a No Contest!

DominusPosted on 09/12/03 at 22:39:13

What happens when there is a no contest to the ratings?  It looks like one of my Tag Teams got a win, and one of them got a loss.  It doesn't make sense.  I did restart the match because I didn't like the ending (Actually I think it went past the time limit...  Read my last post about that)  But if I restart a match it shouldn't effect my ratings right?

Fuck, it screwed them all up!  I don't know how or why, but some of the tag teams have like 3 or 4 more matches then they had the previous card!

Ok... Haha I had problems stacked up on problems. Ok Lets get this straight:

#1 - I started a card, and it said DMA buffer allocation failed when it tried to play any Theme Songs. So I ran the 1st couple of matches, then got really mad that I couldn't hear the songs. So I shut down TNM illegally during mid match. Then I took off "Don't let MS-Dos Detect Windows" so now when I ran TNM, it said Windows 95/98 running and not DOS Mode Running. Well I tried to resume the card... Well then....

#2 - I got Error 70 at pgm-ctr: 435 ! So I decided to just restart the card since I had only done a few matches. Everything worked fine, and the Themes were working again, but just when it was to go into the match after the intros. It said Error 70 at pgm-ctr: 435 again! So I changed my settings back to DOS Mode Running, but that still didn't work. So I restarted my computer. Switched the settings back to Windows 95/98 and back into TNM, resumed my card and it worked. Well after the card I looked at the standings and....

#3 - They were wrong! The first couple matches that I had ran before I shut it down were counted in the ratings even though I restarted the card! But that was ok because I just adjusted the rating files myself. But then...

#4 - One of my last matches was a tag match between East-West Connection vs Can-Am Express, with Strike Force interferring against East-West and Demolition interferring against Can-Am. Well the match went the time limit, but fucking stupid ass ref let the match continue! Dumb fuck, piece of shit, bitch ass! errrr >:(
And I had NO TIME LIMIT Extentions checked!! So when the match finally ended at the 45 min mark, I just pressed "r" and restarted the match. I'm not sure who won though. So the match restarted which then lead to this...

#5 - Demolition and Strike Force interferred almost at the same time so the ref called the match at about 2:38 as a NO Contest. So what does that mean? Does it mean it's a draw? or the match didn't even accur in the "Record Books" for lack of a better term... Because unless there is a bug with the restart, Can-Am got a win and East-West recieved a loss. There is no draw anywhere in their records, and the only thing I could think of that cause an extra win and loss is from when I restarted the match after one of the teams had already won and one had lost. I checked the log file, but it doesn't show the end... So I don't know what to do. But if Oliver or someone could tell me how a NO-CONTEST effects your ratings (Draw or Nothing) that'd be great, that way I can just edit the ratings and fix it myself.

I know everyone must be busy, because usually I would have recieve a reply by now.  But anyways, I know Oliver is busy, so is there anyone that can answer me the question on How a No Contest effects ratings?  Does it count as a Draw?  Does it do nothing?  Does it do nothing but still rises their heat meters and Ratings Points?  What about Winning Streaks??  Ne1??
Oliver CoppPosted on 09/14/03 at 16:24:11

Sorry, Dominus... I had been away on business matters for a few days.

If you get "DMA Buffer Allocation Failed", it for some reason tries to play the themes through PLANY.EXE, i.e. the DOS theme processor.

How are your audio options set up?

What you found with no-contests is a bug that I will fix.

However, if you RESTART a card, all matches that already took place WILL count in the ratings.

Please read my other reply regarding the error 70 message.

Yeah I think I had recently changed my settings for TNM to "Not Detect Windows" so when TNM started it would say "DOS Mode Running"

But I hadn't ran a card yet, so I didn't know if the themes would work.  But when I ran a card, that's when they stopped working so, then I shut off TNM during a match and changed the settings so it said "Windows 95/98 Running"  So I resumed card, but it said that
Error 70 at pgm-ctr: 435 , because I went to resume and it was going to just go right back into the match that was running when I just TNM off.  So I just thought I would restart the card since I had only ran 2 matches so far, and when I did, The themes worked this time, but when it went into the match (Which it never did, the intro screen still hung there) Error 70 at pgm-ctr: 435 came up on TNM and shut down.  So I just thought it might just need a reboot (because it wouldn't delete those files in my TNM folder from the Recycling Bin.  It said they were still in use?  So that was odd...  But I restarted and then Resumed the card and everything went fine.  It was only after that the Ratings were messed up on some of the tag teams.  Basically the first matches that I had ran before I restarted the card had counted in the ratings (This is a bug I presume right?  Or was it just me?) and the match (The one that went the time limit and beyond because "Interference" had yet to occur) that I restarted and it ended up being a No Contest, had the ratings wrecked....

I fixed the other 4 tag teams adjusting them manually through the CARDT.PTS (For Tag Teams I Presume) and CARDA.PTS (For Overall I Presume).  But now I just have to adjust the teams that were in the No Contest!  I'm not sure if I just give them a draw each and remove the extra win and loss they got, or just remove the loss and win and make it seem like the match never counted towards the ratings...

Haha lots of typing....  Hopefully I was clear on everything.

Oh yeah by the way no prob on you being away.  I just thought I'd mention it, because I think people usually expect you to answer everyone's Questions on help or anything.  And I just put that out there because if anyone else could help me with the No Contest thing it would have been great, because I know how busy you are.  Like I try to the best of my ability to help anyone that might have a problem that I could solve for them or atleast think I could  :-/ haha.
