Visualizer Problem

RKLPosted on 04/25/04 at 04:45:46

Visualizer no longer seems to work for me. None of my images show up during cards, I don't even get the large empty box I used to get when a wrestler did not have a picture assigned. I go in to visualizer image wizard. none of my pictures are even viewable anymore, and they all have:

Image Width: -26776
Image Height: 15423
Aspect Ration: -1.76

When I click around I get more information below that:

Recommended Aspect Ratio:      .8,
equals e.g. -26776x-33470 or 12194x15243

Need some help to fix this. Thanks

The best thing you could is to send me your MEDIA folder. I'll then figure it out for you.
RKLPosted on 04/29/04 at 02:48:33

Ok I sent it. Hope you can help me.

Thanks.
RKLPosted on 05/04/04 at 14:43:04

Any luck fixing this, or will I have to reinstall and start over?
Oliver CoppPosted on 05/04/04 at 23:01:07

I'm still trying to get to the bottom of it. Don't worry, though... it'll all work out.
RKLPosted on 05/05/04 at 04:41:08

Not sure if it matters, but I did turn off visualizer in options, and than it no longer worked when I turned it back on. Not sure if it's related.
Oliver CoppPosted on 05/05/04 at 06:47:38

Thanks for the info. I don't know if it'll matter or not but it might, so thanks!
RKLPosted on 05/12/04 at 14:51:06

Did you receive my email with attached TNM7?
Oliver CoppPosted on 05/12/04 at 22:31:19

Yes, in fact I did. And I replied that everything worked fine here... very strange. Did you try the latest version of TNMGS.EXE that I sent?

RKLPosted on 05/13/04 at 01:52:42

The last thing I received from you was 05-09-2004. I did not receive the latest version of TNMGS.EXE. Please send it again.

Here's some screenshots of visualizer wizard in 'action':

Oliver CoppPosted on 05/13/04 at 07:56:19

Could you please check if there are any DLLs in your TNM 7 SE folder. If so, what are their names?
RKLPosted on 05/13/04 at 14:29:03

I have GFXT_JPG.DLL & GFXT_PRO.DLL in c:\tnm7se and CT_PRO.DLL in c:\tnm7se\PROGRAM. Is this ok?
Oliver CoppPosted on 05/13/04 at 16:31:09

Yes, that's perfectly fine as well. Very strange.
RKLPosted on 05/14/04 at 13:53:37

Yeah, strange... I'm so glad I spent my money on this.  >:(
Oliver CoppPosted on 05/29/04 at 20:08:52

Again, I fully understand your frustration but can't comprehend the problem. If the very same code with the very same data (your data) works on my system and doesn't on yours, it's more likely a computer-related problem than a problem with TNM itself.

Still, I'd love to get to the bottom of this. If it turns out it's actually a bug in TNM, I'll send you a plugin of your choice free of charge.

What happens when you reinstall to another folder and try adding (the same) images? Do they show up fine? Or does the problem persist?

Thanks for your patience. I apologize for not being able to assist you more promptly.
RKLPosted on 06/02/04 at 03:47:22

The problem persists...

I tried emailing the PerfectSync people and I was told:

"If the problem is with JPEG files it sounds like you need a Graphics Tools update"

Just trying to figure it out for myself.
RKLPosted on 06/02/04 at 04:17:36

Hey, just installed build 2 and it shows the pictures again...  ;D

So nevermind.  :-
RKLPosted on 06/02/04 at 04:52:05

...and now after running a match it's back to the ol' negative values. Visualizer plugin was working at first ???
Oliver CoppPosted on 06/02/04 at 14:35:23

Could you please let me know one image name for which this happens?

If so, it might help the PerfectSync people find the problem. I've been in dialogue with them for weeks now and there hasn't been any progress on this issue. That's not to say they're not helping, it's more the fact that they - like me - are unable to find anything wrong so far...
RKLPosted on 06/02/04 at 14:55:43

Great_Muta.jpg

It happens with all of them though.
Oliver CoppPosted on 06/02/04 at 20:34:23

I'll send them the image. Would it be possible for me to send you a special program that reports the exact error code returned by Graphics Tools? I'd need to include that in the error report.
RKLPosted on 06/03/04 at 03:16:39

ok, email it to mjerome@cogeco.ca with instructions
Oliver CoppPosted on 06/28/04 at 18:02:52

Could you please check if you have multiple instances of GFXT_PRO.DLL on your hard drive (Windows search)?

Thanks!
RKLPosted on 07/02/04 at 17:02:33

No, I didn't. The only duplicate instance I had was a fresh install of tnm7se that I tried. I deleted it when you sent me the updated dll.
With the new .dll you sent it's pretty much fixed now. Although it still does not work if I double-click the tnm.bat file (here's a link for a picture:
http://home.cogeco.ca/~mjerome/visualizernew.jpg); It DOES work if I open a command prompt and navigate to the tnm7se directory and run TNM. This happens 100% of the time. double-click in XP on the .BAT and it will not
work, but open CMD and run it from dos-prompt it works fine. I don't know why this is.  Tested it about 15 times just to make sure. So it does work! Thanks a lot for actually sticking with this.
Oliver CoppPosted on 07/05/04 at 17:42:11

That might be the giveaway: some installations of Windows are shaky when it comes to setting up icons for DOS programs and batch files.

In those cases, the DOS command prompt isn't initialized properly. When an application the starts, the error range begins at GPFs, passes Illegal Opcodes and ends at simply not doing anything.

What happens if you make a shortcut to PROGRAM\CARD.EXE with the working directory still being the TNM 7 SE folder?
RKLPosted on 07/17/04 at 17:35:52

If I create a shortcut to PROGRAM\CARD.EXE with the working directory being the TNM 7 SE folder the visualizer wizard works fine, but the Visualizer it self never opens during a match (and it is on in options). Only by going to command prompt was I able to get everything working correctly.
Oliver CoppPosted on 07/19/04 at 17:39:06

The Visualizer is started by the BAT file, so it can't possibly run :).

Thanks for the info! I'll simply keep your advice as a workaround if somebody else runs into the same trouble from now on.
