TNA wasted money on Sting and Angle

JakePosted on 11/09/07 at 23:22:14

Scott Hall's return to television on this week's TNA iMPACT! made this week's show the most watched since it expanded to 2 hours.

Hall showed up to officially announce that his NOT Sting's mystery partner for this Sunday's GENESIS PPV. His interaction with Karen Angle, Kurt Angle and Kevin Nash was very entertaining.

The show drew 1.5 million viewers. Here are some of hte key demographics:

M18-49: .84
P18-49: .60
M18-34: .69

This was TNA's highest rating ever in the Men 18-49 demographic.
Scott Freaking Hall.

Imagine that.

Kurt couldn't do it.

Steve couldn't do it.

It was Hall that did it.

Behold the power of the Kliq.

Nash and Hall being TNA tag champs is going to be GREAT.

Outsiders vs Steiners feud~
Rick GarrardPosted on 11/10/07 at 01:54:02

Outsiders will have the tag titles, Steiners will beat them at a PPV.  Outsiders will regain them at Tuesday's TV but not in a match, but because Russo says that the Steiners have to give them back to the Outsiders or they are fired... Russo will then bring out an older referee and humilate him in front of his family and publically fire him (kayfabe).  Then again this is WCW 1997... er Then again, this is TNA.  ;)
Memphis VicePosted on 11/13/07 at 22:50:49

I'm still probably not going to bother watching, but I'm glad Hall's back...and I can believe that he could draw ratings where Sting and Angle couldn't. I could also believe it has nothing to do with Hall, though. Who knows? Wacky Neilsens.
VertigoPosted on 11/14/07 at 01:06:36

I think Hall & Nash could make pretty good TV as long as they stay OUT of the ring. Nash's backstage promos with Shelley were great (the ones I saw), but in the ring Nash can't even move around anymore. And while Hall is probably more mobile than Nash, he probably shouldn't be in the ring either.
AllPowerfulGARTHPosted on 11/14/07 at 13:15:13

I would think that in Scott Hall's case, the best course of action would be to keep him in the ring as much as possible, because when he's in the ring, he's not out getting hammered and making an ass of himself.

Well, at least they did not hire Teddy Hart. He doesn't even need to be drunk to make an ass of himself.

Just a quick note on wasted money by TNA

From Phillyburbs.com

WWE stars who fail drug tests are willing to give up more money, more fame, more security, more merchandise sales, and a better future to work for TNA. Why would that be? TNA's signing of Booker T is yet another sign of the safe haven that the company continues to be for WWE wrestlers that refuse to comply with WWE's Wellness Policy.

Jeff Hardy, Brian Armstrong, Andrew Martin, and now Booker Huffman are cases in point of wrestlers who sought out the safe haven of TNA after failing a drug test. TNA claimed they were going to get serious about cleaning up their company once congress announced that they would be investigating pro wrestling. A few months later and not only does that not appear to be the case, but their world champion and company face was arrested on a DUI, found with pills in his mouth according to police reports, and yet continues to main-event shows like nothing happened. A few weeks later just fresh off a 60-day suspension from the WWE, the company signs Booker T.

You do realize that you've insinuated he has acne hanging out of his colon, right?

jursoPosted on 11/20/07 at 07:44:30

so we have Andrew Martin's acne/hemroids ... Triple H is clearing that up for us ...

uh what are we talking about again? ???
pszPosted on 11/20/07 at 14:49:14

We're talking about ugly blistering lack of charisma and old movesets in wrestling...

Of course... This is TNA.

Wrestling Observer:

-- On the heels of the recently strengthened WWE Wellness Policy -- which is supposed to close some of the loopholes -- there is a huge fear among some of the wrestlers about getting fired due to it because there isn't a viable "WCW-like" promotion out there. TNA isn't perceived to be on the same level as WCW because there's a lot less money and exposure. While TNA has a rep for hiring talent fired for drug issues in WWE, at this point, they're not going to take a fired WWE wrestler who lost his job over a drug test failure unless he is a top level star or friends with the right people in TNA -- and that's a pretty small list.
pszPosted on 11/26/07 at 14:49:46

Well here's an outrageous concept:

Stay clean, don't get fired.

Amazing, no?

I'm sorry V_V
Rick GarrardPosted on 11/27/07 at 01:37:10

you know what would be great since Sting is on "hiatus" with TNA through January and then doesn't have a contract....

A Reverse Black Scorpion angle starting tonight in Charlotte with Ric Flair being stalked by a mysterious man from his past.  :)
pszPosted on 11/27/07 at 03:10:49

OH come on, Rick...

You know that would require TALENT in the writing staff of either/or both companies.

Silly Garrard.
Rick GarrardPosted on 11/27/07 at 05:30:40

the mysterious man stalking Flair seems to be Shawn Michaels after the look HBK gave after his speech in the locker room.  And Jericho is so gonna turn heel at some point after not winning the title from Orton, it's gonna be funny when the netSmarks get all pissy about it.
TrancePosted on 11/27/07 at 21:14:04

Hell, just announce the return of Shockmaster...

Actually it would horrendously UNtalented if they did that. I mean, sure, it would still be the greatest thing in the history of television, but it'd also be awful.
