¡mpact begins airing on Thursdays on Spike TV beginning tonight with the in ring return of The Mime Called Sting.

Holy Shit...Don West sucks as an announcer.  :-/

Daniels v Joe was pretty damn good aside from the fact that it was 'in progress', so we missed the first few minutes. That and Samoa Joe looks like he is the love child of John Belushi and Fat Elvis.

Street Fight... With tagging rules? And a no contest finish? Weak.. Cool seeing Spike Dudley, though. Wish I could say I was wondering what he was up to, but I wasn't.

Sting beat Eric Young to no great surprise, and I feel dirty for getting hyped up for a squash match.
Rick GarrardPosted on 04/15/06 at 00:57:56

I was so hyped for it, that I forgot that it was on, even though I was the one that started the topic.  The Mime Called Sting apparently can still beat jobbers on TV just like he always did in his Beach Sting days in WCW and even when he was the NWA World Champ so many years ago.
AnubisPosted on 04/15/06 at 01:19:35

To be fair, Eric Young isn't really a jobber.  Lower part of the card certainly, but not a jobber.  Also, to be fair, the match wasn't half bad for what it was.  Young is entertaining, and both Young and Sting are still good in the ring as well, so the match itself was decent.  Yeah, it was a bit of a let-down after the two preceeding matches, but there aren't many people that can follow up Christoher Daniels and Samoa Joe anyway, so you gotta do whatever.

All in all, that Impact was the best episode of Impact yet.  No jobber squashes (Sting and Young went for probably six minutes or so) and as much content as can be packed inside the 35 or so minutes Impact gets (since there are like 25 minutes of commericals, which pisses me off to no end).  They really need to find a way to cut back the commercials, because in this case, the commercials are killing the product by sticking interruptions all over the place and in the middle of every fucking match, which is not cool).
UnrightPosted on 04/15/06 at 03:42:22

Oh yeah.. I didn't mean to imply that Eric Young was a jobber... I usually consider any match where the winner is incredibly obvious to be a jobber match. I think I would die from shock if Eric Young cleanly pinned Sting in Sting's "return to TV after 5 years" match.
colmatteusPosted on 04/15/06 at 16:45:35

More like a squash match than a jobber match, but I see where you're coming from definitely. The outcome was never in doubt, although I really would have loved to see Young go over... if only for the hell of it ::)
AnubisPosted on 04/16/06 at 08:52:18

I'm not sure if this is official or not, or if it was just declared as such by me, but technically speaking, a "squash" is a match that ends in under a minute.  Matt Hardy's match against The Road Warrior, that was a squash.  Sting's match with Eric Young went a good six or so minutes, and it wasn't one-sided by any means, so I think it's safe to say it couldn't be considered a squash.

Obvious?  Hell yeah.  Definitely obvious.  Of course I also thought it was equally obvious that Triple H would beat John Cena at WrestleMania, so I would venture to say nothing is certain.  Or did you not thinki it to be possible that Jeff Jarrett could have come down and screwed Sting over, costing him the match? ;) Gotta think about stuff like that. ;D

Any which way, yes, I'm anal, and overly detailed in explanations, so yeah.
rey619Posted on 04/16/06 at 14:40:55

Eric Young is without a doubt the most entertaining out of all the Canadians.. even though he never wins.
TiLoBrownPosted on 04/16/06 at 16:17:47

It was a squash. Its that simple. Everyone knew Sting would either win or get screwed. No way he would have lost clean. Squash.

As for HHH. Almost everyone always thinks HHH is going to win ever title match hes in, then again almost everyone is stupid.
UnrightPosted on 04/16/06 at 18:49:58

yeah.. I guess a squash match is anything short and one-sided and a jobber match is one where the person doing the J-O-B is pretty obvious from the get-go. Squash matches are also Jobber matches, but of a paticular type.

And I refuse to believe a wrestler of Jeff Jarrett's intergrity and character would lower himself to purposefully attempting to cost another wrestler a match in a fair contest. Nope. Never.  ::)
HugeRockStar760Posted on 04/17/06 at 07:01:26

Eric Young reminds me of Chris Candido. I guess it's the blonde hair.

Not to go off topic, but speaking of Chris Candido, does anyone know if Tammy is actually getting herself back into "Sunny shape" as she keeps talking about in interviews about returning to the WWE? The WWE definitely could use some Sunny days again. (Although, Melina is definitely doing an admirable job in the same role, but with better results as far as tag team championships and victories are concerned).
colmatteusPosted on 04/20/06 at 16:09:26

And her ring entrance... let's not ever (EEEEVER) forget that ring entrance. ::)
Rick GarrardPosted on 04/21/06 at 04:49:01

Melina's ring entrance is better, but Sunny had the better music... because we all wanted her.
pszPosted on 04/21/06 at 14:01:50

I wanted Sunny, too...... To get a nose job. Otherwise, Candido had it good.
HugeRockStar760Posted on 04/22/06 at 04:53:47

So the question remains, does anyone know what Tammy looks like currently? Yes, shallow, but it would be great to see her back in the WWE. And it would be nice to show others that they can turn their life around and get off drugs and become healthy again.
pszPosted on 04/22/06 at 05:02:22

Judging by last year's ECW shows, she still looks damn nice (nose regardless ;->)
AnubisPosted on 04/22/06 at 05:19:12

Tammy is HAWT.  So is Dawn Marie (she knows how to go easy on the breast implants, at least).  While I'm at it, so are Dana Dameson, Sarah Stock, and Jaime Koeppe.  So are . . .

Ah, fuck it, the list is too long.
