TNA talking to...

JustinCrediblePosted on 10/07/07 at 20:29:27

TNA's Mobile Alert hassent out the following:

TNA is in negotiations with a former WWE IC and European champion.

Now from that, it's not hard to gather up the possibilities:

RVD
D'Lo Brown
Andrew "Test" Martin (who was recently sent home from TNA for looking too jakked during the steroid controversy)
and of course
Chris Jericho (who has been all but confirmed for a WWE return)

That is assuming they mean that it is just one man that held both titles. It could be assumed that they might be talking to a former I-C champ and a former Euro champ making the list alot longer.
rebelinsPosted on 10/07/07 at 20:36:55

D'Lo is probably the most likely option although RVD may do it since he really hated the road and would only have to go to Orlando for TV tapings.
91Posted on 10/07/07 at 20:42:47

Well it's not going to be RVD or Jericho, else they wouldn't have gone down the "former European champion" route. Unless they're bringing Test back, which seems unlikely, or someone we thought had a contract with the WWE actually doesn't anymore, D-Lo is the only possibility.

Unless they're in negotiations with Jeff Jarrett to arrange some extra parking out back.
JustinCrediblePosted on 10/07/07 at 21:12:53

The only ones to hold both titles ar as follows:

Shawn Michaels (WWE)
Triple H (WWE)
D'Lo Brown (Japan)
Owen Hart (RIP)
Jeff Jarrett (TNA)
Davey Boy Smith (RIP)
Val Venis (WWE)
Kurt Angle (TNA)
Chris Jericho (WWE?)
Eddie Guerrero (RIP)
William Regal (WWE)
Test (free agent)
Christian Cage (TNA)
Jeff Hardy (WWE)
RVD (free agent...however RVD was not technically a Euro champ since it was a unification match with the I-C title.)

I agree with 91 that you wouldn't refer to HBK HHH, RVD, or Jericho as just "Former Euro and IC champ", you'd outright say former WWE or WWE World Champ.

Unless Val or Regal are out of WWE (Regal's still Raw GM, and Val looks to be in a feud with Santino), I'd say D-Lo is your best bet, too.
Snabbit888Posted on 10/08/07 at 03:28:24

In what seems like a silly thing, it's very doubtfully RVD.  I talked to him at a standup show a couple weeks back, and he seems to want to give standup comedy a try.  He seemed all but disenchanted with wrestling right now.  He'll probably return somewhere eventually, but I'd be shocked if it was soon.  Then again, how often does somebody say one thing and do another in wrestling?
C-R-P-L-SPosted on 10/08/07 at 04:18:01

RVD may do it since he really hated the road and would only have to go to Orlando for TV tapings.
He lives in LA, and I can't really see him traveling even just there two/three times a month given how the company is being ran...
rebelinsPosted on 10/08/07 at 04:28:37

Yeah, I'm sure D'Lo is the only option.  If he does come I hope he brings The CHEST PROTECTOR~!
pszPosted on 10/08/07 at 14:35:26

Ahem... CHEST PROTECTOR OF DOOM!!!!

phudjiePosted on 10/08/07 at 22:01:25

.....couldn't Sean Waltman be on that list - I'm not 100% on his title history, but I'm reasonably sure he's held both...
JakePosted on 10/08/07 at 22:04:09

It doesn't matter who it is.

1.) They'll get pushed as a main eventer for 2-3 months.
2.) They'll get pushed... aside for the next WWE-reject.

Never been IC.

As solid as that formula is for TNA, D'Lo Brown spent some time with the company as a midcarder a few years back, so if he is the guy, he's not likely to get a main event push.
JustinCrediblePosted on 10/10/07 at 01:26:50

Joey Matthews (Joey Mercury) and TNA are in major talks. TNA wants him to start immeditly and want him for Bound For Glory. They're having trouble arranging a flight that would get him into Atlanta on time due to overseas indy commitments.

Seems like a good idea.. he'd fit in there pretty well, but, he's the head trainer for OVW's beginners class right now. I wonder how that'll work if he strikes a TNA deal.

He's been replaced by Nick "Eugene" Dinsmore.
JustinCrediblePosted on 10/12/07 at 21:59:45

OVW's website still has Matthews listed as their beginner's class trainer.

For OVW School Beginner's Class info: call Joey Matthews
rebelinsPosted on 10/12/07 at 22:24:19

Yeah, but he was just replaced by Dinsmore.  It was reported in the rags this week I believe.  WWE developmental aren't the best usually on updating their sites.
JustinCrediblePosted on 10/13/07 at 03:20:05

Can you give me a link to that... I can't find it anywhere.
JakePosted on 10/13/07 at 03:37:00

Rajah.com

-- Nick Dinsmore aka Eugene is returning to his roots. Dinsmore will help groom the stars of tomorrow as he was named the new head trainer of Ohio Valley Wrestling's intermediate class. He is replacing Joey Matthews aka Joey Mercury in the position.
rebelinsPosted on 10/13/07 at 06:11:57

C/P from the F4W Newsletter

Nick Dinsmore (Eugene) replaced Joey Matthews (Joey Mercury) as the head trainer of the OVW intermediate class (the Derby City guys) this week.
JustinCrediblePosted on 10/13/07 at 14:11:43

Joey was the trainer for the beginner class both of these say intermediate. They are 2 different classes at OVW.
Rick GarrardPosted on 10/13/07 at 14:32:55

it's funny that Rip Rogers is still listed as the Intermediate contact on the OVW webstie.  He left a couple of months ago if not mistaken, which was when they moved Mathews into the Intermediate teaching role.  Not sure who is running the beginners class, but it makes sense that OVW's best trainer in Dinsmore is back with Danny Davis and Al Snow.
JustinCrediblePosted on 10/13/07 at 15:08:39

Matthews replaced Tank Toland as beginner's instructor, when Toland left afew months back (about the same time as Rogers). Maybe Dinsmore was just given the intermediate class to let Joey concentrate on beginners.

PWInsider.com is reporting that Robert Gibson was released on Saturday morning by World Wrestling Entertainment. Gibson had been working as a trainer for WWE's Louisville based Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental promotion.
Maybe Nicky got his job.
JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 10/24/07 at 00:25:41

The reports coming from TNA mobile that Scotty 2 Hotty, Brian Christopher and Too Cold Scorpio may be in negotiations with TNA are totally false. The company is using their text messaging service to do nothing in this case but stir up talk and buzz for the company.
JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 10/24/07 at 02:10:57

TNA Mobile:

Former WWE Superstar D'Lo Brown has signed with TNA.
ZedjaPosted on 10/24/07 at 14:04:27

And Joey is in a tag team in TNA now.
