Post-Match Celebration
After the match and title change, Ken Shamrock confronted Chris Benoit in the
middle of the ring.
After scoring the winning pin, Chris Benoit came over to Ken Shamrock to give
him his newly-won half of the WWF World Tag Team Titles.
Shamrock, however, had something else in mind. He got in Benoit's face for the
lariat he had knocked him down with. Benoit, sensing that Shamrock was about to
snap, tried to calm down his partner by apologizing for what had happened.
Ken Shamrock wanted no part of it and threw the first punch, at which point
things really got ugly. Benoit, a legitimately tough guy himself, more than held
his own against the world-class shootfighter.
Once again, it took half the WWF locker room to separate the two.

Match Observations:
Rick Steiner completely blitzed the Godfather tonight and made quick work of
the WWF's own pimp. Realizing what had happened (Steiner had more than a handful
of trunks), Godfather challenged Steiner to a rematch which will take place
tomorrow night on RAW.
The Acolytes and Mark Henry and D-Lo Brown had - as Jim Ross would call it - a
true slobberknocker. Both teams gave it their all, brawling from bell to bell
and handing out quite a few concussions in the process. Just as the Acolytes
were wrapping up the match after Bradshaw scored with a lariat, Mark Henry
spoiled the plan by powerslamming Faarooq for the win.
Speaking of rematches, we certainly hope to see Kendo Ka Shin and Masato
Tanaka stepping into the ring against one another again in the near future. They
had exactly what you would expect: a technically sound Japanese-style match
where absolutely everything made sense.
Good job, Val Venis ! I'm sure that after he started racking up losses for his
team, finally scoring an important win once again raised his ego (no pun
intended) back to where he can resume being an effective partner for Bret Hart.
What are we supposed to say about Chris Benoit and Ken Shamrock that hasn't
been said before ? They are two great wrestlers for sure and they apparently
are a fabulous team as well. The only real problem with them is that they are
both true hotheads and get in each other's face every chance they get. We have
learned that the WWF championship committee has called an emergency meeting and
will make an announcement concerning the WWF World Tag Team Titles tomorrow
night on RAW from the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis.
After his stinker of a match again Hogan tonight, rumor has it that Cactus Jack
will have something to say tomorrow night on RAW.
Edge has certainly made a lasting impression on the WWF scene - there is no
doubt about that. He is the new WWF Intercontinental Champion having defeated
none other than Shawn Michaels in convincing fashion. The two will be rematched
tomorrow night on RAW by Michaels' request.
The Rock once again was close to the brink of extinction tonight facing a
seemingly almighty Hayabusa. As much as we'd like to think The Rock was
competitive, it was Hayabusa from bell to bell. The only thing that saved Rock's
title reign (and hence, his WWF career) was some quick thinking on his part when
Hayabusa got careless. Rock has one more month to go until his big title match
against Hollywood Hogan at WrestleMania, and I'm afraid that if he doesn't start
doing his homework, it'll be time for the fat lady to sing sooner than he
thinks !
