On the fly booking

ggazooPosted on 08/20/03 at 01:39:34

Well not really the "on the fly booking" as far as adjusting pushes and such goes, but can you book "possible" matches?

For example, let's say it's Triple H vs Goldberg. If Triple H wins, he faces Vader for the WWF Title later that night. Is it possible to set up this scenario, with the possibilty that Triple H might lose, meaning the title match wouldn't happen? Or do I have to book Triple H wo win (which I hate doing  - I never book my matches).

well, you can make the WINNER of the match face Vader for the title... other than that, to my knowledge, no.
Oliver CoppPosted on 08/20/03 at 07:14:17

Conditional booking is a "no go", sorry. You can use the "winner" button to insert whomever wins the match into the title match with Vader, though...

So no chance of TNM ever having Gauntlet Matches, eh? That's a shame.
Crowpocalyptic1Posted on 08/20/03 at 17:41:26

well, if we get enough people interested in such matches, maybe Oliver could find it in his heart to attempt such matches...

Gauntlet matches can be done.  I have a PPV called "TITLE WAVE" all Champions must defend there titles 5 times.  For example:

World Champ = Bret Hart

1st Match - Bret Hart  vs  Vader #5 Contender
2nd Match - Winnner of #1  vs  Shawn Michaels #4 Contender
3rd Match - Winner of #2  vs  The Undertaker #3
4th Match - Winner of #3  vs  Goldberg #2 Contender
5th Match - Winner of #4  vs  Steve Austin #1 Contender

And in everymatch the the World Title is defended.  Steve Austin has the best chance of leaving the Champ though because he's the #1 contender and gets the last match.  Although it's unfair because Bret Hart has to win 5 Matches to retain.  But hey if your the champ, then that's what you gotta do.  In fact only Steve Austin and my wrestler Dominus have won all their matches before.

Except that that's not a Gauntlet Match, at least not in the traditional sense. A Gauntlet Match is where one wrestler has to beat [x] number of guys consecutively. If he loses to any of them, he loses, and the subsequent "matches" don't take place.

Oh I see what you mean.  I guess you could always shut TNM off "illegally" then shut down that match if you didn't want it to run.
DominusPosted on 08/21/03 at 09:03:24

I was just thinking, what about making last minute changes?  Like a little notice would ask you if you had any last minute changes before each match, ever after the card was done.  Just like if someone No-Shows, you can book a replacement. Mayybe Oliver could implement something like this into it.  Probably wont happen because of testing wise, and everything.  But it would great for not just changing or adding a match but also what I just found would be nice, adding interference.  I have random interference on and Wrestler A early in the card interfered against Wrestler B.  Well Wrestler A has a title match later on in the card, and it would be nice to add Wrestler A to interfere back against him during his big match!
trellianPosted on 08/21/03 at 20:04:50

Yes, it would be very nice indeed to be able to make some changes just before a match. Let us take a King of the Ring Tournament for example. You do not know who will face each other in the latter stages of the tournament, so therefore it is impossible to book outside interference. If it was possible, maybe you could be asked a question before each match: "Do you want to make some last minute changes?"

One other thing regarding tournaments. I suggest, again, if possible, that matches can be scheduled in-between the matches. After the semi-final in a King of the Ring tourney, the wrestlers should be able to rest a little. A match in the middle would have been perfect.

Booking changes on the fly are a no-go, as stated above. It has nothing to do with not "finding it in my heart", it's a technical thing that isn't changed easily.

From the TNM 7 SE beta list:

Maybe I worded it awkwardly. The scheduler in my opinion is the only part of the program that is severely lacking in my opinion. And it is the one part of the program which would benefit most from converting to a Windows program.

I do plan on writing a new scheduler although the plans are not imminent.

The Database Cleaner will leave beta on the 20th and will be released shortly thereafter. The Visualizer and the VIW will leave beta in the middle of next month and will then be released.

Beyond that, everything is speculation because I can't afford the luxury of taking another four months off of work to ensure maximum timeliness TNM-wise ;-)

That is not to be taken as a sign that I'm taking off again, though - no worries :). I'm committed to sticking with you through this and will continue to heavily employ Windows technology on all new releases from this point forward.
trellianPosted on 08/21/03 at 23:02:38

I guessed it was a technical issue. If it had been possible, I'll bet it would have been implemented! By the way, is there any option that lets you regulate that wrestlers tosses the ref's out of the ring? I have a lot of faces tossing refs out of the ring for no apparent reason.
Oliver CoppPosted on 08/22/03 at 02:55:12

Have you tried entering "0" into field 1 in TweakCirc SE's "Referee Options"?
trellianPosted on 08/22/03 at 09:12:57

No, but I'll try that! Thanks  :)
