Highlanders on TNA...

... So, was "Robbie's" appearance staged with permission of WWE, or are the cousins soon to be Best Endevored?

Also, anyone else's SpikeTV having sound issues?

From rajah.com:
As reported earlier here at Rajah.com, WWE sent Robbie McAllister home from Orlando, Florida today. According to Dave Meltzer, several TNA wrestlers are upset at company management for putting him on live television and mentioning his name on the official TNA website. McAllister is good friends with Johnny Devine and came to see his match against Alex Shelley.

McAllister stood in line to get into the event and tried not to call any attention to himself. There was concern amongst TNA talent that it could end up costing him job as the overall feeling from inside the locker room is that it was a classless move by the promotion.

WWE told all of their superstars when they first arrived in Orlando not to attend any TNA or Ring of Honor events or socialize with talent from other promotions in public.

Note:  TNA pisses off it's own talent, gets a WWE guy pretty much fired, and then wonder why their live rating sucks when it's up against the NCAA Tourney?  Crazily enough the RAW that will air against the Tourney Final, will still pull in a decent rating for WWE.

Robbie wasn't the only one there, just the only one caught on camera.

from Gerweck:
Many WWE wrestlers are backstage including but not limited to The Highlanders, Shannon Moore and Chavo Guerrero.

Rick GarrardPosted on 03/29/08 at 14:54:22

Shannon Moore is a non-factor because he's rarely on WWE TV.  Chavo will be most likely dropping the ECW Title at WM tomorrow and "I'm Robbie" is getting fired from WWE in the post WM round of releases.

The Highlanders of OVW were much more entertaining than they were in the WWE. Oh, couldn't have ANYTHING to do with Paul Heyman I suppose.

Perhaps, The Highlanders are going to be the new face of TNA.  I don't get how there can be two Highlanders when the movie clearly stated that there can only be one.

ProWrestling.net is reporting that WWE's Robbie McAllister told fans who ran into him in Orlando today that WWE is sending him home and he will not be part of WrestleMania 24. If Robbie is shooting straight with the fans, it can be assumed that this is his punishment for being at the live TNA broadcast last night.

There were a number of wrestlers in TNA who were upset over management's decision to show Robbie McAllister during Thursday's live Impact. One source said the wrestlers thought it was a classless act, since Robbie was only there to see his friend Johnny Devine work and he's now in trouble with Vince.
ThnikkamanPosted on 03/29/08 at 18:13:03

I agree this was a classless act by TNA. I also thought the fact that they used Robbie's real name was inappropriate as well. Russo strikes again.

Chavo was more than likely going to lose the ECW Title anyway/

But also since he was not 'main event material' he takes most of the flack... kind of like a sacrificial lamb of sorts.
Rick GarrardPosted on 03/29/08 at 22:00:19

But to lose it to Funaki??! ;)

You know you can make Funaki without a little Funk.  :)

A fan report off Gerweck:

- After Highlander Robbie McAllister was seen on Impact Thursday night, he was either called or texted to Leave immediately, and sent home. For what it is worth, we received the following e-mail from reader Antonio, Robbie was walking around Islands of Adventure and i saw him buy the Incredible Hulk ride. He had a small crowd around him. He was wearing a Wrestlemania 24 shirt and reading earlier that he was sent home, i went up to him and i asked him whether or not he was sent home. He told me "Don't believe everything you read." After he replied I asked him "Are you going to be at WrestleMania?" he replied "I will be there".
Rick GarrardPosted on 03/30/08 at 00:44:45

of course he's going to be there...

He will be the guy sitting in the front row sporting his new "I'm a TNA Fanboy" t-shirt available at WWE Shopzone. ;)

If Robbie keeps his job, this is just the beginning of the WWE is working with TNA rumors.
pszPosted on 03/30/08 at 01:46:46

Those rumours started when WM24s venue was announced :-P

Hell, didn't Anewbie claim Christan and Angle were "sent" to TNA?
Rick GarrardPosted on 03/30/08 at 04:30:03

You know this is the second time that Nash and Russo have "taken over" a supposed rival company to the WWE.  :)

For starters, they couldn't call him "Robbie McAllister" since the name is trademarked, so if they felt they HAD to refer to him on air (which they shouldn't have, obviously) then they HAD to use his real name.

Secondly, I dislike Russo as much as the next guy but are we just going to blame EVERYTHING on him now? I'm willing to bet that it wasn't his decision at all.
ThnikkamanPosted on 03/31/08 at 21:26:11

Never underestimate the sleaziness of Vince Russo. While I understand the trademark infringement of using Robbie McAlister, to put him on TV at all was bad enough, so why not go all the way and call him Robbie McAlister as well.

Could set up an interesting angle where they hire Robbie (after we wish him well in his future endeavors), and he comes to TNA and blames Russo for costing him his job with WWE. Especially if Vince keeps Rory and hires some guy to be the "other" McAlister brother and they win the Tag Titles

I've put too much thought into this post ...  :-

Because they'd get sued. Seriously, do you not understand the implications of getting sued?

I'm thinking the exact opposite.
ThnikkamanPosted on 03/31/08 at 23:54:07

gotta love that biting British style of yours 91

while I have never been sued personally (wait for it, I am still in my early 30's, anything can happen), I do very much understand the implications of being sued. I was simply trying to vent a bit on how I felt about TNA's decision to put Robbie on during Impact. I personally put this up with WCW revealing WWE results on Nitro. Classless, useless and not necessary. There is probably some lawyer out there who could come up with few reasons to sue TNA over what they did do (certainly if Robbie loses his job over this, TNA could be held liable in some way, although Robbie should have known better and watched on Spike like everyone else.) I guess I just have a problem with what they did, the extent they went to, etc. But that's me. You may feel differently. That's you.

And really, it doesn't matter.
pszPosted on 04/01/08 at 02:05:35

A lawyer could EASILLY bring up the case of "They put WWE on the screen without a TM and without permission".

Granted, that'd be a slap on the wrist judgement, and the WWE would probably spend more money on said lawyer than what they'd be awarded, but still...

Oh, and I agree with 91 that Russo probably had very little to do with it... I'm thinking some over-zealous director decided "OOH! Look at that! I can make brownie points with management!".

And epic fail ensued.
ThnikkamanPosted on 04/01/08 at 02:40:07

even though I mentioned his name, I agree that Russo had almost nothing to do with the whole affair. However, he is one of the guys I love to blame things on, so he gets the heat.
Rick GarrardPosted on 04/01/08 at 02:47:16

and where was Kevin Sullivan this past Thursday night?  We all know it was his fault somehow.

I heard Kevin Sullivan once punched a hole in a cow just to see who was comin' up the road.

And oddly enough from what I have heard (and this is only what I have heard) Vince Russo is not even involved with wrestling anymore and has decided to follow in the footsteps of Ted Dibise and become a minister

Russo has been on Sting's evangelical program, and has given testomonials at prisons.

However, according to TNA, he still works for them in the Creative team.
