A curiosity in Database Cleaner (poss bug)

A_Man_Called_MikeyPosted on 02/16/05 at 22:54:51

I wanted Database Cleaner to delete all redundant tag teams but it gives me ones with guys that are in TNM, some who are active in my tag league circuit.

Are there tag team partners someone who isn't in your TNM database?  For example, do you have someone like Marty Jannetty but don't have 1-2-3 Kid?
A_Man_Called_MikeyPosted on 02/17/05 at 00:17:58

Yeah, those are the tag teams I want to dump and assume it would dump.   However, it also gives me the option to delete teams where both guys are in TNM.
Snabbit888Posted on 02/17/05 at 00:29:04

Are both guys in TNM but under different gimmicks?
A_Man_Called_MikeyPosted on 02/18/05 at 15:45:50

No, it's more like this.

I have Rick Steiner, I have Scott Steiner.   I have them in circuits as a tag team and they are on the deletion list.   Whether they are under a different gimmick, shouldn't matter.

Oliver told me that the database cleaner lists _all_ tag-teams and stables, not just redundant ones.

Perhaps for the next version--if there is even going to be one--Oliver can make it so that it doesn't list tag teams/stables imported into a circuit? I know a lot of people probably just use the global database rather than import all the teams/stables they want to use, but this could be a workaround.

Isn't it rather pointless to have a database cleaner that deletes unused moves but doesn't offer to delete unused tag teams?
Snabbit888Posted on 02/21/05 at 02:10:49

Unused tag teams is different because you could easily rename a wrestler in one circuit and that tag team is still relevant.  You can't assign moves to wrestlers on a circuit-specific level but you can do that with tag teams (for instance, you have X-Pac in one circuit, 1-2-3 Kid in another).  And it lets you delete multiple tag teams faster, so I don't see how it's useless.
A_Man_Called_MikeyPosted on 02/21/05 at 13:33:35

What I mean is that if you can delete all the tag teams in Database Cleaner, what makes that any different to TNM itself.   The Database Cleaner is designed to do "clean up the database" in ways that TNM itself can't.   However, this does exactly what TNM does, thus it is a redundant feature.
Snabbit888Posted on 02/21/05 at 15:44:19

No it isn't.  Database cleaner lets you delete multiple tag teams at a time, whereas through TNM itself you can only delete them one by one.
Oliver CoppPosted on 03/22/05 at 15:22:42

Snabbit is right on the money. The tag team and stable feature is primarly there to give you a way of mass-deleting tag teams and stables, something which is cumbersome with the ControlCenter.

I could modify the program to only offer unused teams and/or stables.
