Season 2 Draft is On!

blslivewirePosted on 01/08/08 at 09:31:09

We have 12 teams-6 returning and 6 expansion teams-so we're ready for season 2. Before we start, here's a reminder:

* Your team must have 8 wrestlers: 6 singles and 1 tag team

* Each singles wrestler must fit into a different weight class.

Super Heavyweight: 301 lbs and up

Heavyweight 251-300

Jr. Heavyweight 226-250

Light Heavyweight 201-225

Cruiserweight 181-200

Lightweight 180 and below

NO WRESTLER MAY COMPETE OUT OF HIS WEIGHT DIVISION. Weights can be referenced at the wrestler's promotion's official site or onlineworldofwrestling.com

* Existing teams, when selecting your tag team, you can either select a team or just one wrestler to team with someone already on your team. You'll then have to draft another wrestler to replace him in his weight class on another turn.

* Tag Teams MUST bes real tag teams that teamed together regularly for at least a year.

Here's the draft order:

1. Maximum Performance
2. Knights of the Blue Nothing
3. Parts Unknown
4. Kinglawler's team
5. HallNash's team
6. The Dojo (run by me)
7. The FLying Tigers
8. Maximum Impact
9. Just Us
10. Texas Terror
11. White Tigers
12. The Pain Factory

Once Round 1 ends, we start again with Maximum Performance just like a real sports leage draft.

Once the existing teams fill their rosters up with 8 wrestlers, we step out and let the expansion teams finish filling up their rosters.

Expansion teams need to check the rosters on the Season 2 Sign Up Sheet Thread so they don't waste a pick on someone unavailable.

Questions? If not, Maximum Performance is up...
shapyPosted on 01/08/08 at 18:31:41

The first round draft MXP

Rob Van Dam at 237 lbs
questions:
-the two wrestlers in a tag team count as one pick? ex: do i need to pick ax and then wait the next round to pick smash? i would think not...
-just to confirm, i saw andre on your roster, so we can have deceased wrestlers on our roster?

UnrightPosted on 01/08/08 at 19:47:04

Hey bl... You should probably put the poster name next to the team name so we know who to prod if they're slacking..

Also, why is your Dojo getting a pick before me! Corruption, etc..!

You're correct, the tag team counts as 1 pick.

You can pick any wrestler, dead or alive.

It's an expansion team! lol

Don't worry the pushes will be set the same this year so it won;t matter anyway.
YunPosted on 01/09/08 at 01:19:32

For our first pick the Knights of the Blue Nothing select Multi-Time WWF/E and WCW Tag Team Champions:

The Hardy Boyz
kinglawlerPosted on 01/09/08 at 05:11:55

I've got to go to bed.  Hopefully it will be my turn to draft in the morning.  Oh yeah, the name of my team is Pain On Demand.

I thought it would be a dummy team (IE jobbers) not a secondary team.. Oh well.
SnDvls316Posted on 01/10/08 at 16:19:31

I like it being a real team that way no one gets an easy win
blslivewirePosted on 01/10/08 at 19:59:48

I though about making it a job squad but what good would that be?  Besides, Kurt Angle's a dummy.

The way pushes will work this year is that every wrestler will start with a 80. Champions will start with an 85.  A win via pinfall or submission gets you 3 more points, via DQ or countout gets you 1 point and a title win gets you 5 points.

All losses take 2 points from your push.

The Flying Tigers are up but to move this along, Maximum Impact can go ahead and pick now and Flying Tigers can pick as soon as they get here.

JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 01/11/08 at 00:25:43

Maximum Impact take as their tag team pick:

Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith
blslivewirePosted on 01/11/08 at 06:03:46

Just Us can go know. Flying Tigers can go whenever they're ready but we need to get on with the draft.
UnrightPosted on 01/11/08 at 11:50:31

The Texas Terror take "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

Super Heavyweight: Andre The Giant

Jr. Heavyweight: Shawn Michaels
Light Heavyweight: Dean Malenko

ZedjaPosted on 01/12/08 at 02:13:47

I'll take whichever want you want as long as one of them puts the wrestler in the weight class you need.

You can't really trust the promotion too much since WWE bills Horsnwoggle at 150!

shapyPosted on 01/19/08 at 22:43:28

from what i can understand:
my last pick of curt hennig was premature because white tigers skipped just us and so i went, knowing that pain factory was done...so we'll wait for just us to catch up and then the next round starts with me...but i also thought a 24 hour cap was put into effect...anyway, i'm keeping hennig as my newest pick unless there is a problem...
ZedjaPosted on 01/19/08 at 22:48:25

I didn't skip Just Us since Just Us is Justin and he picked right before me.

EDIT: Ah, Just Us is Unright... Ok, my bad. Got confused there.
blslivewirePosted on 01/19/08 at 22:54:43

We have a 24 hour window so Just Us has until 4 am Us Central time.
shapyPosted on 01/19/08 at 23:00:33

so unless he picks curt hennig or doesn't reply in time, then i'm keeping my pick, curt hennig, and then knights of blue nothing (yun) is up...

Online World of Wrestling clocks the Great Sasuke at 187 lbs so he a lightweight not a Cruiserweight unless you have a promotion that says otherwise.

original rules say cruiser weight @ 181-200 so he's fine

On 01/08/08 at 09:31:09, blslivewire wrote:We have 12 teams-6 returning and 6 expansion teams-so we're ready for season 2.

Questions? If not, Maximum Performance is up...
here's post one on page 1 here I bolded the cruiserweight limits
ZedjaPosted on 01/20/08 at 20:56:05

Hmm.. Yeah you are right... 180 and below for Lightweights.. I guess I have no clue what I'm talking about or why I included him in my Lightweight testrun. Oh well.

I don't know why I mentioned 187 lbs when I knew it was 180 and below... I thought that he came up in my searches, but that could have been an old weight when he was below 180.

I guess he is out for my pick. (He was doing pretty well)
JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 01/20/08 at 21:31:38

Since we were on the subject of who belongs where, technically Triple H & Batista were not a regular team for at least a year like the guidelines said. They were merely stablemates. The final say falls on blslivewire since he's running the circuit, but, I figured it might be worth pointing out.

Y'know.. When I saw that pairing, I decided I wasn't going to say something, but I'd back up someone else who sasys something first.

Which is why I had a secondary pick when I picked my Tag Team. :D But they did tag together now and then especially before Randy Orton joined up.
SnDvls316Posted on 01/20/08 at 22:23:05

I have no problem with the pick

they did team 8 times over a year and a half period (some were 6 man matches)

but beyond that we've gone through 8-12 more picks since then and he's picked 2 or 3 more since then. I think if someone had/has an issue with a pick it needs to be brought up right away.

I say he gets to keep the pick, if we were taking a vote in the matter.
JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 01/21/08 at 00:26:28

* Tag Teams MUST bes real tag teams that teamed together regularly for at least a year.

I don't think 8 times over a year & a half counts as regularly. But like I said before the final say goes to the guy running the show.

But, the reason I waited so long to say something was like Unright I wanted to see if anyone else would say anything first.
SnDvls316Posted on 01/21/08 at 00:56:41

would you consider Strike Force  or the Natural Diasters a tag team?
SnDvls316Posted on 01/21/08 at 00:58:10

should add those 8 times were "on TV" who knows the real number if you want to count house shows.
JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 01/21/08 at 01:19:33

The point I was making was that Triple H & Batista were not the "tag Team" of Evolution. The actual "regular team" was that of Flair & Batista. It's like saying that just because they were in the 4 Horsemen, Ole Anderson & Tully Blanchard were a tag team. While Tully & Ole did team occationally & in 6 man matches, the "regular team" was that of Ole & Arn.
SnDvls316Posted on 01/21/08 at 01:43:58

and my point was that it's pretty hard to define "regular" in our aspect.

Strike Force had 4 times they were on TV when they teamed "regulary" in a year period and the Natural Diasters had 7 times in less than a year and a half.

I understand that Evolution was a 4 man "team" and the 2 that happened to win the titles were Batista & Flair.

I point is the rule is ambigious and vague so that is why I feel it should be fine...now for next season it probally needs to be tweeked to read.

"Tag Teams MUST be real 2 man tag teams that teamed together regularly*, as a 2 man team, for at least a year."

*regulary is defined as documented matches on either Online World of Wrestling or another site that is approved be the "commish" or a majority of "owners" or the fact that they held a major US, Japan or Mexico 2 man tag team title.

this would have eliminated the debate and it wouldn't be an issue. I see everyone's point of contention, but to bring it up over 8 picks late and after Z has done 3 other picks is just late in my book. Having him to have to change that pick at this point and with everyone seeing whom has now been picked would just screw up the whole league....and that is my point.

not speaking for him, but if blsilvewire had a problem with it, then I'm sure it would have been brought up well before this point.

my 2 cents I'll drop it at this point.
JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 01/21/08 at 02:22:27

Where did you get thses stats?

I can remember from watching Superstars, Challenge, PPV's & whatever the USA show at the time was that those 2 teams were on ALOT more often than that.

While very detailed, OWW is far from a complete source for results.

Okay as for the Triple H/Batista thing:

I should have caught that earlier as it is a violation of the rules but since I failed to catch it, I really have no choice but to let it go for this season only. Next season, however, they can't be a tag team.

I think the rules are pretty clear but now we all know for sure so we'll move on.

OWW is an okay for source for results of major and semi-major US promotions for the past 5 years or so, but they don't have a complete, week by week rundown for the 80s and 90s mostly. But please believe us when we say that Strikeforce and The Nasty Boys did team up way more than that. thehistoryofwwe.com would be a better source for that.

If there's still any questions about the tag team rules feel free to ask.

MI 8 is now up/
