Sting's mystery partner?

Some ARSEHOLE Stole My GimmickPosted on 10/26/07 at 17:40:12

Who do you think it is?

Don West said he was a World champion in every promotion he was in.

Booker T?

Hulk Hogan?(I hope not) :(

If it's Booker T, maybe, just maybe I'll start watching TNA again  :D
91Posted on 10/26/07 at 17:58:04

David Arquette, duh.
JakePosted on 10/26/07 at 18:00:51

I get the feeling they're going for a reverse-nWo.

Sting will start the match on his own, but Kevin Nash will "jump sides".

Damn, I hope not! Today's Nash could not even draw flies to a shit factory.
JakePosted on 10/26/07 at 19:17:05

Yeah, I don't really see Nash having a whole lot of ringtime during this match.

Though I see him walking out as Champ. :o
A True Brazilian PatriotPosted on 10/26/07 at 20:13:21

I HOPE NASH WINS, BUT THEN THROWS THE BELT DOWN~
MatteusPosted on 10/26/07 at 22:49:46

Technically, it can't be Nash, right?  B/c he was never World champion in TNA...

Booker T sounds great though I'm pretty sure he can't compete at that point.  But I can't think of many wrestlers who fit that description that are on the current roster besides Sting and Angle.

What wrestlers could we say that about in general?  Let alone on the current roster.

EDIT: Could they count World TAG TEAM champion as World champion? :-P
91Posted on 10/26/07 at 22:51:02

Who wants to bet that if they did hire Booker that they'd have him do some interview trashing the 'king' gimmick?
MatteusPosted on 10/26/07 at 22:51:57

Nevermind... Abyss anyone?
AllPowerfulGARTHPosted on 10/27/07 at 00:23:20

I say Jeff Jarrett.

Yeah, I know he was never world champ in WWE, but why let that niggling little fact get in the way of things.
JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 10/27/07 at 01:17:53

Using an above theory... Jarett was a World Tag Team Champion in WWE with Owen Hart.

91Posted on 10/27/07 at 02:40:28

Thinking about it, Booker T was in the Global Wrestling Federation in the early to mid 90's and he never won a world title there.

Granted they didn't HAVE a world title as they weren't big enough, but all the same...

Yeah, but the GWF was pretty much a glorified indy. It never had World Title recognition from any major wrestling puplication or body.
Rick GarrardPosted on 10/27/07 at 23:16:36

a glorified indy with daily TV at 4pm ET on ESPN Monday-Thursday (Monday through Wednesday with weeks where ESPN would air live golf coverage)

Then again, Crockett's NWA/WCW was really just a glorified indy at well.
The TNM Members ChampPosted on 10/28/07 at 00:04:46

Rick do you remember if GWF had a hour each day? That's a lot of television coverage for a glorified indy promotion. ESPN was much better back then when they had pro wrestling on everyday.
JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 10/28/07 at 00:35:57

I remember ESPN had AWA, WCCW/USWA, & GWF shows back in the day. That had me rushing home from school everyday to catch what was really some great action.
Some ARSEHOLE Stole My GimmickPosted on 10/28/07 at 01:06:50

Here is my list:

Hogan
Booker T
Goldberg

Since there has never been an ECW World Champion that held all three belts (WWE, WCW, and ECW world titles), I can't think of anyone else. I
91Posted on 10/28/07 at 01:18:02

Again I reitterate David Arquette. And also, if you ignore his cup of coffee in ECW, there is the little matter of Sycho Sid...
JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 10/28/07 at 01:21:58

Big Show was ECW, WWE, & WCW World Champion.

Dammit, I knew there was someone else. But I don't consider WWECW a wrestling promotion, lol. So I guess that's why I forgot him.
91Posted on 10/28/07 at 02:05:21

But even if you don't consider it, surely he's still been a world champion in every promotion he's been in.
Rick GarrardPosted on 10/28/07 at 02:26:22

It's gonna be Booker T.

As for the GWF, I believe at the time they were airing three hours of programming each week.  Initially it was AWA on Mondays, World Class on Tuesday, Wednesday and sometimes Thursdays.  At the time, AWA would also air live specials on Sunday nights from time to time, including one live show from Comiskey Park in Chicago.

I believe that when AWA lost its run, World Class took over Mondays as well.  Then it became new WCCW on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Legends of World Class on Wednesdays and sometimes Thurds.  Then Jarrett and the USWA took over.  And the USWA pretty much ran Monday-Wednesday for a few months, until Max Andrews and Joe Pedicino developed the GWF which was a breading ground for a lot of the stars of the Monday Night Wars.
MatteusPosted on 10/30/07 at 01:55:49

According to Impact! spoilers for Thursday...

Sting says his partner is a former WCW and WWE World champion who hates Angle.
So we're left with:

Ric Flair
The Rock
Bret Hart
Booker T
Randy Savage
Big Show
Sid Vicious
Goldberg

With the most obvious and likely choices being Booker and Big Show... I guess I'll go with Big Show then and pray to GOD that it's not Randy Savage...
JakePosted on 10/30/07 at 02:18:44

Wouldn't Booker T be ineligible?

No Compete Clause and all?

I think Flair also has a no compete clause, so I doubt it's him.

He didn't quit, only gave notice.

Why would anyone hate Kurt Angle though? So I will assume that Sting will not have a tag team partner if we are basing this off of hatred.
JakePosted on 10/30/07 at 06:20:47

Hey, wasn't Chris Benoit...

:-X
Rick GarrardPosted on 10/30/07 at 06:33:42

so was Senor Eddy G....
pszPosted on 10/30/07 at 13:44:12

Big Show and Angle? Hmm... I GUESS you could work a "hate" angle there.

Flair and Angle had the "Woo-Off" on a few occasions, so that'd work (assuming Flair wasn't with the WWE)

Booker T and Angle? King vs King? I guess... No Compete clause SHOULD still be in effect (unless he was given and unconditional release)

Bret Hart? Ultimate Mark Out Moment. Not gonna happen.

CHRIS JERICHO!??!?! (Ultimate WWE/Jericho swerve)

pszPosted on 10/30/07 at 19:02:15

Since when did the IC Championship become a World Championship? ;->
91Posted on 10/30/07 at 22:50:42

I guess anything qualifies as a world title (despite the fact that's not what 'intercontinental' means - the clue is in letters 6 through 13), so I'm declaring myself the 'World Chris's Flat Champion" and I'm going to use this belt I bought from Marks and Sparks to make it official. In case you need a visual, it's a standard buckle painted gold to look expensive, and it's mostly faux black leather.

I'm going to ring Bill Apter to see if he still has enough stroke with PWI to get them to recognise this.
A True Brazilian PatriotPosted on 10/31/07 at 00:21:51

I'm not sure why you guys assumed TNA was being completely honest in the first place (about the "world title everywhere" thing.)

So... maybe they're not having the tag match at all? :(
JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 10/31/07 at 00:29:58

Food for thought:

If you watch the preview video for Genesis on TNA's website, they go through the tag match & when they get to Sting's "Mystery Partner" they show entrance way pyro like what Booker used to use in WCW & WWE.
pszPosted on 10/31/07 at 02:11:33

So, when/if Booker T goes to TNA, will he still be able to use the remixed/resampled Kraftwerk he's had since WCW?

Rick GarrardPosted on 10/31/07 at 03:52:26

yes, because that music is royalty free music.  All TNA has to do is pony up the one time fee to buy that song.  For years it was also used on CNN's sports.  And it is on a best of Time Magazine CD-Rom that I have from back when CD-ROM's first came to the PC.  So yes TNA can use it, if they pay for it, and it's gotta be pretty inexpensive since it's been used in so many places... much like Jeff Hardy's intro and the old Lex Luger theme.
pszPosted on 10/31/07 at 13:29:03

But those are all Time-Warner companies (Time Magazine, CNN, WCW...), so maybe it's a Time-Warner tune that was used in WCW? Maybe it's a WCW original that Time-Warner used on other stuff? Maybe WWE got the rights with the purchase?

Or...

BOOKER T IS THE MYSTERY PARTNER OF KRAFTWERK! O_o

Terkay kind of hates him, but thank God he was never a World Champion. Terkay kind of hated him because Angle ended his unbeaten streak in college.

The teaser video for Genesis says that combined they hold over 40 World Championships. Well if you add together the Singles World Titles held by Nash, Angle, Sting, & Booker (assuming the rumors are true) they only add to only 30 (going from OWW's profiles & title histories). But, if you add in their respective World TAG TEAM Title reigns the number jumps up to 57.

Plus TNA Mobile sent out the important fact that "Sting's mystery partner has never stepped foot in a TNA ring."

Thanks TNA, that narrows it down.
