American Dragon quitting?

H8-SuperstarPosted on 05/16/05 at 09:32:10

Rumors swirling around when he left ROH and mistreated at NJPW. Said to burned out.

This is an absolutely terrible turn of affairs if it is true.  American Dragon is probably one of the top 5 workers in North America at the moment and by far the most consistantly impressive in ROH.  I'm hoping and praying that this is a work, but I'm getting the distinct impression that it isn't.  I personally think that Danielson leaving the business would be a mistake.  He's one of the top names on the indy scene at the moment, and while NJPW is apparently dicking him (and Samoa Joe, AND ROH in general - see Best of the American Super Juniors and the fact that Dragon Soldier B/Kendo Ka Shin is nowhere to be found in their annual BOTSJ tournament) around at the moment, I have a hunch that in another 2-3 years he's going to end up with WWE.  If he doesn't leave wrestling, that is.

If Danielson really thinks that doing so would be the best thing for him, then obviously he should go with it.  But I'm going to miss the hell out of him.

I say good for him if it's really what he feels like doing. Mike Johnson and Jess McGrath on PWInsider.com talked about Rico in one of their recent hotlines, and about how instead of sticking around in the business he's just finding another job and moving on with his life. If Dragon really does feel like there is no real future for him wrestling, then it is best he gets out now while still young and doesn't end up doing something that requires 100% passion and commitment just to scrape together a few bucks.

This is one of those moments where folks that don't follow the indy scene ask, "who?"

Of course, one would think that with Mike Tenay now on the WWE style booking committee at TNA since Dusty was given the boot as the sole booker, that Danielson would be given a chance to work there if he wanted to.

AmDrag was trained by Shawn Michaels and Rudy Boy Gonzalez along with Michael Shane, Spanky, Paul London, Garrison Cade, and quite a few other wrestlers that have attracted some major attention despite their young age.  Michael Shane was a major part of ROH before moving mainly to TNA, Spanky was one of ROH's first big names before heading to WWE and then Japan, Paul London was the first real breakout star at ROH and eventually caught the eye of WWE, Garrison Cade... is just kind of there, but since he's tall WWE hired him.

"The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson essentially put Ring of Honor on the map along with Low Ki and Christopher Daniels by consistently wrestling amazing matches from their first show on.  A year or so back, NJPW hailed him as the latest wrestler in the vein of Dynamite Kid, Bret Hart and Chris Benoit.  And Benoit himself has reportedly said that what he's seen of American Dragon is extremely impressive.  So if he permanantly leaves the wrestling business, it'll be a great loss.

Another Michaels and Gonzalez trained wrestler Simply Luscious (woman wrestler) wrestles at bimbos and strippers fed WEW.
Rick GarrardPosted on 05/17/05 at 15:12:17

Ray, have you ever actually watched an episode of WEW?

call it a bimbos and strippers fed all you want, but it is still a better wrestling product than the current WWE women's division situation.
Critic of the DawnPosted on 05/17/05 at 17:16:52

Yes, but my (female) cat and my (female) dog batting at each other is a better wrestling product than WWE's current Women's division situation also.

Yeah, the WEW isn't that bad.. true, most of the workers are there for looks and not skills, but there are also several female indy wrestlers who wrestle there, simply because no other circuit takes female wrestling seriously.

Try watching Tai "Killer" Weed vs Pussy Willow. Talk about very bad match. All right they do have Laree, Luscious, Lady Storm, Amy Lee, and few others than can wrestle. Most are usually that bad.
