Problem installing TNM 6.2Plus..please help.

damnnearfonziePosted on 07/24/03 at 07:36:46

It's beena dream of mine for many years to own a copy of TNM. The problem has been money-of course. But luckily today my friend sent me a link to teh TNM website where I could download TNM V6.2 Plus for free!

The problem is, I'm lost...is this the FULL simulator, or am I living a pipe dream?

I've read the great reviews for Copp's masterpiece ever since I started to get back online in the mid 90's(yeah I'm an old school 'net user, SompuServ when I had a 300 baud modem on my Commodore 64) and I plan on buying TNM 7.0 with a paycheck from school this Fall...but first I'd like to try a test run with the 6.2Plus version located on the website.

I don't know twh first thing about opening it from WINZip-as I've looked for .exe files to open but there's nothing I see that will allow me to open the game.

Can someone help this newbie-I really need it. Trust me, my summer has been crap, crap, and last week the ceiling fell in on my Mom's house(after she had 13 hour surgery two months previous). I'd go on with my horror stories but I'd rather get my mind off these things by trying out TNM.

Please, I beg of you...someone help me. I need to know how to open the simulator as found here;

Thanks in advance!
Brent

PS-If someone can tell me what to do, or link me to an area of instructions it'd really help out! :)

It is the full, honest to god version of TNM 6.2Plus (That I paid for oh so many years ago ;->) without the wrestlers.

Go to www.winzip.com, and download the trial version (it never actually expires) or go to www.winrar.com, and do the same.

Both will open .zip files as well as .exe's that are self-executing zip files. WinRAR will also opwn .rar files.

I really appreciate the response, I've got the UNZIP program-maybe I shoulda worded the sentence better(afterall it was late last night, heck..I'm still awak trying to figure this out in the AM);

I have the unzip program, the problem lies on what I NEED to UNZIP in the Version6.2 Plus(that you paid for SO MANY years ago, haha). I'm not sure what I NEED to unzip, because I don;t see any .exe files.
Does that ake sense?

Is there some sorta other file extenions I need to look for, or do I just down down the lit of everything and unzip it all?

Also, where do I download the wrestlers at? I'm getting an older version so where exactly do I go?

I CAN'T WAIT to try this out...and finally make enough cash to start a fed planet of my own!

Thanks again in advance!

Assuming it's the same as the latest TNM, you run the program with the TNM.bat file.

By the way, you can download a trial version of TNM7 for free and play it for 28 days before you have to register it.  So...  That might give you a better idea of what you'd be getting.  But then, it ain't free. <Grins>

Thakns again, when I tried to run that program, by double clicking on it, it didn't work. Any suggestions? man, am I lost.

Thanks for the heads up on the 7.0 also!

It works for me.  Doesn't look like much, but it is working...  Not really sure what the problem is.  Sorry.

If you have problems with TNM7, I may be able to offer a small amount of help.  But TNM6.2 is sadly before my time.  So I reccomend that you give up on TNM6.2 for now and play around with the trial version of TNM7 until Oliver gets back on August 1.  He can probably help you to get 6.2 running at that point, then you can revert to 6.2 until you've got the money to purchase 7 Second Edition.

Do me a favour:

Go to Start Button=>Run and type cmd

At the command prompt, type qbasic.

Does that work?

If NOT, that's your problem: TNM6.2 REQUIRES QBasic to run.
Oliver CoppPosted on 08/02/03 at 10:05:04

You can get QBASIC here BTW: www.tnm7.com/downloads/qbasic.exe

I think that's what Fonzie needs to get the ball rolling.

Thanks to everybody for helping when I was gone.
