Duplicating cards...

Masked_TexanPosted on 07/11/07 at 23:39:09

I did a quick search, but either was searching for the wrong subject, or there hasn't been a topic about this, but anyhow....

I was wondering, if there is a way to duplicate a card, (just the matches itself, not the results), without having to actually schedule another card by selecting the participants each time?

For example, back in the territory days, they would present, almost identically, the same card, in the main cities for a week or two, then change it up and do it over again.

Yeah, I know, usually the results were the same, but I wanted to have at least some suprises in the outcomes.

Is there anyway to do this in TNM?  Am I making any sense?  ???   ;D

Thanks!

There is a "Saved Lineups" feature I remember running into from time to time that, I think, saved lists of matches. But I can't remember what key I hit when I run into it- might be deep in the manual somewhere- I think the "O" key brings up the list of saved lineups, but I don't know how to set them... Anybody?

If I'm not mistaken this was an aborted feature that Jeff speaks of (from version 6.2 I think).  I too have run into this same problem with the NWA territory circuit that I run.  same card every night, and no easy way to book it without having to enter every match every time for 7 straight cards.

Just using the keyboard shortcuts makes it tolerable.

There is some file in the circuit directory that contains the raw data for the upcoming card. It MIGHT be possible to copy that file and do something with it.

this is a really ironic topic, as i just started running a tour (house shows) with the same exact 10 matches. i too would like different outcomes, but i was really just thinking about this last night....

Thanks for all the great suggestions.

triad-

You're right, it's the "o" key that brings up the lineups, but, like you, I don't know how to bring those up, or how to even save anything to it.

I scheduled some matches, and saved it, then got out of TNM.  I then went into that directory folder for saved lineups, but the file was empty.

Rick-

You're probably right, it may be a feature that wasn't finished.  I looked at the manuals in 6.2 and 7, but couldn't find anything on the saved lineup feature.

Memphis-

I'll look for that file, and see if I can do anything with it.

If I find anything, I'll definitely let you all know.

Of course I'm right, I am a beta tester.  :)

I searched for saved lineups and found something from 2003. The poster said that 'V' is used to save a lineup and 'O' is to open it to use. I tried this when scheduling a match. While it will save the lineup (i.e. the match), it doesn't save other information after you select the wrestlers.

And it appears to only save things match by match, instead of creating the whole card and then saving it as a lineup. Unless I am just not trying hard enough. But the functionality is there.

Very painful method:

Get a keyboard macro recording program.

Start it prior to booking the initial match.

Book your card.

Stop the macro recorder BEFORE you name your card.

Name your card and save it.

Run your card.

Create a new card, and run the saved macro.

Not a very clean/easy/efficient method, but it should work.

Where do you get a keyboard macro? If you've done this before and your TNM didn't go awry, I'd like to mimic what you did completely.

I haven't done it with TNM, but Windows 3.1 had a "recorder" for recording and "playing back" key commands that I used to use alot.

Razor (a third party app for Ultima Online) has a built in recorder (though it records actual packets sent, not just keyboards).

There are dozens(hundreds?) of various macro and recording apps on the net. Quick Google search should be sufficient.
