Announcement bug back
stevetrash | Posted on 08/06/03 at 06:48:19 Oliver, I'm noticing that if a wrestler has a nickname in the global database and I delete it in the circuit, he still gets announced with the nickname. i.e. I changed Tony Anthony's name in the circuit to Dirty White Boy and deleted his nickname, but he gets announced as "Dirty White Boy" Dirty White Boy. |
Oliver Copp | Posted on 08/06/03 at 10:39:21 Please make it "" Dirty White Boy I can send you an e-mail with a file that then eliminates that case. |
stevetrash | Posted on 08/06/03 at 14:54:32 That would be great if you could send me that file. Thanks Oliver! |
Oliver Copp | Posted on 08/06/03 at 15:11:48 Find it here: http://www.tnm7.com/downloads/cardsrv.zip Unzip it into the PROGRAM folder. Also, I opted to logically do it like this: enter the wrestler's name into the name with nickname field, and if the two are the same, the wrestler will be announced by his name without a nick. |
Dominus | Posted on 08/06/03 at 22:37:23 I had a similar problem. When announcing Tag Team. If I have the nicks with the "" then I think it announces them without the team name. Like this: This contest is a tag team match scheduled for one fall. Introducing first... At a total combined weight of 499 pounds... Bushwhackers Their opponents... Led to the ring by Jimmy Hart... At a total combined weight of 550 pounds... Bret "The Hitman" Hart and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart See Bret & Jim should just be Hart Foundation, but because of the quotation marks it announces them like that. After the match it did say that the Hart Foundation did win though, not Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart. |
Oliver Copp | Posted on 08/07/03 at 07:03:52 Thanks, I'll have to look into that. |
stevetrash | Posted on 08/08/03 at 01:21:24 Hey Oliver, What exactly is that file supposed to do? After installing the file, I was still getting the global nickname if I left that field blank. I've solved it by using your recommendation of putting the wrestler's name in that field to avoid the tag team ""-thing Dominus just mentioned. Just curious. Thanks a lot for your help! -Steve |
Oliver Copp | Posted on 08/08/03 at 08:36:01 The file implements logic that if the wrestler's name is put into the nickname field on a circuit level, his nickname will be dropped.. Fields that are left blank have the global database "shine through", i.e. if you leave the nickname field blank in the circuit database, it MUST and WILL automatically default to the global nickname UNLESS you follow the logic I described. That's what the file does :) |
stevetrash | Posted on 08/08/03 at 14:56:03 ok, that means it's working right! thanks a lot! -steve |
