Victor Quiñones (IWA Puerto Rico owner/promoter) was found dead earlier today. No details are available, only that traces of blood were found.

That's too bad.  Any idea on who will take over now?

Quinones dying is far from "too bad."
Critic of the DawnPosted on 04/04/06 at 05:13:17

Jeez Crpls, do you like any wrestling promoters/bookers? ;D

Quinones raped young wrestlers at knife point. That's just one thing.

I don't hate Gabe, for the record. (Although I could see why saying "Fuck you, Gabe" would point to that conclusion...)
Psymin1Posted on 04/04/06 at 05:26:27

meh, I don't anything about the guy.  But, if that is true, than, I guess it isn't too much of a loss.

To kind of get an idea of, well, maybe not him because I don't think the stories can be proven, but at least of what his reputation was, there's a story of David Flair going down to work for him down in Puerto Rico.  Wherever Flair was staying, he was said to have woke up in the middle of the ngiht with ol' Victor masturbating with the intention of giving him a money shot (and we're not talking Val Venis here).  Whether that's true or not, who knows, but there are enough stories like that about him that SOMETHING has to be true.

Maybe one of the wrestlers finally decided that enough was enough...
Rick GarrardPosted on 04/05/06 at 02:40:46

where was Invader #1 when this happened?  you know the guy that stabbed Bruiser Brody in the shower.
Rick GarrardPosted on 04/05/06 at 02:41:59

and chances are that the IWA PR will either fold or Shane the Fallen Angel or Savio Vega will take over.
JustinPosted on 04/06/06 at 18:49:49

His death was apparently caused to a mix of alcohol and some kind of pills and or a heart attack. Murder or any kind of criminal hand at the scene were descarted.
TheImpalerTMXPosted on 04/08/06 at 07:53:05

As far as the list of sleezy promoters go, Victor without a doubt was in the Top 3. I don't doubt the accurarcy of many of the stories that have floated around about him. I never wish death upon somebody because he was probably decent to SOME people in the world, but I can't say he'll be missed at all.

And the whole Invader/Brody thing has nothing to do with Quinones, FYI. That happened under Colon's watch in WWC.

I find it funny that about the only positive obituary I've seen written about him over the past few days came from everybody's favorite alleged pedophile. Names needn't be spoken here...
AllPowerfulGARTHPosted on 04/08/06 at 19:45:05

And people say Vince McMahon is sleazy...

Yeah, I've never wished him death, but like I said, it's not a huge loss to the world.

There are tons of wrestlers who are upset by his death and rightfully so, I suppose. Despite being a piece of shit, he did help a lot of guys in the business and is probably pretty popular in the country.

I've seen some people bring up that he might've helped cover up the Brody stabbing, but yeah, he had already left to create IWA.
Rick GarrardPosted on 04/09/06 at 03:19:31

Yes he had already left WWC prior to the Brody stabbing.

And Quinones was also a WWF/E go between between guys in Puerto Rico and the WWF/E.  In fact, IWA-PR was at one time one of the "unspoken" WWE feeder feds much like Rick Bassman's UPW has been for a number of years and like Les Thatcher's HWA was before WWE joined with Nightmare Danny Davis' school to form OVW.

As far as sleazy goes, he's no Antonio Pena from Mexico.  He's gotta be the top sleazeball promoter as far as the big time promoters go.
TheImpalerTMXPosted on 04/09/06 at 05:08:05

Eh, I find Pena to be slightly less sleazy. There is nothing that he had done that Quinones never did - in fact, there are probably quite a few promoters whose practices mirror Pena in the world as far as the lengths one has to go to in order to get a job. Then again, maybe I just haven't heard enough stories...

(No, that's not an indication to start telling Antonio Pena stories either).

While Victor has tons of skeletons in the closet he did help with talent exchange with FMW bringing in Taka, Funaki, Super Crazy, Tajiri to the fed along with Shawn Michael being brought in as special guest referee between Hayabusa and Mr. Gannosuke match. It also help sent Michaels' Academy students at the time Lance Cade, American Dragon, and Spanky for few tours of FMW. He help to bring Kanemura to SMW and Kanemura appreciated him along first trip to Toy R Us in the states and Dominican Republic.

His booking in FMW along with Go Ito and Goemon (FMW/W*ING vs Funk Masters of Wrestling) help fill up Kawasaki Stadium blood-thirsty entertaining as hell garbage matches.
