Defend Joe

.....I don't really see what everybody else sees in Samoa Joe.....

....To me - Samoa Joe has only been impressive when he has been in the ring with somebody who is a top tier worker, wrestlers like Christopher Daniels or A.J. Styles spring to mind. I also have doubts about his power, has he managed to safely do any power moves to a serious heavyweight, the ending to his match with Scott Steiner (a powerslam?) last summer had left me some lingering doubts as to his ability to work safely with larger opponents. I know he used to play football and everything, but has he managed to toss around some big guys safely?.....

.....it seems like when he has a sub-standard match, everybody automatically points the finger at their opponents (Steiner, Angle, Cage).....

.....I know it may seem like I'm trying to instigate something here but I'm not, I just don't get it with Samoa Joe and I'm not saying "attack me", I'm saying, "help me out, make me a fan".....

First off, he's probably the best US worker in the strong style and puro style.  His brawling ability is second to none, and his ring presence is probably the best outside of guys like Triple H.  As for his power, that would be impossible to judge as I have never seen him take on anyone who's very big.  ROH has no legit heavyweights (that I know of) and TNA only has like one or two (Abyss and maybe Tomko).  Still, he never seems to have a problem with power.

The guy also has that "it" factor, that certain something that just shouts "I'M A FUCKING CHAMPION".  That indescribable something.  The thing that separates champions who are just good in the ring like Dean Malenko from the Ric Flairs and Antonio Inokis of the industry.

Good look, superb ring work . . . His only weakness is his mic work, though some like his style and I could really care less anyway.  Anyway, that's my way of explaining it, though I'm not that great with words.  Hope that helps.

In the past years, Joe has put on Five-stars matches with CM Punk, Kenta Kobashi and Styles/Daniels. The above-mentioned have not put on any 5-star matches with anyone else but Joe. To me, this clearly points out that Joe is the deciding factor.

So.. yeah..

I'd reccomend that you check out some of Joe's ROH work to help convince you he's good.

To me, he's kind of a bigger version of Tazz. That is, he's a legit tough guy. His moves are crisp and have a good follow-through and he helps suspend disbelief by really making it look like he's really beating up his opponent.

You know that Jakked clip of him that was posted? Look at how ridiculous and unbelievable Essa Rios' offense is. Rios is sloppy, takes way too long between moves... It looks obviously choreographed.  Compare it to Joe's lightning quick belly-to-belly overhead suplex, followed by stomping.  Joe knows how to execute moves properly and tell an overall story while doing it.
