MTV Back into wrestling...

All the cool kids are doing it.

Any thoughts?

I gather nothing is permanent yet, just the fact that they are shooting a pilot.  They claim it will be nothing like WWE or TNA.

Unless they have people from the wrestling business to write it or at least help write it I'll have my doubts.  If they have people who know what they're doing in there it could be a nice third alternative, though I'd still have my doubts about how big it'd get.

I heard they're planning to make it a reality/sports/wrestling hybrid that will not be in competition with any standard wrestling promotions whatsoever.  It doesn't sound all that promising.

MTV will be producing and filming a pilot for a new wrestling promotion next month. Not much is known except that the show will be taped in Los Angeles and California's Big Vision Entertainment (distributors of the Hardcore Homecoming DVD) will be involved.

As reported yesterday, MTV and Big Vision Entertainment will be taping a wrestling pilot on 2/9 in Los Angeles. Some wrestlers that will work the show include Vampiro, Sean Waltman, P.J. Polaco (Justin Credible), New Jack, Jack Evans, and Matt Sydal.

The promotion is currently looking for an announcer that they want to be "hip" and have the "MTV style."

The product will be fused with MTV and feature music. The wrestling and angles will apparently be reality based. MTV claims the product will be completely different than WWE or TNA.

Eh.. The problem with the fed is that I wouldn't get attached to it. MTV isn't known for longevity. Give it about a year or two and then it'll die.

Of course, if it gets more people to get interested in wrestling, it's a good thing, right?
