Strangest thing ever...

OK, so I just deleted my entire database and then installed all the exports I wanted all over again. I then scheduled a new card, and one bug came up that I have never encountered or heard about before. In fact, I am in the middle of the card so there may be more.. but after 4 matches.. here are the bugs..

NigelMcGuinness is practically Raven.. I mean.. all of a sudden Nigel is from the Bowery, juicing, holding his arms out and finishing off people with the Raven Effect. But he still has his own music and his managed by Tina Ambrose McGuinness..

Now what is even worse... Eddie Guerrero is suddenly 285 lbs and from Atlanta, Georgia.. ring any bell?? well.. one of the first moves he did was a Jackhammer..

I mean, this looks like the problem reported here earlier by Justin (I think), but he had booked the card prior to deletion and importion (that's not a word, is it?). Not so in this case.. man this is really bumming me off.. what's next? Samoa Joe with Stacy Keibler's moveset??

EDIT: Well.. Samoa Joe didn't end up with Keibler's moveset, but he did end up as Scoot Andrews in the intro.. but not in the match itself.. damnit..

Try creating a new circuit.  Does the problem also occur there?

If not, the problem may be related to the fact that you deleted your entire database and didn't reinstall the wrestlers in the same order.  I believe that your wrestlers have a number assigned to them that isn't actually displayed, but is used by the program to identify which they are.  If all of these numbers are suddenly different, your existing circuit (which still presmably points to the old numbers) would probably think that the wrestlers you use are actually the ones their numbers point to with changed names.

You MIGHT be able to correct the problem by deleting your circdb.dat file, but you'd lose any changed pushes, your wrestler's heat scores, etc, plus you'd have to rehire everyone.  If you write it all down first, you could probably reconstruct it with Tweakcirc in a half hour or so.

It'd probably be best to wait for Oliver's advice before doing so, though.

Hmm... yes I know about the numbers.. but... when you delete your entire database.. you also has to rehire all your wrestlers in your circuits, change heat and push and so forth. So I don't really see what those numbers look back to? In addition, I had a match with two mystery opponents... B-Boy and Scoot Andrews.. where Andrews was billed out of Yokohama, Japan... and he wasn't even in my original circuit.

And if the numbers pointed to someone else.. why would Nigel McGuinness (with Raven's ruleset), still be managed by Tina McGuinness?

I will try creating a new circuit though...

But yeah, it probably has to do with the deletion and installing, just didn't think that it cause all that trouble as long as I didn't have a pre-scheduled card.

I didn't think it could either.  Did you actually have to rehire everyone, etc.?

Perhaps, in the future, if you are going to create a new database it'd be easier to create a second TNM install to avoid disrupting any circuits in progress?

I agree with Eric on the installing multiple copies of TNM thought.  That's how I can have one with an old school roster and one with a modern day roster and not have to worry about the 'm' taking advantage of it.

Yeah, you have to rehire everyone...

The reason why I didn't want to install TNM in another location is because I have  assigned theme music to a lot of wrestlers using Theme Music Wizard and didn't want to do it all over again. I guess the solution is to create a new circuit and just use TweakCirc to get the heat levels and # of cards left on conctract as it was.

If the theme music wizard creates a file like the Special Move Wizard and Crowd Chant Editor do, you could just copy it to the new TNM.

I didn't think of that possibility, thanks!

I was actually having this problem recently in NWJ with Alex Shelley...hence his "going back to the US" the sim thought that he was Nick Gage for some reason...I fixed it in a very ghetto way...I deleted my circdb.dat or whatever it was that held my wrestlers with their pushes and contracts (I don't remember the exact name of the file...) then I started a new curcuit, copied the circdb.dat file from that curcuit into the NWJ folder and re-hired everyone...told you it was ghetto...and I don't recommend this as it may fuck up your curcuit permanently.
rey619Posted on 03/04/05 at 10:57:17

Any idea what caused Shelley to become Gage? Did you delete huge parts of the database or something?
CarlzillaPosted on 03/04/05 at 10:58:57

I was moving my curcuit folder between two computers (work and home) without moving the rest of TNM...I imported a guy on one, forgot about it, then moved the folder to the other computer which messed up the numbers in the circdb.dat file and cause it to switch the guys around.
rey619Posted on 03/04/05 at 13:27:39

I now created a new circuit in the same TNM folder.. nothing weird happened.. so the lesson must be... don't delete wrestlers from the database if they are in your circuit.. or maybe avoid deleting the entire databse anyhow..

Well, I better start re-creating my circuit ;)
Oliver CoppPosted on 03/22/05 at 15:33:11

Actually, what happened to you never should have happened *g*

If something like this happens, delete the file CIRCDB.DAT in your circuit's folder, restart TNM and you'll be fine.
