El Zorro...

Anyone know what the deal is with El Zorro's whole "Man in the iron mask" thing he's got going on?  I think I missed something... :)

Was this on the last episode of Galavision's show? Maybe Electro Shock put him in it.

I'm still confused about the issues between El Zorro and Electro Shock in their storyline. When I watched an episode, Electro Shock didn't like that Zorro kept hitting Charly Manson with the singapore cane.

They may be playing up how Electro Shock and Charly Manson are related in real life.

I didn't see El Zorro wrestling with the mask on, but when the announcers went over the card, I did notice the mask and it was badass. Since Galavision skipped over a few months of shows, I wonder how he started wearing the mask.

So I watched El Zorro on Galavision today (well, just the highlights shown after the match since I thought the lucha libre show was on at 12 PM PST, but because of futbol americano, it was shown earlier!), and I have to say that mask is badass and it puts another dimension to Zorro's character. I just would like to know how he went from handing roses to the ladies to being this individual in a mask you'd think Kane should be wearing.

And the Gronda gimmick is badass too. I think that was how The Boogeyman originally was to look, but they changed it.

Gronda's character is basically what Batista's Leviathan gimmick was in OVW if I am not mistaken.  Muscleheaded, evil, devil like character that fans can either love or hate.  Whereas Boogeyman is just comin' to getcha! and based on the movie of the same name (which is most likely a Lawler creation since most of his "enemies" in Memphis were sci-fi/horror movie characters of some sort)

Well, I was referring mostly to the gimmick mask Gronda wears being similar to the prototype Boogeyman. Boogeyman really wasn't a mask, but he had horns sticking out his head. Plus, from what I remember from the first picture from OVW of Boogeyman, his muscles were all outlined like Gronda.

Gronda is all sorts of badass like El Zorro though. That mask is going to elevate Zorro I think, that is, if he can keep it on.

To illustrate what the mask looks like, here's a picture from LuchaWiki:

Heh, I remember "Freddy", "Jason", and "Lucifer"...hmm they also had Bota the Witch Doctor, though I think that guy was around before and after Memphis. Spellbinder/Phantasio and Kamala have been on-and-off Memphis mainstays forever, too.

Freddy had a great spot he used to do, when running "The International" with an opponent. They'd get to the point where the opponent drops down flat to let Freddy leap over, Freddy would lay down next to them and look at them, and they'd get freaked out, get up, and run out of the ring. Keith Eric did a hilarious sell of that one Saturday morning.

Before he went to the WWF, they had The Godfather/Papa Shango/Kama packaged as The Soultaker...

Oh hey, this is the lucha board, and I've wandered off on a tangent. Carry on, gentlemen!
