ROH Catches the Injury Bug

Critic of the DawnPosted on 04/04/07 at 06:14:51

Lately, it seems that the more demanding touring schedule of ROH as well as their continued stiff style has been wrecking havoc on their roster.

Consider the following:

Bryan Danielson is out with a shoulder injury which he worked through for a good 6 months before dropping the title.

Jimmy Rave is out with a broken jaw as a result of a lariat from Nigel McGuinness

Homicide has been struggling on and off with shoulder trouble for a couple years now.

Mark Briscoe suffered a serious concussion after landing on his head durning a Shooting Star Press, and may miss a few more shows as a result while he recovers.

BJ Whitmer is apparently having neck trouble after his Cage Match against Jimmy Jacobs (although this may be a work to sell the brutality of the match).

Jimmy Jacobs is out for 6-9 months with a broken tooth and a torn ACL after his Cage Match against BJ Whitmer.

What, if anything, should ROH do to combat this problem?  Who should ROH push with so many upper midcarders on the injured list?  Is this just bad luck, or a symptom of a style they will have a hard time maintaining if they continue to increase their number of shows and the amount of travel each year?

Bryan Danielson should be coming back to the RoH soon to feud w/ Morishima because he just started a tour in Pro Wrestling NoAH. Homicide should be good to go. (I always thought that little bandage on his arm was covering a fresh tattoo...). I'm really, really sad about Briscoe getting effed up. I'm going to the Edison show and was expecting to see Steen/Generico -vs- Briscoe Brothers Part II. Their first match was well over ****. Jacobs will still be part of the shows... or at least thats what rohwrestling.com said. PLUS... they lost Colt Cabana to the E.

But... yes. I sure do agree with you. With all of these injuries... with all of these "TNA Pull-Outs"... and with the Cabana signing... its going to be interesting to see where RoH goes from here. It looks like the highlight of the shows are gonna be the Morishima matches and the Strong/Evans/Aries feud. (Oh, and am I the only one who thinks this Albright/Homicide feud is going to be awesome?)
