Barbed wire massacre

Are barbed wire matches allowed again?
americamamushiPosted on 11/27/05 at 21:29:03

when weren't they allowed?

They weren't/aren't allowed in Pennsylvania because of CZW's shenanigans, I believe.  WWE was only allowed to do the barbed wire cage match with JBL and Big Show in February because they really didn't use the barbed wire.

I think Pennsylvania still allows worked barbedwire
rey619Posted on 11/29/05 at 08:47:06

I thought they were banned pretty much everywhere BUT Pennsylvania.. I need to get my head checked someday.. so.. anyone think this will be an actual barbed-wire match? Or just another hoax?

If Abyss bumped tacs (which I believe were legit tacs) I'm inclined to believe he'd bump barbedwire, legit or worked.

... if that's what you mean

Yeah, I've noticed that they are knocking WWE for "fake advertising", and am curious to see if this will really be a full-fledged barbed wire match. And... maybe I'm a little green to the world of barbed-wire matches.. but how can you "work" a barbed-wire match? By having non-sharp barbs?
americamamushiPosted on 11/29/05 at 15:10:14

yeah, worked barbedwire has the points either coated with something to dull them (like a platic, rubber, whatever) or are filed down.

I think it was at the first Hardcore Homecoming show in Penn state that the athletics commission wanted Funk, Sabu & Shane (or whoever it was) to use the worked barbedwire in their barbedwire main event match.  I'm pretty sure they either convinced them to let them use legit or they just snuck legit in.  I think it was the first, I'm pretty sure they didn't end up using worked anyway.

Abyss was a hardcore monster in IWA-PR.  His work in TNA is rather dreadful since he was "Americanized" by first Dutch Mantell and then Dusty Rhodes at TNA, when in fact his "Monster" character in IWA was really just a badass ripoff of the masked Kane.  And yes he will probably do a real barbed wire match as if not mistaken he has probably been in one down on the island in the past.
