Audio Problem

I can't get TNM7 SE to play mp3s through winamp. I have it selected to "Use Internal Player for WAVs; Media Player for Others." I have my winamp path in the winamp field. Now, the themes do play, but not through winamp... whatever's playing them is doing a lousy job. I think it's the internal player... I get these weird "pops" instead of some drum sounds. Anyway, winamp used to play them fine in FE, but i've emulated the settings and it's not working for me with SE. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to check "Don't Use New Multimedia Engine", then your old programs and settings will be used.

The "internal player" is the Windows Media Player BTW, only that it's integrated into the TNM 7 SE code and not called as an external program anymore. Getting the latest WMP might help you get rid of the "pops"....

I've already tried checking "Don't Use New Multimedia Engine". I've tried as many combinations as I could. One thing strange though, tnm7 se won't find winamp, I have to type the path in manually. My winamp is in c:\Program Files\Winamp.

I've typed c:\progra~1\winamp\winamp.exe into the field. I've checked it a lot to be sure it's right, and I've opened a command prompt and typed it in there the same and winamp opened. It's like TNM7 se isn't recognizing that I even have winamp.

BTW, I already have the latest windows media player, 9.00.00.3008. I'm pretty sure my "popping" problem has to do with a bad codec somewhere, but it only shows up when an external program uses the "internal player". IE. I can open up the windows media player console and play the the same songs, but minus the weird pops (sounds like someone's hitting a broken drum).

That's very possible. The Windows Media Player (and Windows itself) exposes an interface called MCI which other applications can use to access multimedia functions.

The reason why TNM doesn't recognize your WinAmp is because time doesn't stand still. The newer versions of WinAmp work differently and are called and controlled differently than the versions from five and more years back.

I'd recommend installing the latest version of WinAmp which will then be controlled and detected as desired.

Thanks.

Ok, I've installed the latest winamp3 and the latest winamp2 versions. TNM7 SE is still unable to find them when I hit the "find" button. So I put the path to winamp3.exe in the field... and it uses that MCI interface, which sound like garbage for me. I've tried it with "don't use new multimedia engine" checked and without. I really need the themes to go through winamp like before. Please any help would be great.

OK, for some reason it works in cards, but not in TNM Control center. Meh, good enough  ;D

It still won't find the winamp automatically through with the find button.
Oliver CoppPosted on 08/21/03 at 13:36:57

Well, the Control Center isn't likely to play themes anyway if you have a good number of wrestlers :)

But if the intros work, that's the most important part, isn't it :-) ?
RKLPosted on 08/21/03 at 17:44:26

Control center does play them, but with that MCI interface instead of winamp. Winamp is used during cards so that's good. But again, I have winamp2 and winamp3 and tnm7 won't "find" (with the find button) either. Could be a bug.

If it looks like a bug and smells like a bug... it IS a bug ;-)
RKLPosted on 08/23/03 at 08:42:12

Hey sorry to keep bothering you with winamp problems. The themes play fine now, but tnm7 won't stop them when it should. Like before a match starts, it will introduce the wrestlers and play their themes.  But the wrestler who is introduced last; his theme keeps playing after the intro is over and goes on during the match until I either shut it off manually or wait for the match to end and it plays the winners music... which in turn won't shut off until the next theme music starts. At the end of a card the theme music of the winner of the last match continues to play.

Is there anything I can do about this ?

Hehe.  No kidding.  1547 wrestlers and counting, and that's the only thing that gives me an error 7.  Not too bad for an infernal machine.

It won't stop... hmmm... then obviously the WinAmp people changed the name of their program window once again :-/

I'll fix it for Build 2. Thanks!
RKLPosted on 08/24/03 at 18:19:47

Ok., great  ;D. I was using the latest winamp2, 2.91.

Funny how Winamp 2 is five months newer than the latest version of Winamp 3.

When will Build 2 be released.
Oliver CoppPosted on 04/09/04 at 10:09:37

The ETA is June 1.

I still have a good half-dozen bugs that need to be fixed and tested before deployment.

The WinAmp people aren't too helpful BTW. The reason why TNM can't close WinAmp is because WinAmp doesn't process the WM_CLOSE message if it comes from another application :/
