FSN SUCKS! (About NWA-TNA)

AnubisPosted on 07/17/04 at 04:02:40

Well, twice now Impact has been cancelled for a stupid Cubs game on FSN Chicago.  I'm sick of Fox always ignoring the viewers.  I'm positive people would rather see Impact than a baseball game that THEY END UP SHOWING AGAIN HOURS LATER.

I tried to send a comment, but their server is mysteriously down.  (This crap shows how little Fox cares about viewers.)

Here is what I had to say to those assholes:

"I am a fan of NWA-TNA Impact, and am quite aggravated that it has gotten replaced basically every other week with stupid baseball.  The worst part is that the very same game that was shown in place of Impact WAS REPLAYED LATER THAT EVENING.  This is, frankly, stupid.  Show the the baseball ONCE; people don't wanna see it twice, once in place of Impact.

Are you already trying to kill Impact?  This is a perfect way to do it.  Stop holding down Impact and show it every week during its regular slot.  That or find it its own slot.  Stop putting crap on in its place.  I'm certain those wanting to watch the baseball are a small minority of your overall viewers."

Anyway, I just needed to vent.  I only wish someone there would have brains enough to listen to a wise suggestion from me.  They cancelled Harsh Realm, they cancelled Dark Angel, and now they're trying to kill NWA-TNA.  I wouldn't be surprised if VinnyMac had a hand in this as he did with ECW's problems with TNN.  I could run Fox better IN MY SLEEP.

I hate Fox, I hate FSN, and I most definitely hate Vince McMahon.

Even if they put Impact on after the game it would not be so bad, but they go out and fucking cancel it alotgether, that sucks! I've never been a fan of FOX anyway, except for The Simpsons

TNA getting the boot from DirecTV was the beginning of the end for them.  And calling MLB and the Cubs crap is pretty darned funny.  MLB has been and will be around a LOT longer than TNA will be at the rate they are going with the inability to draw new viewers combined with the fact that their experiment to Universal Orlando is doing about as well as RollerJam.
Owen Hart RIPPosted on 07/17/04 at 07:23:07

ROH is much better than TNA anyway, except for AJ Styles, he rocks
xsouporheroxPosted on 07/17/04 at 07:35:46

Hey, I liked RollerJam.

Major League Baseball will always win out over wrestling, plain and simple.  They're not going to show a Cubs game on tape delay so that a fringe fan base can watch an experimental show.  It's just never gonna happen.  It would be nice if they would show Impact after the game at least, but baseball is the better draw, so it shouldn't be a surprise.
AnubisPosted on 07/18/04 at 04:27:02

That would be acceptable.  My POINT is that they showed the baseball twice and cancelled Impact.  Although one showing of the baseball would draw good, I highly doubt the second showing would do as well as Impact ratings-wise.  That or vice-versa.  Either way, although one would get better ratings, I doubt the other would.

My point is that they should have, say, shown Impact instead of the second showing, or maybe cut the second showing out enough (to show only the good parts) while showing Impact in the other hour.  Anything to show it.
Rick GarrardPosted on 07/18/04 at 04:57:23

you just don't get it... FSN isn't about ratings except in prime time.  By putting TNA on at 3pm on Fridays, they are pretty much saying that TNA is really not worth much more than the paid programming that airs on most of your regional FSN channels throughout the day.

And you'd be surprised, but the Cubs have the largest, loyal base of fans of any of the MLB teams.  And they show the replay for those folks that have to work during the day, when they play their day games.  As far as Impact, move it to 3am on Sunday Night/Monday mornings.  If it's good enough for WEW on one of the FSN's then it's definitely good enough for the Jarretts.
Owen Hart RIPPosted on 07/18/04 at 20:19:42

Keep in mind that the baseball games on FSN have had lower neilsen ratings than Impact. In fact the only FSN program that has a higher rating than impact is The Best Damn Sports Show...Period
AnubisPosted on 07/18/04 at 22:15:44

I wasn't aware of that, although I can believe that.  So then, why don't they care about ratings?  It's all of Fox.  They have a bleak history of mismanaging their best shows.

Firelfy anyone?
AnubisPosted on 08/14/04 at 03:49:23

Well, it happened YET AGAIN.  How am I supposed to be able to fucking follow NWA-TNA if it's only on once or twice a month?

I'd almost be willing to say Vince has talked Fox into doing this shit purposefully to kill off the competition, but I don't think Vince has that much power.  Or does he?

NWA-TNA needs to get off Fox and find a respectable network that will sshow proper respect to its shows.  This baseball crap going over it every week is unacceptable, ESPECIALLY since they show the baseball twice.  Assholes.

I hope Jerry Jarrett tries to cut a deal with Ted Turner once Ted Turner's contract with AOL/Time Warner is up (thus allowing him to get back into wrestling).  Unfortunately, that's not until spring of 2005 . . .

I would think more along the lines of Harsh Realm and Dark Angel.

(I dislike Firefly as part of a personal grudge myself primarily because it's what replaced Dark Angel. It's also ironic that Firefly actually got much lower ratings than Dark Angel.)

Still, the point is that Fox has a very bad history of making poor business decisions.
xsouporheroxPosted on 08/14/04 at 05:11:47

But Firefly has such good DVD sales they are making a film about it and considering doing new episodes direct to DVD.

::shrug::

The problem with FSN though is that it is not one station, but a coalition.
AnubisPosted on 08/14/04 at 06:03:03

They never tried to do that with Dark Angel, despite massive fan support.
darkmimePosted on 08/22/04 at 05:43:12

Impact is full of worthless 2-5 minute matches and a bunch of Jeff Jarret/Dusty Rhodes/Vince Russo angles anyways.

Yeah I know, it's not constructive at all, but lately it's been really pissing me off.

"Alright, Jeff Jarrent beat some random jobber in 38 seconds, what's next...Monty Brown beating some random jobber in 49 seconds?!?! ALL RIGHT!!"
AnubisPosted on 08/22/04 at 20:56:56

That much is true.  I'm sick of watching dumb jobbers every week.  I'm hoping that changes when they go to the monthly PPV.  If it doesn't, NWA-TNA will not be long for this world because they'll go bankrupt in half a heartbeat.  The weekly shows are the meat and potatoes of wrestling.  They did well at first, but now they've changed to the jobber squash matches.
