Impact to be 2 hours?

Within TNA, the belief is that Impact will expand to two hours "sooner than you think." Spike officials, when contacted, denied that there was anything in the works aside from a potential two-hour special.

If TNA can maintain its ratings the next few weeks without the UFC lead-in, that would be a major feather in their cap because it would show that they could run on a night without UFC. If TNA goes two hours, it would have to be on a new night because Spike can't break up the synergy between Ultimate Fighter and Unleashed.

At this point, there are no plans in place, but it is something being talked about. Though, if it does happen, it would occur a few months from now at the earliest.

Maybe they'll move it to Monday night at, oh, 9E/8C ;->

It'd be funny if that actually improved ratings, and I could see it happening.  They need two hours like no one's business.

Impact makes pretty good use out of the hour they are given. But just imagine if they had an extra hour for more matches and storyline developments? Awesome. I think they deserve it.

I say move the show up against ECW on Sci Fi. It'll force Vince to move away from sports entertainment hardcore to hardcore the old ECW style.

no it won't force a change in WWE.  right now TNA is a mere blip on the radar, garnering ratings that only WWE's Heat and Velocity used to earn.  Even AM Raw at 1am on Saturday nights gets a better rating.
TiLoBrownPosted on 07/23/06 at 17:14:32

More people could be watching TNA (I doubt it) than WWE but we'll never know since not everyone has a box. As for AM Raw pulling in better numbers I hope thats because USA is on more carriers than Spike which is why I think WWE's ratings dipped during the change. Who knows....regardless I wish ratings were just overhauled majorly
Rick GarrardPosted on 07/24/06 at 01:57:33

it's because it's the only show at that time of night on cable TV that isn't an infomercial.  ;)

and btw, why do you still have the TNMWA in your sigfile when it's been dead for almost a year?
HugeRockStar760Posted on 07/24/06 at 02:54:58

I've never participated in TNMWA, but there always seems to be periods of time when interest starts back up and starts again.

Shhhh.....its because I'm too lazy to take it out....and I was the best Champion there ever was! :)

What is this "box" you speak of?  I've heard it mentioned in the past, but I never knew what the hell it was.  Is it merely a cable box, or is it a box that is designed to....I dunno.  What the hell is it?  Is it something that I would know if I had, or is it just a random thing inside one of my cable boxes/DVRs?

I'm pretty sure that although they won't admit it, DirecTV and Dish Network both have the "call home" feature in their boxes why else would you need to always have a connection to a phone line?  They claim it's for PPV purchases, but what about those that demand that they have no PPV capabilities, yet they still have to have a line hooked to the phone line too.  And although they can't track individuals, they can amass viewing data.  I know TiVo has it in all of their DVRs as well.

The box that TiLo speaks of is one that is "assigned" to your home by Nielsen ratings company.  I have always been a believer that pretty much ANY box that comes from the cable company can track your viewing habits, even though they would have you believe otherwise.

On an unrelated note, is your living room covered in tin foil? ;)

why would it need to be when I am wearing a tin foil hat?  :P

Tonight's TNA Impact was one of the most fast paced episodes in some time. What stood out to me was the fact there was something happening for at least 18 minutes without a commercial. No long winded, boring attempts at humor. No 20 minute diatribes by Mr. McMahon. Just a mix of matches, interviews, and an impromptu fight between Brother Runt and Abyss. Fun all around.

Give TNA two hours, and I bet the show gets even better. Why? They seem to know how to book one hour much better than ECW so far. Imagine a second hour?

No 20 minute diatribes by Mr. McMahon.
Well, d'uuuuuuuuuuh.  Vince doesn't own TNA, yet.

Well I meant authority figures in general. I'm pretty sure eventually Vince will attempt to buy TNA.

Vince McMahon, Vince Russo... Same difference ;->
