Yup.

So since leaving the WWE he has:

1. Failed to make it to even the practice squad of the Vikings.

2. Pissed off a promotor in Japan.

And now:
3. Got punked by a former UFC Champion after months of hype about how great he is/was.

I know not alot (if anyone) thought he could beat Mir but I'm sure alot of people thought he would put up a better showing.

1:30 in the first is about what I'd figured :-P

Now, UFC has to take a look at all the money spent on hyping this and ask itself "Ok, where to now?"

Then again, they can ALSO use this as a "See? OUR guys are real fighters, not like pro wrasslers."

I still think they lost more than they gained from this.

TNA got some free adverts, anyway, via the Angle interviews...

It seemed really stupid to me to put Lesnar in a fight with not only a former UFC Champion but a pretty good submission fighter as well. Why the build if they were throwing him in against someone with that much talent and good size?

I don't get it. Seems like they threw alot of money out the window for this one.

I'm not trying to discredit Mir, as he was great in his prime, but he's hardly in his prime anymore. Lesnar pounded the crap out of him, but is still a rookie at defending against submissions and got caught. I am NOT* a Brock Lesnar fan, but seriously, with some training defending against submissions on the ground, he could be a real monster in UFC.

*I really fucking hate him. I think he's a pox on wrestling.
JeepGuyPosted on 02/04/08 at 15:08:22

I'd hardly call Frank Mir past his prime but yes, I think with training, Brock Lesner could become a decent fighter. Will he be the rage of the UFC Heavyweight division? That remains to be seen.

Actually, from what I heard about the fight, Lesnar held his own pretty well. He was beating Mir pretty solidly with strikes but was a little too slow pulling his leg away and Mir caught it and locked on the kneebar.

I have a feeling that Brock didn't worry about learning submission (and more importantly submission defense) like he should've.  I got the impression from him that he figured he could just go in toss a guy and start pounding him.

So the next big question is: Whats Brock going to fail at next?

I'm guessing it'll be pitching his own ice cream flavor to Ben & Jerry.

Brock: And we'll call it the "Brock Lesnar ice cream: The Next Big Wing"

Ben: Ummm... yeah... see... I don't think people will BUY a buffalo chicken flavored ice cream...

Jerry: .... you're icky.

Oh he hit him alright, quite a few times but most of those were short choppy shots, hitting downwards or upwards but only superficial blows. With Mir's arms in the way, none of those looked like they were landing solidly or did any real damage, even the ones to the back of the head when Mir rolled inwards. Mir didn't look to be in too much trouble and his face certainly wasn't messed up after the fight.
