ERROR 70 at pgm-ctr: 435?

Shaun SindelmanPosted on 05/25/04 at 02:50:10

I've run into a brick wall because now every match i run, i'm getting this error. It used to be that some matches would lock up and i'd have to shut them down to get to the next match but now i shut down the match and it goes to the next and i get this error so i shut down the match and it repeats.

WHAT CAN I DO????

I enjoy TNM 7SE and don't want to have to stop playing with it because of some error message. Hell, i was even thinking of registering it but not if i cant even get it to work.

SOMEONE HELP ME PLEEEEASE!!!

AND YES I ALREADY RAN THE DIAGNOSTIC AND GOT NOTHING BUT A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH.

One or more .VAR files are inaccessible, i.e. can't be written to. Please delete ALL .VAR files in all folders and your problem will go away.

Note: Doing a search on the forums using the last 365 days, will usually result in the answers to error messages as most of these errors have occurred before.

Its still happening.

I delete any VAR files in my TNM7SE folder and its subfolders and it works for a bit until a lockup happens in the middle of a match and then im back to square one where i have to reboot, delete and restart the match.

any further advice?

after skimming old messages about this error, i am also going to try and run scandisk on my HD and see if that finds anything cause supposedly this error 70 nonsense is due to files not being open and closed properly

Dear Shaun,

sorry for the late reply.

Error 70 means "trying to write to a read-only file". Please make sure you mark the entire TNM 7 SE folder and all files in the Windows Explorer and remove the read-only bit from all files and folders.

I suspect the folder had been backed up onto a CD and restored from there. True?

Thanks for the reply Oliver.

I solved it by running scandisk and i guess there were some crosslinked files or something.

I never backed it up onto a cd and restored it so i'm going to assume it was the read only thing that was fixed with scandisk.

So things are back in order? That's good to hear.
