Saturday Fight Night Episode #10
Bolton Arena, Bolton
Your commentary team is Chris Freeman and Adam Wheeler.

The show began with a video package hyping up tonight's final of the recent tag team tournament, showing footage of all the previous rounds. The winner of tonight's final between The Aristocrats and The New Young Lions will face the NWA-UK Hammerlock Tag Team Champions for the titles at Heatwave, so it is all on the line. Following the Saturday Fight Night opening titles, Chris Freeman and Adam Wheeler built up the Heavyweight Title Match main event between champion Jason Prentice and "The Pride of East London" Ian Powers. They also mentioned that Bryan Campbell will defend his TV Title against the Goldie Lookin' Chain's Eggsy before focusing their attention on the imminent tourney final. Freeman reminded viewers that the New Young Lions had eliminated the Team Buddies and The Bodysnatchers en route to the final, while The Aristocrats had disposed of the GLC and the tandem of Shenanigans and Hijinx. Freeman thought that The New Young Lions had had the tougher passage to the final, as they had come through two long battles in their previous matches. On the other hand, The Aristocrats had yet to win a match by pinfall or submission! They defeated the Goldie Lookin' Chain in a short match via count out and their match with Shenanigans and Hijinx was stopped when Hijinx suffered an horrific injury. Both teams are ready tonight though. With a chance to become Tag Team Champions at stake, they are sure to hold nothing back!!

Match highlights:
The tourney final began with a heated brawl on the floor. The Aristocrats took Kyle Coulbourne down with a double clothesline and Lord Potemkin hurt Coulbourne with a double underhook backbreaker. Coulbourne fired back with a swinging neckbreaker on Potemkin and he scored a two count with a flying sunset flip. Coulbourne went for a flying cross body press, but Potemkin turned it into a vicious powerslam. Cuthbert D. Fharquar nailed Coulbourne with an arm trap shoulder neckbreaker, but Brandon Alvarez interjected himself and the New Young Lions planted Fharquar with a double back suplex. However, Fharquar executed a butterfly suplex on Alvarez and followed up with a dragon suplex for a near fall. Coulbourne hit an amazing top-rope Frankensteiner on Potemkin and with the bout hanging finely in the balance, the show went to commercial!

Back from the break, Fharquar superplexed Coulbourne and Potemkin followed up with a flying headbutt. Potemkin then executed a fisherman suplex on Coulbourne for a two count. Cuthbert Fharquar argued with the official about a slow count, while Major James Hewitt climbed onto the apron and threw his cane to Lord Potemkin. However, Brandon Alvarez intercepted it and snapped it over Potemkin's head to the joy of the crowd! The New Young Lions then pinned Potemkin with the Double Flatliner for the win and a tag team title shot at Heatwave!! Terrific match!!

Footage was shown from the aftermath of an untelevised match between the GLC's P Xain and Mike Balls and the Team Buddies. As Xain and Balls celebrated their victory, Bryan Campbell viciously attacked them from behind. He knocked Balls off the stage with a stiff forearm to the face and then repeatedly rammed P Xain's head into the steel guardrail. The beatdown ended when the rest of the GLC ran out for the save. Eggsy swore that he would get revenge on Campbell later tonight!

Footage rolled from Hammerlock TV where Serenity made the Matt Sizemore-Anthony DeAngelo match at Heatwave a First Blood Match. The post match from the DeAngelo-Migraine bout was then shown, where DeAngelo busted the departing Migraine open with a hard chair shot.

Matt Sizemore is in action next against M.J. This is a rematch from last week which M.J. asked for because he was frustrated with his performance on Hammerlock TV. Can he put in a better showing here tonight? M.J. was accompanied to the ring by his new assistant, the curvaceous and ever so fit Emma B.

Match highlights:
Matt Sizemore and M.J. traded chops and chokes to start the match, before Sizemore scored with a clothesline. M.J. came back with a backbreaker, but Sizemore rocked the personal trainer with a series of forearm strikes. M.J. power bombed Sizemore and made the cover, but the ref stopped counting when he saw that M.J. had his feet on his ropes. Sizemore executed the Tiger Driver '98 and a spinebuster slam. M.J. nailed Sizemore with a spinning backbreaker and a tilt-a-whirl powerslam. Sizemore hit M.J. with a German suplex for a near fall. M.J. took a breather on the floor, but Sizemore followed him out to ringside. Matt Sizemore planted M.J. with a Michinoku Driver on the ringside floor and then rolled him back into the ring for the pinfall.

Matt Sizemore defeated M.J. via pinfall in 0:09:32.
Rating: * 1/2

M.J. didn't take his second successive loss to Matt Sizemore well as he threw a tantrum at ringside. Irate, M.J. grabbed a steel chair and tried to attack Sizemore. M.J. charged at Sizemore with the chair, but Sizemore booted it back into the fitness instructor's face as the crowd cheered! M.J. was laid out on the canvas, bleeding from the head as a result of the impact of the chair. Chris Freeman remarked that if that happens to Anthony DeAngelo at Heatwave, then Matt Sizemore will get to have his way with Serenity!! Emma B then entered the ring and jumped on Sizemore's back. Sizemore grabbed a handful of her blonde locks and threw her to the mat. Sizemore looked into the camera and in a rebuttal to Serenity's comments on Hammerlock TV, yelled, "Serenity, THIS is you!!". Sizemore then blasted Emma B with the Size Matters as the fans went crazy!!

Up next is the NWA-UK Hammerlock Television Title Match between Bryan Campbell and Eggsy. Mystikal challenged Campbell to a title match for Heatwave on last week's show and as a direct result of that, Campbell has vowed to go through every Goldie Lookin' Chain member between now and Heatwave. We saw Campbell's cowardly attack on P Xain and Mike Balls earlier in the show, so can Eggsy now gain some retribution for that dastardly act? Or better yet, can Eggsy do the unthinkable and take the title???

Match highlights:
Eggsy was eager to gain some revenge for his group and he surprised Bryan Campbell with a faceslam. Campbell came back with a clothesline and a bodyslam. The Blue Chipper did not appear to be taking the challenger seriously at all. Eggsy's offence came in bursts, but the crowd was certainly behind him. Eggsy hit a somersault slam. Campbell missed an elbowdrop and Eggsy blasted the champ with a Yakuza kick. Campbell used a European uppercut and a powerslam for two. Campbell executed a flying cross body press, but Eggsy avoided the pinfall by getting his foot on the ropes. Eggsy kicked Campbell in the back of the head with an enzuigiri and hit him with a swinging DDT out of the corner. Eggsy got a two count with a Northern Lights suplex. Eggsy executed the Neon Racer on the TV Champion, but Campbell kicked out!! Bryan Campbell took possession of his TV Title belt, but Mike Balls prevented the Blue Chipper from clocking Eggsy with it! Campbell scored with a flying forearm, but The Maggot jumped onto the ring apron and began arguing with the official as Campbell made the cover! Campbell went for The Maggot who got out of the way in time. Bryan Campbell nailed Eggsy with the Chip Off The Old Block, but Adam Hussain distracted the referee! Campbell was becoming increasingly frustrated as he saw that time was running down. He DDTed Eggsy, but Billy Webb put Eggsy's foot on the bottom rope, preventing the fall from going down! In the last few seconds, Eggsy almost won the match and the title with a gutwrench suplex but Campbell kicked out. The time limit expired and the match ended as a draw. It was a bout that Campbell thought would be a walkover, but the TV Champion just ended up being embarrassed. However, it was still a fantastically entertaining contest.

Iron Man Match:
Bryan Campbell drew Eggsy:
x time limit expired (B. Campbell and Eggsy) in 0:15:00
Rating: **** 1/2
(Bryan Campbell retained the NWA-UK Hammerlock Television Title.)
[Adam Hussain interfered against Bryan Campbell.]
[The Maggot interfered against Bryan Campbell.]
[Billy Webb interfered against Bryan Campbell.]

Backstage, Bryan Campbell was beside himself with rage. Still smarting from the humiliation of the match with Eggsy, Campbell burst into Hammerlock President Peter Abram's office. Abram tried to calm him down, but Campbell was infuriated. The Blue Chipper demanded a match for Hammerlock TV against any member of the GLC and he insisted that everybody is banned from ringside. Abram said he'd see what he could do, but Campbell warned that it better happen. He added that nobody embarrasses him and then stormed off.

The NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title Match is upon us. There is no question that the challenger Ian Powers has been on a tremendous roll as of late and has looked even more impressive ever since he hooked up with the beautiful Leilani. Powers' recent run of victories included a win in a Triangle Contract on a Pole Match, which earned him this title shot here this evening. Powers has all the tools to take the title tonight, but Heavyweight Champion Jason Prentice will be no pushover. Prentice has been showing a completely new side lately, displaying the heart, guts and determination of a real champion. Perhaps it was the constant stick that he was getting from The Punisher that brought out this side of him. Prentice took The Punisher's criticism to be a sign of disrespect and attacked the big man. Prentice then challenged The Punisher to a match at Heatwave, a challenge that has yet to be answered. But if Prentice is overlooking Ian Powers and worrying more about The Punisher, it will be at his peril!

Match highlights:
Jason Prentice took control of this Heavyweight Title Match with a kneelift, a swinging neckbreaker and the Perfect Stranger. Ian Powers returned fire with a double arm DDT, a series of jabs and a flapjack. Powers used a fallaway slam and a Tombstone, but Prentice avoided a legdrop. Powers hit a spinebuster for the first near fall of the contest. Prentice suplexed Powers and followed up with another Perfect Stranger, but Powers kicked out!! Ian Powers locked Prentice up in the Hammer Jammer, but Prentice was able to inch his way over to the ropes and force a break. Prentice then clipped Powers in the back of the knee and worked over the injured body part. Prentice was relentless in his assault of Powers' knee, punishing it with elbows and knees and slamming it into the mat. Prentice put Powers in a figure-four leglock and Powers submitted almost immediately in an attempt to avoid permanent injury and also to stay in the match-up.
Powers surprised Prentice by taking him over with an exploder suplex, but Powers' knee was hurt too badly in order for him to follow up with any more offence. Powers favoured his knee as he pulled himself up with the aid of the ring ropes. The crowd appeared to be siding with the challenger. Jason Prentice seized the advantage, dropping Powers with an elbowsmash. Prentice signalled that he was going for the figure-four again, but Powers rolled him up in an inside cradle for the three count out of nowhere to level the contest!
Jason Prentice was livid that his advantage had been wiped out and he punished Powers with a back suplex. Ian Powers went for a spear but Prentice kneed him in the head and connected with a dropkick and a clothesline. Prentice picked up a near fall with a superkick right on the money. Powers rolled up Prentice again, but this time the champion kicked out before three. Powers was fighting through the pain barrier and he hit Prentice with a legdrop and a backbreaker. Ian Powers went for a Tombstone, but his injured knee buckled before he could complete the manoeuvre. Jason Prentice slid down and executed the Perfect Plant to retain the Heavyweight Title.

Two-out-of-three-Falls Match:
Jason Prentice beat Ian Powers 2 falls to 1:
x J. Prentice beat I. Powers via a figure-four leglock in 0:13:20
x I. Powers beat J. Prentice via an inside cradle in 0:14:45
x J. Prentice beat I. Powers via the Perfect Plant in 0:20:00
Rating: ****
(Jason Prentice retained the NWA-UK Hammerlock Heavyweight Title.)
[Leilani interfered against Jason Prentice.]

A very proficient and imposing performance here on Saturday Fight Night by Jason Prentice. The champion retains his title, but it was yet another gutsy showing by Ian Powers who was slightly unlucky to come up short. The fans don't like Prentice but are perhaps beginning to respect him as the Heavyweight Champion. Prentice and Linda O'Neil walked up the ramp, stopped at the top and turned to face the crowd. Prentice held his championship belt above his head when suddenly The Punisher decked him from behind with a stiff clothesline!! The crowd went mental!! Linda screamed and ran off to the back. The Punisher hoisted Prentice back up and planted him onto the stage with Total Punishment!! The Punisher took a microphone, looked down at Prentice's broken body and calmly said, "I accept!". The fans were in raptures and a loud "Pun-ish-er!" chant filled the arena. The Punisher picked up the Heavyweight Title belt and gazed at it before throwing it down on Prentice's chest as the show went off air!

I have relaunched my NWA-UK Hammerlock website at

http://members.lycos.co.uk/NWA_UKHammerlock/NWAhome.htm

You can look up wrestler bios, past results and so much more there, so check it out!

BIOS! That's going to make understanding the wrestlers and their characters, and picturing what's going on much better (seeing as I've never heard of any of them - are they fictional per chance?). Good job too, I'd started by picturing Jason Prentice as being a bit of an ogre, facially.
King_Of_Old_SchoolPosted on 07/23/05 at 23:08:16

Yup, all fictional.
