NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood

Not sure how many of you read about this but the NWA is going back to the future with this show/promotion. They're going back to how Jim Crockett Promotions used a studio for their main show on TBS.

Here's some pictures from the tapings this past weekend:

The set looks really close to what NWA World Championship Wrestling did. There's even no barricades!

And you know that the head promoter/announcer Dave Marquez is the guy that is at the podium in the shots shown.  He is almost a Gordon Solie sound alike as well.

Nothing wrong with a throwback show.  Just kinda odd that ROH hired his World champ in Adam Pearce away just when they are starting their own TV program.

Good luck to them as this could be real interesting.  And if Batista is any proof from this Monday's RAW, post match interviews can tell just how in condition a guy is or not (as was Batista).

I've been wanting something like this for awhile. And it makes sense to promote from Southern California as that's where most of the NWA's active promotions are.

Sometimes less is more.

And I think Adam Pearce is still going to work ROH. In fact, I read that Pearce is also on the booking team for NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, in addition to his ROH duties as booker.

I think Dave Marquez should've done the play by play and the post match interviews. I heard they have someone else doing that.

it sure looks like Marquez at the podium in the pictures. Perhaps they have added someone else to the announce team with him?

edit:
Hopefully it's not Big Vision's guy Kris Kloss, cause he merely is inadequate from time to time when he screams like a little girl with his announcing.

Here's an excerpt from a match report from SoCal Uncensored's wrestling board:

"Notes: The first night of the taping drew an estimated 150-200 fans for the free event....Commentary was handled by Tom Kenely (the ring announcer on Celebrity Championship Wrestling) and former Southern California indy wrestler Phil Lander....Dave Marquez handled post-match interviews....I was told the set for the show looks really good and if you grew up on the studio wrestling days of WTBS, you'll easily know the inspiration for the look and style of the show, right down to no barricades between the ring and the crowd."

Maybe the WWE will release John Morrison. I think he'd be perfect for a Ric Flair like role.

I'm buddies with Nick Jackson from the Young Bucks and he said the vibe at the shows was really cool.  So at least it was fun live?

Can't wait to see how the show looks on TV.  Just wish I didn't have to wait for it to hit the NWA website to see it, since they update so sporadically.
