Tag Ratings - dumb question?

TheWavePosted on 08/30/04 at 23:30:35

Sorry to ask this, but I've been trying to figure a way to do this and cannot:

Is there a way to rename a tag team - one that has already wrestled matches and thereby shows up in the tag team ratings - and keep their place in the ratings and win-loss record the same?

So for instance, if The Legion of Doom is ranked #2 with a 5-0 record and I rename the team to The Road Warriors, can I somehow make them stay in the ratings at the same spot with the same record but with the different name?

I cannot find a way to do this; changing the team name removes them from the ratings altogether.  I have checked and experimented with various plugins and can't find a way there either.

Am I out of luck?  Thanks!

If you're running First Edition, you're out of luck.  If you're running Second Edition, then the program is smart enough to know that two wrestlers with a different tag team name are the same pairing.  This seems to be because in SE, TNM lists a tag team as something like "The Hardy Boys (Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy)" rather than just "The Hardy Boys" like in FE.

This is also why in second edition, a tag team with a name will list the wrestlers in the results.

The easiest way to pull this off is to edit the file CARDT.PTS in your circuit's folder with Notepad and replace the old name with the new one. Be sure to make a backup of the file in case you add or delete anything by mistake.

Then change the team's name and you'll be fine, regardless of the TNM version :)

.....I'm pretty sure that the new team name will show up in the rankings ,(with their old record intact) after they have had a match under the new team name, I'm almost 100% about this because I'm almost 100% sure that I have dealt with this and this is how it got resolved for me.....

I always did it the way Oliver said.  I always messed around with the .DAT files to get things the way I wanted.  It's also the easier way to edit card results with little hassle.
