Kenta Kobashi's health...

Cut'n'pasted from 411mania.com/wrestling

A shocking announcement was made today by NOAH President Mitsuharu Misawa. Misawa announced that Kenta Kobashi would undergo medical treatment to remove a renal tumor (kidney cancer). The tumor was discovered during a routine medical check-up. Medical consultation is currently taking place. There is some concern that the tumor could be malignant. Obviously his participation in the "dream" tag match, which was Yoshihiro Takayama vs. Jun Akiyama & Misawa on 7/16 at Nippon Budokan is now canceled.

Misawa noted that Kobashi was maintaining his strength both physically and mentally. Tamon Honda also commented on the situation, given that he and Kobashi are the GHC tag champions. Will Honda fill-in for Kobashi in the July 16th Nippon Budokan tag match in honor of his partner? No one knows as of today.

The hope is that due to the early detection of the tumor, Kobashi will be able to get it removed and continue his wrestling career.

Hopefully the tumor is benign and he'll be back to kesigiri chopping the hell out of people in no time.

Hoepfully he is doing better. I just found this gem on youtube:

Do yourselves a favor and go to about the 9 minute mark and watch the 5 minute, 184 chop battle extravaganza that takes place. I am in awe.

That chop battle is the shit. I have that event on DVD. It's a highly recomended event, the whole thing is awesome.

Also, Kobashi's surgery was successful and they are expecting him to return to the ring sooner rather than later.

Out of curosity, how old are Kobashi and Sasuki now?
CarlzillaPosted on 08/19/06 at 01:21:13

Kensuke just turned 40 this year, and Kobashi is 39.

The only thing that could have made it better would have been if the crowd had chanted 'WHAT' after each chop.

I'm sorry, this made me laugh quite extensively. Don't worry, what I said was VERY tongue in cheek.

Just thinking about hearing "WHAT" after every chop makes me giggle a bit. It's a good thing it didn't happen for real.
