Hiatus

UnrightPosted on 11/15/05 at 17:55:02

Hey.. I'm still alive.

My computer isn't so. More specifically my C: Drive.

The good news is, the TNMWA folder and lots of other important stuff for me (like my mp3 collection, my pictures, & and other irreplaceble stuff) were on my D: Drive, which still works.

The bad news is, it'll take me a while to get up and running again. I'm in college and finals are coming up in about a month, plus I'm also the proverbial broke college student. My mother-in-law gave me an older Dell computer that her office didn't use anymore, but I tried plugging it in last night after replacing the power supply, but it seems to have it's own demons (I hate Dell).

So, long story short (too late!), TNMWA is on Hiatus again. And I can't even hand off the exports to someone else because I can't even access the hard drive right now. Sorry to everyone, but it'll be back someday.

It's too bad, but the good thing for us is that you had a valid reason.
UnrightPosted on 12/12/05 at 17:28:00

Good news is that I got a new computer.

Bad news is that my more computer savvy friend who had been trying to salvage my old drive said the data on the old harddrive was unrecoverable. So with all the exports lost, TNMWA is essentially dead in the water.

As much as I'd like to start it up again by soliciting for exports and participation, I think I've run into the same problem as Carlzilla. Namely, that there doesn't seem to be much overall board enthuthiasm for this little project.

Of course, TNM is an extreme niche game and of it's users only a fraction visit the forum with any regularity, and then only a fraction of them can do so with enough regularity and desire to participate in TNMWA. So that's why were left with about 6 participants and only a limited number of permutable matches before everyone gets bored.

So, I dunno. If people really want TNMWA to live on, we could try to make it work. We could all have 4 wrestlers each, more real wrestlers, etc.. But I think the forum population is kinda at its ebb until something like TNM7 3rd Edition comes out to rouse the wrestling text simulator masses.

Unright,
First, it is good to see you back among the opperable.  and I agree with much of the sentiment that you have stated.  TNM and as such TNMWA is a Niche focused topic at best.

To make TNMWA work, it takes participation by all involved or things to get stale.  I for one waited and lurked in the boards for some time before I finally spoke up and threw my hat in the ring with Sanders because some of the folks here in the TNM boards are great writers and have in my opinion better written circuits and federations than just about any that you can find on TV or the internet.  There is a heavy intimidation factor to many of the newer users to TNM.

I for one will more than happy help with a rebirth of TNMWA in any way you need the assistance.

Perhaps it is time to restart from the ground up.  As far as your idea for more use of reaal wrestlers, I would have little problem facing off against some of the folks that we see and/or have seen in the industry's hayday.  My biggest concern there is that we have a level playing field and the "Real" wrestlers have the same number of points assigned as the wrestlers that we have made available to us.  The rules that were established previously would need to apply to them as well as to those that the TNMWA have as established folks.

If more folks pop up from 3rd edition, that is great, the more the merrier.  and the fewer matches per wrestler per card, the more credible the circuit will become.

That is just my 2 cents for the day.

I'm always in for the game. As far as messaging and the like, I get a chance to do it when I can. usually I'm here 2-3 times a day, but that's not always a given.

As far as real wrestlers go, I'm in. But I think they should be nominated or something similar. Maybe for everyone of our guys, you can pick a real wrestler to join as well. Or maybe we can do a vote on those not currently in TNA and WWE. Something like that. I don't know, I'm rambling and have a belly ache. Whatever.
ZedjaPosted on 12/13/05 at 09:07:01

The bad thing about this was that nobody was able to take away the title from me..... oh wait.... No it wasn't ;)

Actually what is bad about this is that we didn't get more story out of it. I had some plans about what to do next. Unfortunally when I went away to Japan only one person challenged me for a title shot which means they didn't find things funny anymore.

I'm all for going at it again, but I think it's best that all involved make at least two wrestlers this time so that we get some variation. Maybe one heel and one face each??

EDIT: Oh I just saw that you requested 4 wrestlers. I can do that. No problem.
UnrightPosted on 12/13/05 at 15:23:20

I'm just tossing out ideas. I like TNMWA, I enjoyed running it, I just want to make sure it doesn't get old or boring. But there are pros and cons to every idea.

Adding real wrestlers helps beef up the roster, but essentially, they're just extra characters for me to play. Why should I be controlling x number of characters while you guys only get y number. We've done two one-shot deals (Muto & Hart) that've had mixed results. Muto was kept on as a jobber while Hart decimated our champ and took off.

Increasing the number of wrestlers per poster works, but it's not a substitute for extra people. I mean, if I aim for a roster number of 30, and only 2 people (besides myself) want to participate then we've each got 10 wrestlers and it's a bit ridiculous.

I'm open to any other ideas.

three words:

Team Challenge Series.

And no I won't be Jake "The Milkman" Milliman.  ;)

So, uhm... I don't suppose there's ANY interest in restarting this?

Not that i've already idiotically started topics in other threads about it or anything...

LillaThrillaPosted on 09/14/07 at 17:12:30

Would be nice.
King MunshunPosted on 09/14/07 at 17:19:48

I'd like to get Tilo and Unright's thoughts on it. I'd like to start it over, or start a new circuit, so long as they're cool with it and enough people show interest.
mamushiPosted on 09/14/07 at 17:35:58

I'd do it again.
King MunshunPosted on 09/14/07 at 17:49:47

I messaged Unright and Tilo about either reopening TNMWA or starting a new one. Would anyone be opposed to me running it, if it came down to it?
MGDukesterPosted on 09/14/07 at 17:54:54

I'd give it another try, I had barely started when the last version ended.

I think you're a fine candidate to run it.

I second the nomination

I was thinking of running it a little differently than the last time, judging by the rules, but I guess that would really be up to everyone involved. I'm gonna wait till i hear back from those two, then read the old shows and see what it was like. I have some ideas of my own.
JakePosted on 09/14/07 at 18:07:16

I'd be interested.

But only if Jake gets to be the Triple H circa 2003 of the fed.
