So, should I put this circuit online?

Critic_of_the_DawnPosted on 06/17/03 at 22:51:29

Some of you may have seen my recent description of how I started my most recent circuit in TNM7.  I've thought a bit about it, and since it seems to be going pretty well, I thought I'd post the first card I ran about a month ago here and ask for feedback and suggestions.  If the reaction seems to be positive enough, I'll post this online somewhere, either on the main page or (if I can get my HTML skills in good enough shape) a webpage of my own.  Questions, comments, criticisms, and ideas are all welcome.

Anyway, here it is:

NWA Keystone Rampage 5/28/03

Commissioner Emplit welcomed the fans to NWA Keystone and made several important announcements.
Comissioner Emplit:  Hello everyone, and welcome to the first NWA Keystone
Wrestling Association event.  As many of you know, the WWE has been falling on
hard times recently.  Because of this, many talented wrestlers were released.
Luckily we've managed to sign them, and we hope to bring you the best event we
possibly can.  Therefore, I have several announcments to make.
First, a tournament for the newly created and officially recognised NWA
Keystone Heavyweight Title will begin tonight, when Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli
meets Chris Kanyon in our main event.

(Both names receive a moderate reaction from the crowd of perhaps 350 people)

Comissioner Emplit: The other participants in the tournament include Rocky
Johnson, Rhyno, Rico, A-Train, The Hurricane, Steven Richards, Spike Dudley,
Bill DeMott, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Crash Holly, Brian Kendrick, Sean O'Haire,
Eric Angle, and Christopher Nowinski.  The tournament will last 14 regular
weeks, with our first Supercard, The Crowning, being held on the 15th week.
The winners of the Semifinals will meet that week.  Also, I've been told that
we can expect to see the NWA National Heavyweight Champion, Ricky Murdock, will
be defending his title on that card against an opponent of our choosing.

I do have one final announcement, but I'll leave it until after our main event
as I've wasted enough of your time with talk already.  With no further ado, I
give you NWA Keystone Wrestling Association's first ever contest!
Steven Richards pinned Rico in a hard fought contest which was, not
coincidentally, the best match of the evening.  Rico held the advantage for
much of the match, but proved unable to put Richards away.  Steven reversed a
slam attempt by Rico, then hit the Stevie-T to pick up the first victory in the
NWA Keystone record books, much to the frustration of the fans, who tried very
hard to boo him out of the building.

Steven Richards pinned Rico with the Stevie-T in 0:16:26.
Rating: ** 1/2

Rico goes for a sidewalk slam, but Steven Richards counters it with a DDT.
Steven Richards executes the Stevie-T on Rico.
The decibel level in the building is unbelievable.
Steven Richards goes for the pin.
Referee Eugenio Butman counts: One, two, three.
Security guards are restraining some fans from hitting the ring.

The winner is Steven Richards. Time of match: 0:16:26
Due to inclement weather in Chicago where Lance Storm worked a show yesterday,
he was unable to make it to our show.  Because of this, he is once again
scheduled to face A-Train next week.

A-Train and Shoichi Funaki battled to a draw in 0:20:00.
Rating: * 1/4
(Lance Storm no-showed.)

Rhyno and Brian Kendrick had a great, if short, match which was dominated by
Kendrick for the majority of the time it lasted.  Rhyno frequently looked
confused as he was outmaneuvered and taken down repeatedly by esoteric but
effective moves he likely never faced before.  Unfortunately for Spanky, none
of these moves seemed to phase the Man Beast much, and once Rhyno caught him,
it was all over.  Spanky was planted with a hard powerslam, then Gored so hard
that somewhere, Paul Heyman found himself in need of a change of underwear.

Rhyno pinned Brian Kendrick with the Gore in 0:05:48.
Rating: **

The decibel level in the building is unbelievable.
Chris Kanyon helps Brian Kendrick to the back.
(After the match, Chris Kanyon hits the ring and moves to check on Brian
Kendrick.  After making sure he's okay, Kanyon helps Spanky to the back.)

Kanyon:  (Chuckling) Man Brian, Rhyno Gored the hell outtah you.  If you keep
taking hits like that, you're gonnah hafta call yourself "Spanked."

Spanky:  (After catching his breath)  Hey, I almost had him!  Did you see that
wicked takedown I used?  He had no idea what hit him.  I mean, god, I innovated
more in that match than you have in your entire career.

Kanyon:  Hey kid, you may be good, but I'm the original Innovatah.  I'll show
you tonight when I take on The Bull.  Not only will I blow his mind, I'll win
the match.

Spanky:  (Laughing)  Yeah right, "pops."  We'll see what happens...  But
seriously.  Good luck.

Kanyon:  Thanks, but I ain't worried.  After all, Who bettah than Kanyon?
The dynamic between Chris Kanyon and Brian Kendrick is interesting to say the
least.  These two workers have a lot in common, and there's probably quite a
bit that Spanky can learn from Kanyon.  If the two workers were to team up,
they could accomplish some truly amazing things.

Shoichi Funaki took Lance Storm's place, performing double duty (and gaining
the bruises to show it).  Still, few were unimpressed that he managed to fight
A-Train to a standstill and then pick up the win in his tag team match later in
the evening.  Though he is not scheduled to compete in the tournament, few
doubt that great things are in the future for Funaki.

Palumbo and O'Haire worked a good match, but they found themselves unable to
keep up with the speed and experience of Funaki and Guerrero, who managed to
defeat them with only 37 seconds remaining in the time limit.

Cruiser Kings defeated Dominion when Funaki pinned C. Palumbo with the
Fisherman's Buster in 0:19:23.
Rating: ** 1/4

The winners are Cruiser Kings. Time of match: 0:19:23
Rocky Johnson came out to a decidedly mixed reaction.  It remains to be seen to
what degree the fans will take to him.  Most likely, he'll have to let his work
in the ring speak for itself, as the fans will almost certainly resent having
an older worker around if he doesn't pull his share.
(Rocky Johnson's music hits and the oldest worker in NWA Keystone makes his way
down to the ring with a microphone.)

Johnson:  For those of you who don't know me...  I'm Rocky Johnson.  A second
generation wrestler.  Perhaps you've heard of my father, High Chief Peter
Maivia...  But it's more likely that you're familiar with my son, The Rock.
It was my connections with the industry that got him into the business, and
I suppose you could say that if not for me, there would be no People's Champ.

(The crowd is giving a decidedly mixed reaction)

Johnson:  Now, I'm not out here trying to mooch off of my son's heat, believe
me.  I'm just letting you all know who I am and why I'm out here tonight.  I
was a trainer at OVW, which is WWE's farm league, basically.  But with their
recent hard times, they couldn't afford to keep me on any longer, so...  I'm on
the road again.  I figure I've got enough experience to hold my own against
some of the younger talent here, and maybe even to win a few more titles before
I hang up my boots for the last time.  Thanks for your time.

(He heads out and into the back, walking past A-Train who simply stares
silently.)
Spanky helps Kanyon prepare for his match.
(The camera moves to Brian Kendrick and Chris Kanyon once again.  Kanyon is
taping up his wrists as Spanky delivers a pep talk of sorts.)

Spanky:  Okay Chris, you're up next.  Time for you to show me what you've got.
I know you won't be able to top that sweet DDT I pulled out of nowhere against
Rhyno, but that doesn't matter.  What matters is you have to win.  Because I
know damn well I'm going to win *my* tournament match.  So you go out there,
melt The Bull's mind out with the crazy shit you do, and I'll see you in the
Finals.

Kanyon:  Ah, Johnny ain't so tough.  I'll take him out, no sweat.  Flatlinah
and it's done.

(Kanyon gets to his feet and heads out the door.  As he does so, Spanky pats
him on the shoulder.)

Spanky:  You've got it in the bag, pops.  After all, Who better than Kanyon?

Kanyon:  That's my line, kid.

(Fade out)
Tonight's main event was less than awe inspiring, as Johnny Stamboli used the
ropes to ensure his victory in just slightly over a minute.  Both Kanyon and
the fans were extremely upset at this turn of events.

[Keystone Heavyweight Title Tournament Qualifier]: No-Time-Limit-No-Countout-No-DQ-Match:
Johnny Stamboli pinned Chris Kanyon after a powerslam in 0:01:10.
Rating: 1/4*

The winner is Johnny Stamboli. Time of match: 0:01:10
Comissioner Emplit's final announcement proved to be the signing of Chris
Jericho, easily the most well known star working for NWA Keystone.  We'll see
what he has to say next week.

(Once the ring is clear, Comissioner Emplit makes his way out once more with a
microphone in hand and waits for the crowd to settle down from the previous
cheap ending.)

Comissioner Emplit:  Thank you all once again for coming.  Now that the show is
over, I'd like to make my final announcement.  It gives me great pleasure to
introduce to you now, a former holder of the more titles than I can clearly
recall, and one of the true greats of the sport.  Ladies and gentlemen, please
welcome the newest member of the NWA Keystone roster and easily the most
celebrated, Chris Jericho!

(Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring and poses to a standing ovation as the
show ends.)
Confirmed Matches for June 4th:
Lance Storm vs. A-Train
Rockey Johnson vs. Rhyno in a Tournament Match

I'll take that as a no.  Thanks for reading, then.  :)

Why not put it online?  The threads on here barely get more than one reply to them.
Critic_of_the_DawnPosted on 06/29/03 at 05:38:59

This is true.  I'll see what I can do, I suppose.

I thought it was pretty good. I'd like to see more, whether you put it on its own website or continue to post it here.
Critic_of_the_DawnPosted on 06/30/03 at 03:22:58

I'm working on a website for it now.  My site design skills are more or less nonexistent, but then, so long as there's content, it doesn't have to be pretty.  :)

I'll post the link once I've got a bit more content there.
