Chant editor problem

Dragon_XPosted on 12/31/04 at 07:11:18

I just installed the chant editor and tried using it.  The first time I ran it, I got a quick message that stated "Access Denied" and then returned me to the main TNM screen.  Now when I try to run it, it just returns me to the main screen.  Not sure if this is a bug or just a problem with my TNM.

That sounds familiar to me.  Let me guess, you're running Service Pack 2 on Windows XP, right?

Save the file from your email to your desktop, right click the icon, select properties, push the "Unblock" button, then unzip it to the NewPlugs file and install as normal.  Should fix the problem, if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks, Critic.  That worked perfectly.  That's the second TNM problem I had to fix since installing service pack 2.

It's actually not a TNM problem.  What happens is that Service Pack 2, which is designed to desperately try to make Windows and Explorer secure, is a paranoid little piece of software.  Basically if somebody emails you a zip file, it will block files it thinks are suspect (mainly .exe files) from extracting unless you specifically unblock it to tell it that you were expecting the problem.

If you're downloading plugins from the main page, you shouldn't have a problem.  But if Oliver emails them to you you're going to need to jump through a few hoops.  Happened to me too a few months ago, and took Oliver and I a while to figure out what the heck was going on because nothing in the plugins or TNM is supposed to generate an "Access Denied" message.  Glad I could help.
