What cause the following?

Owen Hart RIPPosted on 06/18/04 at 17:16:33

1. Lock-ups in the middle of matches?
2. Booking someone to win a match and the opposite happens, even when the guy you booked has a higher push and workrate?
3. Having the results of a match show that someone had won the match when the opposite happened (eg. I recently had a match between Orlando Jordan and Nunzio in which Nunzio pinned Jordan via a bodyslam, but in the results it said that Jordan pinned Nunzio via a bodyslam?
4. Elaborate Crop Circles

1. Probable cause: matching up two wrestlers where one is so heavy the second can't perform any of his moves on him.

2. Example, please? I'll try to reproduce it on my end. Thanks!

3. Do you have the finish somewhere? Thanks!

4. College student prank :)

(actually in one instance there were not more than 20 pounds between each wrestler)

2. Example, please? I'll try to reproduce it on my end. Thanks!

I booked Booked two matches Triple H vs The Rock and Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Christian in a single pin three way match (In the Rock's match the Rock did beat Triple H like I booked, but I booked Rock to win after The Rock Bottom (in around the 40 minute mark, and he won with the Samoan drop in less than eight minutes)

In the Jericho one, I booked Jericho to win the World title from Christian via the Walls of Jericho on Christian, but Christian ended up pinning Jericho with a backslide:(

3. Do you have the finish somewhere? Thanks! (ditto for the past one)

4. College student prank :) (that's what I figured some kind of fraternity thing, lol!) (either that or SATANISTS! LOL!

I have to say about #3, It has happened in the past to me, but I'd say it's a 1 in 10000 shot of happening.

I agree, Pulsar. That's why I'd need the lines before the finish because it can only be something that triggers in very few cases.

Thanks!

#2 can possibly occur if the match results in an injury for one of the wrestlers.  Essentially in that case, all booking pretty much goes out the window and things tend to end pretty quickly.  If memory serves, this is programmed in this manner because logically in such a case a match would probably be rushed to prevent aggravating the injury.  Note that there's also a chance that the match will continue as planned, or that it will be stopped outright.

A while back I would have #1 happen because of corrupt foreign objects in the database.  Might be worth having a check through to make sure that all of your FO's have "a" or "the" at the start of them.

If you ever get the following line during matches:

<wrestler a> hits <wrestler b> with .

Then it's a sure sign that some objects haven't been set up correctly.  Of course, whether that is causing the lock-up is another matter.

Do you know the feeling when you've written a program and are asked a question, just to have a third party point out something obvious that you missed ;-)

Nope.  ;D

Actually, there was no injury! I watched the entire match (in the few instances I did book that this happened, most of the time the man/woman I booked to win actually did win, but won with a different move than I actually booked.
