluva finish.  Claudio/Hero should be a great, heated program and I for one am happy to see it.  The Briscoe Bros. rule nonetheless and will continue on the tag team scene.

Surprised Nigel was eliminated first but it's all good.  Glad to see Rave win it over Daniels since I hate the Fallen Angel.

Another helluva main event.  Danielson had to go over I guess but I really wish 'Cide would've gotten the victory.  Me being down-trodden is short-lived though as we see the tease of a Chono/Danielson feud.  This will be awesome.

Great card setting up two awesome feuds.  Good work Sporadico, I really enjoy your ROH.

Being from Sweden myself, I had to check and Hero's promo is now more funny than anything since Claudio isn't from Sweden, but Switzerland :D
CarlzillaPosted on 12/14/06 at 12:04:33

Opening match is good, I love the Ice Creams...COLD STONE STUNNER!!! Too bad they lost.

Chono can and hopefully will school your entire roster. Not that I have anything against anyone else on your roster, I'm just a puro nerd.

Nick Dinsmore may have injured the crap out of that Cappotelli guy...what a jerk, a tactical, and successful jerk.

Chris Hero is apparently the biggest ass in the world, not only does he turn on his long time partner, but he can't even remember where he's from. Sweden...good one Chris. Hopefully the fans told him to "shut the fuck up"*clap*clap*clap* I'm looking forward to Claudio killing him in the future.

Someone on the forums finally puts a title on Jimmy Rave. Kudos good sir.

I'm an AmDrag mark, so any place he is pushed as a champion is a place I'll be paying attention to. Good call on putting him over Homicide. Maybe Homicide can throw another sweet temper tantrum and "quit" RoH again.

Excellent card overall.
SporadicoPosted on 12/14/06 at 21:10:33

Sweden? Who said anything about Sweden? Hero clearly said "Switzerland". I mean scroll up and look at it. It said that the whole time...  ;D. Damn, what a good way to ruin a promo. I feel like a wanker...
