I believe that's by design.

It is - I believe Oliver wanted to avoid any potential copyright issues by having you pay for a program with the real wrestlers in it.

The easiest thing to do anyway, and has been even since you could pick the wrestlers as you installed TNM, is download the ALLWREST file from the exports page. That way, you can just go through everyone who is available and pick who you want.

Maybe he should have gone the route of most sports games, and changed everything just enough to bypass any copyright breaches. I for one would have loved to use Da' Roc, Stephen Orstin and Hulk Hoogan.

Actually, the main reason not to ship wrestlers with TNM 7 SE was because most people tend to import only the wrestlers they want to use.

What use is it for somebody to have about 500 moves that only the luchadors in the program do and then run into memory errors because of that?

Rather, by importing only the wrestlers you want/need, you can retain a streamlined database which in turn helps avoid trouble.

As far as copyrights go, we used to have an agreement with WWE which ran out a few months ago. Since they are quite litigious in the moment in the wrestling simulator scene, my decision to separate the program and the data was also right as a preventive measure in hindsight.

I personally always hated that. It took me days to change the names and likenesses of the wrestlers on the old Fire Pro Wrestling games on the SNES/Playstation ;)
