TNA Video Game on the horizon?

americamamushiPosted on 10/21/05 at 05:02:53

With the superior exposure that TNA will be getting on SpikeTV, how long until a TNA video game comes out?  I imagine they'll wait till the next round of systems are all released, but I'd be surprised if a video game wasn't announced by next summer.  Also, how good would a TNA game be?  There haven't exactly been a lot of great non-WWE wrestling games here in the US.  Heck, other than on PS2 there haven't been a lot of good WWE games.  With the results of the Legends of Wrestling series, the old ECW games, WCW games, ect. How much hope is anyone holding out for a TNA game?

Personally, I think getting Spike (the game company that is) to build a TNA game off of the King of Colosseum engine would be cool, though they'd have to tweak bits of the gameplay to be more friendly with the higher pace of action that TNA has.

Discuss.

I don't why anyone would bother with making a wrestling game nowadays.  Most wrestling "action" consists of guys cutting 15 minute promos that lead to 3 minute matches.

And I know TNA unfortunately and unintentionally exposes itself to this moreso because of the running clock on the screen during their matches.  I'd be really shocked if a TNA game wouldn't just be a copy of some Mexican AAA video game since they already would probably have a game featuring the 6-sided ring.  (this is just a guess on my part)

They have lucha games??!
Rick GarrardPosted on 10/21/05 at 14:45:04

I dunno, but if they do, AAA would be the one to copy since reprogramming for 6 sided ring physics would already have been done.  it's not just your normal x/y axises involved with 6 sided ring physics, which could prove to be the problem with making such a game for TNA.

And here I still play Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium Edition... Gotta love the SNES

So Midway will be making the TNA game.  Anyone have any thoughts on whether it'll be good or not?  I'll feel kinda bad if Midway makes a lack luster title for them since they were holding out for what they felt was a great deal.

It's also interesting to point out that The Rock will is involved with Midway games and he will be appearing (along with TNA stars) on SpikeTV's video games awards.  Conspiracy theories start.... wait for it... wait for it... now. ;)
Rick GarrardPosted on 11/08/05 at 01:23:35

to quote the next generation of wrestling fans:

"Who is the Rock?"
PulsarPosted on 11/08/05 at 03:47:59

Ahem, he's the Scorpion King
AnubisPosted on 11/08/05 at 10:08:04

Well, the Rock now owns the copyright to his name.

IF he and Vince have a falling out

AND

IF he decides to start wrestling again

THEN it would be interesting to see Jeff Jarrett piss his pants on national television when the Rock shows up in TNA, asks who he is, calls him a jabronie, and proceeds to beat his ass into the ground.
Rick GarrardPosted on 11/15/05 at 02:24:26

And in doing so, the belt draggin', eye brow raisin', turn my back on rasslin' so I can go act better than Hogan, Rock would further devalue the NWA title in beating the 78 1/2 time NWA Champion Jeff Jarrett.

;)  But seeing Jarrett do the Vinny Mac "piss my pants" thing would be funny.
