ECW's Triple Threat

pszPosted on 07/29/07 at 23:54:20

I just went down the list of members:

Shane Douglas
Chris Benoit  *
Dean Malenko
Brian Lee
Bam Bam Bigelow *
Chris Candido *
Lance Storm

So.... Three dead, the rest (semi) retired.

Pretty bleak for the biggest stable of the third biggest company of the 90s.

I was wondering about something similar today actually - what's the biggest wrestling group/stable/whatever in terms of number of members where they are all still alive. So far I've got the Midnight Express (if you count literally everyone then you've got Condrey, Rose, Austin, Eaton, Lane, Gunn, Holly, Cornette and Heyman which makes nine).

What about the nWo? Wasn't that half the WCW roster at one point? Surely they can't ALL be dead.

How about every single member of Raven's Nest, from ECW? Not all of them are dead, either.

Norvell Austin reference for the win. I was sad when he was not part of Paul E's Original Midnight Express in WCW. Maybe he was retired by then.
Rick GarrardPosted on 08/03/07 at 02:39:36

Nah... WCW would have had to bring in Koko Ware to feud with Norvell.  :P

Of course, the OTHER "Stable Of Doom" would be the Hart Foundation:

Bret: Career ending injury
Owen: Dead
Pillman: Dead
Davey Boy: Dead
Jim: Semi-Retired baby! HAHAHAHA! Ahem *strokes goatee*
(Honourable Mentions By Association being Dynamite: Wheelchair and Benoit: Dead)

suicidalbynaturePosted on 08/03/07 at 05:31:27

You mean "Benoit: Murdered"
CrplsPosted on 08/03/07 at 06:58:18

I hope you are joking...
suicidalbynaturePosted on 08/03/07 at 07:27:36

Kevin Sullivan did it. The evidence is all there. We've already been enlightened about it.

I dunno, Umagas face turn might be responsible.

He was - although he had still been on the independents a few years earlier, he would have gotten on a fair bit by then.

I think you misunderstood - I was looking for stables where everyone was still alive. Obviously the nWo is out (Hennig, Rude, Traylor, Elizabeth, does Spicolli count too?).  The ECW Nest is out too (Pitbull Durante) but the FLOCK on the other hand... they're all still alive, and I make that a combination of Raven, Kidman, Saturn, Riggs, Horace, Van Hammer, Lodi, Sick Boy, Kanyon, Reese and Richards for eleven, and the win.
CrplsPosted on 08/04/07 at 08:09:41

Hmm, for some reason I thought Reese/The Yeti died. But maybe not.
pszPosted on 08/04/07 at 15:41:54

Nope, he's still alive apparently.

I'd say the FBI would be most All Alive group, at 12:

Salvatore Bellomo
"The Big Don" Tommy Rich
"The Main Man" Tracy Smothers
Little Guido Maritato
Davey Piezono
Mabel
"The Italian Stallion" J.T. Smith
Sal E. Graziano
Big Guido
Tony Mamaluke
Ulf Herman
One Man Gang
Rick GarrardPosted on 08/04/07 at 22:44:39

that group could also qualify for the most liver damaged from alcohol imbibing after shows.  Just on Tommy Rich and Tracy Smothers alone.
