Illegal Operation on Plugins

John ProulxPosted on 01/03/05 at 05:10:12

After installing the Crowd Chant Editor recently, I tried to run it, and TNM crashed with an illegal operation. Now, any time I try to run ANY plug-in, I get the same message.

A DOS program throwing a  Windows "illegal operation" error is fishy, to say the least. DOS programs are executed in a sandbox, and to cause an illegal operation message, they'd have to operate outside the sandbox.

Would it be possible for you to give me the exact error message you get?

Thanks!

Here's what I get when I open the Database Cleaner:

Message box with "TNM" in the title bar, with the following message:

"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be terminated. Quit all programs, and then restart your computer.

If the program consistently encounters problems, click the Start button, then select Help, Troubleshooting, and 'If you have trouble running MS-DOS programs'."

When I click on the "Details" button, I get this:

"The program has encountered a general protection exception.

Fault location: 0D72:1EDD

Interrupts in service: None"

Also note, I get the same message with the Cross-Reference Tool, but only AFTER it's been run, whereas with the Cleaner, I get it immediately after I select it from the list of plugins. Also, I do NOT get the message when I run circuit plugins, only the ones off the main TNM menu.

Sorry to say but this isn't any territory I can cover through TNM. All I could offer you is to send you a different compile of the CARD.EXE program which the Virtual DOS Machine doesn't choke on. It'd have to be a process, though.

You know me...I'm always up for such things :) . Feel free to e-mail me whatever is necessary.
