First triple threat match in WWF?

Anybody know when this was?

I believe the first one on PPV, and I believe also the first televised, was @ Ground Zero: IYH (Sept. 1997) between Faarooq, Crush, and Savio Vega. I seem to remember reading a year or so before that they did some on house shows with the Intercontinental Title involving Goldust, Marc Mero, and someone else (judging on the time period I would assume it was either Austin, Triple H, or Owen Hart).

I remember Owen Hart vs. Ken Shamrock vs. Dan Severn, but i'll let you guess when that was.

I actually found a match that would predate the one I said. It was on an episode of Raw that would have been before the Canadian Stampede PPV. According to the Gerweck page on Owen Hart there was a Triple Threat between Owen, Triple H, and Goldust (http://www.gerweck.net/owenharttrib.htm). I would be surprised if the first one was on free TV and not PPV, but it was the era of the Monday Night Wars so who knows.

Yep, that Owen Hart-Hunter Hearst Helmsley-Goldust match from RAW in the summer of 1997 is the first televised triple threat in WWE history. I remember that fact being brought up by the announcers at the time.

Obviously, various promotions had done them before (ECW's The Night The Line Was Crossed was back in 1993), and WWE may very well have had them previously, but yeah, the Raw ep was probably the first free-tv, live (Was Raw live at the time?) three-way-match.
